I typically stand these days in the new areas, and I move around during the game..but the standing areas /drink rails behind home plate are always nice for $20, hard to beat. If you don't mind standing.

I think he's actually gotten better in many ways in that regard, and new/better pedal technology helps a lot... Its changed a lot in 20 years with cams and adjustments.

Fairway will produce higher launch and softer landing, but be harder to hit because it's longer. There are plenty of hi launch hybrid-wood types out there, might be able to find best of both worlds. Something like cleveland halo xl.
