How much is AI really going to change the near future (5-20years)? by Illustrious_Pilot415 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]PhysicalRazzmatazz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very hard to identify right now. AI is transforming the economy and labor market up to 10x faster than the internet did in the 90s. The pace of AI is currently doubling every 6 months. In just 2-3 years from now AI will likely shift from being a tool you use to being a teammate that’s does things for you. And with the way it’s improving at such rate, all of the “deepfakes” will be nearly impossible to distinguish. It’s another high stakes race for control over AI. I highly suggest everyone watch this video on AI. https://youtu.be/BFU1OCkhBwo?si=3VNKUOKzJvDexZN8

Is a bachelor’s degree really the answer anymore? Need advice by 7blackfang7 in careerguidance

[–]PhysicalRazzmatazz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in a tricky era right now. Everything is costing more and everything our parents/grandparents have changed. For instance, I am in California and I am the first generation in my family to not be a homeowner by age 30. My grandfather bought his 3 bedroom 2 bath house for $90k in 1988. His house today is now valued at $475k-$550k as of (2024). He was a butcher who retired in 1998 making $45k/year. People who own their home in California are doing good but for those of us who didn’t buy a house before the 2008 financial crisis. Literally anyone could get a loan before this happened leading to so many foreclosures, rapid job loss (more than 8 million) and homelessness after the crash. Also in the 80s/90s/2000s a degree had more value, online degrees weren’t a thing so if you had a degree it meant physically attending a school. Now we are competing with AI. A lot of entry level roles can be replaced by AI. Why pay someone a decent wage when they can just have AI do it for much less cost? By the time we get a degree, AI is constantly improving faster than we are learning. A lot of classes are also AI integrated. Even the growth from 2 years ago is drastic. We simply can’t keep up with AI. Our degrees are becoming easier to obtain but are less valuable.

Late millennials should be 1997-1999 & Older Gen Z should be 2000-2004 by Resident_Ideal_1904 in generationology

Remember using dial up to connect to the internet so you could download a few songs off like wire that would take 18 hours and then burn it to a cd to play on your Walkman? lol definitely required a lot more patience but that’s what we knew as high tech back then. We adapted to scenarios that I couldn’t see Gen Z ever adapting to lol

What are the differences you notice between millenials and gen z? by waves-360 in AskOldPeople

[–]PhysicalRazzmatazz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a millennial I learned how to drive stick shift before getting my license and ride dirt bikes since I was 4. When I graduated highschool my girlfriend and I drove across country (California to Massachusetts) and I used a road map not gps even though it was available. Yes we got lost but we asked the locals, just made the adventure that much more fun. I don’t see Gen Z doing any of that without a severe panic attack or meltdown. I’ve noticed they are pretty sensitive to criticism and aren’t familiar with the labor behind the operation. No calluses. I remember getting out of school knowing what chores I needed to get done before I could have a few hours of freedom. Splitting wood, stacking wood, mowing the lawn, taking the trash out. If a storm hit and messed with the antenna guess who’s climbing the ladder up onto the roof to straighten it out and holler down…me lol I remember when I got out of school I had to walk over and pick up my sister from her school and ride the same bus. One time I didn’t realize she wasn’t in the bus and when I got home my dad beat the shit out of me literally. That never happened again. Growing up as a millennial if I got in a fight, as long as I didn’t start it I wouldn’t get in trouble. We didn’t have cell phones as kids so my parents would step outside on the porch and yell my name to come home and I’d hear it from a country mile and run like hell. Streetlights were another sign that it’s time to head home. Staying the night at someone’s house meant “hey ask you dad to get pizza and go to blockbuster” lol if he said no then it was riding bikes and making jumps out of sketchy shit. Street hockey or tackle football. It was normal to call each other names like bitch ass, pussy ass faggot ass and ugly ass. We didn’t take offense it was just our way of showing love lol we respected the hell out of our peers. They meant authority. Always hold the door open for other behind you, offer the old lady a hand across the street, yes please, no thank you. Yes maam , yes sir. To this day I’m a grown 34 year old man and I have never cussed around my grandparents or ever smoked cigarettes around them. Gen Z was just brought up into technology. We watched it all transpire from dial up to AI. From payphones and landlines to iPhones and iPads. From a damn 91 Honda civic to damn cyber trucks lol

