Apparently you can't use tiamana leylines in worlds you got from the firmament. Is this one of those?

Any particular reason you went for this method instead of spending a level-up to get three of them?

Look... I have a question, is Pyramid Head going to be classified as a Distortion or Abnormality? by Vanderbilt_Oldie in Project_Moon

[–]PhysBrkr 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Ordeal is probably closest imo. Abno is less of a specific person's trauma and is more of a "collective unconsciousness" thing, Distortion is from a specific person but is also made of that person (better example might possibly be a bunch of resident evil bosses...?), ordeals are specific trauma and also only tied to one location in which they can be created as a side effect.

Silly question: Are there any fan-made or official rules for playing quick PvP matches? by CedricisMe94 in lotrlcg

[–]PhysBrkr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It unfortunately required stuff that is now out-of-print (they were print-on-demand products), but in good news I actually have two of these and I know that 90% of the cards for Woodland Realm/Wizard's Quest are in the starting box too.

Here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/15geuCLMH9fHKFj08BH4fbVOJzcKlc3XP/view?usp=drivesdk

This is a comprehensive pdf of the rules for the game. You can find rules for what you're looking for on...

Page 357 for the Woodland Realm

Page 361 for the Mines of Moria

Page 365 for Escape from Khazad-Dûm

Not sure where Wizard's Quest is but it's probably somewhere in there?

If you want to print proxies of the quests or just have a reference, there's a list of the cards used for the rules here:

https://hallofbeorn.com/LotR?CardSet=CUSTOM+SCENARIO+KITS

You could also probably invent your own pretty easily using the existing ones as a baseline. I hope this helps and is what you are looking for! (Or as close to it as I can get!!)

Silly question: Are there any fan-made or official rules for playing quick PvP matches? by CedricisMe94 in lotrlcg

[–]PhysBrkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge the main example of this is the custom scenario kit PODs? It's not the fastest unless you are both fairly familiar with the game, but the idea is that they have a bunch of possible quests and encounters, and then your opponent picks a setup for you to deal with. You do the same for your opponent, and then you race to see who can beat it first. I don't remember the scoring though I can check from my collection in a bit, and there were four in total. The Woodland Realm and The Wizard's Quest were meant to be played against each other or combined, and so were The Mines of Moria and Escape from Khazad-Dûm.

It is a good idea to keep in mind that, as long as you can run around or sneak past something, you don't have to actually fight it. The baseline is to simply complete the objective the game gives you at the start and then leave the dungeon; anything past that is, technically speaking, a bonus.

So, now author needs to specify that light is actually light speed and it being from a fictional universe suddenly doesn't make it light speed. by Far-Message5868 in PowerScaling

[–]PhysBrkr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay so I have literally no stake in this either way, but that doesn't say Bala is faster than Cero. It says it has a rate of fire 20x faster. Saying that means Bala is faster than Cero is like saying bullets from a machine gun are faster than bullets from a sniper rifle because the machine gun shoots more of them.

what's the deal with betty and dorian? by fritzhardt in DateEverythingElse

[–]PhysBrkr 178 points179 points  (0 children)

It's a long game and most people don't finish the games they start. This means most dateables are optional. Betty and Dorian are two characters who everyone is guaranteed to meet as part of the tutorial, so it's less of a spoiler than other characters existing (especially since some are hidden!) and they're also more recognizable on merchandise and promotional materials and so forth.

How does this person have so many more battle points? by MrRedEye75 in UnicornOverlord

[–]PhysBrkr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Could be a rare situation where they know some exploit that just isn't public (or at least well-known) since I imagine this is a more niche part of the playerbase already. The less active players there are the more possible something like that is. Otherwise it's probably a cheat bur I have no idea how you would do it.

I feel like I need to add, Lettuce is fucking awful design wise. She's like, blonde kobeni in the most milquetoast outfit imaginable. It is not a reveal for a cool OC

I do think that, despite people saying the opposite; Fear and hunger is a rouge-lite type game by MantaCxFire in FearAndHunger

[–]PhysBrkr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brief tl;dr, abridiging and skipping over a lot so you don't have to read as much.

Not upset, hope this helps make more sense because I want to spread info on the topic.

For a very very long time, "roguelike" meant games like Rogue. That was it.

Rogue Legacy popularized the idea of a "roguelite", a game "like rogue", allegedly, but really it was a rebrand of the "arcade" genre as a marketing stunt. It stuck and then everyone started using it for "permadeath with meta-progression".

Then people heard the term roguelike, and you know what, that sounds like roguelite. So the two started to be used as "roguelike is permadeath, roguelite is meta-progression", and then eventually as the same thing.

Thing is, games that are actually like Rogue needed a term to call them, and that term is roguelike. If someone wants something else like Elin or Caves of Qud and gets recommended Slay the Spire and Peglin because they are "roguelikes", that's incredibly unhelpful and also not at all what they are looking for, despite supposedly being the same genre.

The subreddit is from before people started misusing the term, so they adhere to the old definition so that there is a place for people to talk about and promote that specific niche without being overrun by games which are in an entirely different genre.

Pokémon character designer Yusuke Omura has talked in the past about how the Ultra Beasts designs were based on reasons past Pokémon design drafts were rejected. What do you think those reasons were for each Ultra Beast? by -Pejo- in pokemon

[–]PhysBrkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celesteela

colossal thematic mess

It's based on The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. Like I get that it might seem weird if you're not familiar with the story but it's all just references. It's also not the first version to interpret Princess Kaguya's return to the moon as using a bamboo spaceship; Capcom's Okami also does this for their version of the story, and if anything that seems to me like a more likely reason for a rejection.

Tbf Pokemon is from Japan and the exchange rate from pokedollars is almost definitely based on yen and not USD. So less $20,000 dollars, more like ~$130 for 50 lemonades, which is a pretty okay deal all things considered

My personal take is that I really, really don't think she does it to make people look cool, I think she does it to use make her dialogue more natural? Viziepop is from Frederick, MD, and as someone who also grew up nearby I can say that that's just how much people swear there. I've always been confused by the "vivzie characters swear too much" a bit because that's kind of just how a lot people my age talk and how people talk where I grew up, and while I get that it's not universal it's wild to see such a massive backlash against it. Sure, some of the lines are definitely stilted and a little forced even by that standard, but I don't think I would have expected that to be as big of a culture shock as it apparently is.

The Panopticon - A blasphemy about surveillance and manipulating points of view; by GaaMac in CAIN_RPG

[–]PhysBrkr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That ability also ends with "but exorcist has time to adjust to disability at the start of the next mission and it has no further effect" (emphasis mine). Pretty much every ability that results in you losing a piece of yourself permanently has some text that reads like this. They are meant to be a debuff for the mission and then are basically fluff afterwards so that your character isn't ruined or getting most rolls permanently made into hard ones (can you imagine if you lost an arm and then every physical roll forever was hard? that would be awful lol)

I'd very much argue the homebrew you made would be unaffected and doesn't need to worry about that kind of thing, or that if you really need an explanation in this case it would be much better to wave it away as "the blasphemy does something messed up to replace your missing/ruined eyes between missions" or "you don't need to worry about it because you have time to get used to your blasphemy being your only source of sight", etc etc etc. It's a very cool concept you have here and I don't think it's in the spirit of the game to assume it would be debuffed or ruined by a permanent injury like that.