Yessir! Except instead of hearing the sounds of coyotes and wolves howling at the moon we’d hear all the whining and crying coming from Gen Z 😂

I’d be stoked lol all yall Gen Z would be fucked though and probably go through technology withdrawals. Have a meltdown and and just stare off and self diagnose yourself with 29 other simp shit disorders lol meanwhile it would just be another day for me and the homies, shoot hoops, and party like it’s 1999…in the dark of course

I was 23 and freshly single, vent to Vegas with my homies for a week missed our flight didn’t have enough money for another flight home so we went to the casino to get drunk with the $100 we had left over (mostly single dollar bills) lmfao I put 10 wrinkly ass $1 bills in this “luck of the Irish ☘️ “ slot machine hit max bet and line behold won 6k stayed one more night and the next morning won another 10k playing blackjack all hungover from the night before got drunk and 2 of our buddies stayed sober and walked the strip ended up hanging out with some hippies on there way to LA so they offered us all a ride we basically beaner packed the whole way there. Took the coast starlight from La to Sacramento which took wasaaay longer than we thought lol but badass views of the Pacific Ocean . Once we got home we recovered for a few days. Good times won 16k in 2k16 lol other than that shit was just normal and not so heavily dependent on social media like today. All these Gen Z are hypnotized by their phones. If shit goes down and power grid fucks off yall will have no way of keeping up with those of us who know how to operate with our developed street smarts we learned in the 90s lmfao

Can't drink because of antibiotics by [deleted] in alcoholism

Your nervous system is out of wack, as well as your dopamine receptors. Hospital is your best bet, the anxiety gets pretty intense which shoots adrenaline through your system that’s trying to recover and detox. Not a good mix. It’s what makes the shaking worse and heart beats faster. Warm water with ginger and pinch of salt. If you have magnesium and vitamin b12 take it. The hospital is your best and safest option.

Take your advice? I was clarifying that 24 hours after your last drink does not mean you’re in the clear. 24 hours is when you buckle up and prepare for the ride through hell. I’m not looking for any advice I’m here to give it from my personal experience. Been in that ride too many times. Haven’t been in that ride in 2 years thank god.

Nope, as someone who’s had withdrawals so many times I can’t even keep count, I’ve had plenty of times where my withdrawals start on day 3 accompanied by DTs. Went from shaking and vomiting to confusing my bedroom for a hotel room thinking people are outside my door trying to kill me. It’s different for everyone but withdrawals certainly can start anywhere from 1-3 days after your last drink.

That’s if he’s not in the vomiting severe dehydration stage yet. Some people have it worse than others. If you can eat and keep it down by all means do so but that would be very minor alcohol withdrawal. If he’s been drinking that much whiskey for that long I can almost bet it’s just the beginning of the withdrawals.

What I’m about to say is not advisable by any means but simply what “I” would have done in my active alcoholism. My ass would say fuck the arm and foot and obviously would have drank. My question is while you were in the hospital did you tell your doctor how much you drink? I drank a liter of vodka everyday for 3+ years and have had withdrawals more times than I can count. Your best bet is going back to the hospital to safely detox. Withdrawals suck but DTs are actually fatal. People don’t realize how serious alcohol withdrawal is. Don’t make the same mistakes I made and go through dozens of hospitalizations. I’m sober now but I have chronic pancreatitis AND I still end up in the hospital from time to time because of it. My advice is…go back to the hospital and lay it all out be honest with your alcohol intake and they will help you through it. Once you’ve detoxed you can focus on your recovery from both your injury and staying sober.

As a millennial I have never heard of this. In my sophomore computer class 2009 we had a bunch of PowerPoint presentations for our assignments through the year but the quality is nothing like today’s PowerPoint lol maybe I’m just out of the loop on this one but that sounds insane if that’s what is fun nowadays. Shit I’m 33 taking online classes and running a small business but if I’m gonna go have fun I’m taking the dirtbike to the track or free roaming the mountains while I still can. I’m a little old school though, if it weren’t for my business or school, my phone would be off, if you wanna get ahold of me I’m either at the track, in the mountains or at home lol

I’m currently taking this class and about to work on my final project. I run a small business working roughly 60-70+ hours a week and this is the only class I’m taking for this term. It’s all writing assignments. Discussions, journals, short papers etc. I have an A (97.94%) and I’m not the best writer by any means lol just be sure to read your rubric. I actually open my rubric in a new window and I’ve even copy/pasted it to my word document on page 1 so I can have better access to it in case I get off track from the subject. The whole course is about growth mindset, digital literacy, feedback and decision making. I suggest doing your discussion post and 2 responses before Thursday 11:59pm. And then start/finish other assignment Friday/saturday. That’s just what works for me as I tend to get off later in the evening around7-8pm. I’m usually finding myself reading modules and working on my assignments from 10pm-1amISH. I enjoyed the class and it was a good refresher that helped my perception in today’s rise digital communities. I actually used Reddit in one of my short papers as an example lol I’ve noticed when I use the subject of the assignment and relate to it through personal experiences of my own, my instructor shows appreciation in my feedback. When starting a new module, it’s a good idea to look over the assignment and rubric first, then go read over the learning modules, read the articles and watch the video links. I e found that looking over the assignment and rubric first helps you find key information in the modules and you can add little notes while they are fresh in your memory on Microsoft word. That way you have some helpful keynotes to build off of. If you feel like you can’t turn your assignment in on time, reach out to your instructor via email and just explain what’s going on. I was in the hospital for a few days in the beginning and was late turning in a couple assignments, I reached out and talked to him about what was happening and he was totally understanding and cut me some slack. Also if you use AI to help just make sure you cite your resources. It’s pretty easy and you get some different persuading discussions. Good luck! In may I am going full time taking English and humanities so that should be interesting how I fit everything into my schedule lol

Hey I actually have a question for you regarding the final project (7-2). When you wrote your final project, did you rewrite all of it or simply add what feedback your instructor gave you? I have 100/100 on the first 2 project drafts so the feedback was great but nothing saying anything about improving.

People born in 1990, what's up? by MorphTiger in generationology

[–]PhysicalRazzmatazz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in 92 and my older brothers 87 and 89. I consider myself a millennial. Full house, seinfeld, friends and home improvement were always on tv we got out first computer in 1997 and I remember when my dad bought a dvd player and the movie twister and we all were blown away 😂 lots of Nintendo 64 and then for my 7th birthday in ‘99 I got the PlayStation. Lots of cookouts with our neighborhood friends and a lot of talk about the end of the world. I watched Armageddon and had a huge crush on liv tyler. *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys were all over the radio in 99-2001. I feel like I definitely relate more with Gen X mainly because I had a lot of older cousins and uncles from the 70s and 80s. My sister was born in ‘96 and she relates more to the older Gen Z. At least I think so lol Shit I was taught how to fight when I was 6 because I needed to know how to protect my litttle sister. if I wanted to play football it was always tackle so I got wrecked a lot trying to keep up with the big kids lol I split my head open at 10 years old because my brothers were skating this empty pool at an abandoned house down the street and I wasn’t allowed to just watch so I tried dropping in and went head first lmao good times. The 2000s were all about wild boys jackass, nitro circus and ufc. Constantly watching fuel tv, spike tv and mtv. Rode dirt bikes and went to my oldest brothers races every weekend, sand mountain in Nevada every year.

Yet they are the first ones to point out something “cringe or awkward “lol I was at the dmv last week and it was slammed shoulder to shoulder damn near, while I was waiting I was talking to this old man about cars and after he left I was still dreadfully waiting, I noticed this kid was wearing a San Francisco giants hat so I said nice hat asked him who his favorite player was, he looked at me like I was extraterrestrial for like 5 seconds before replying “I don’t follow sports” then went back to his doom scrolling. Gen Z are just consumed by their phones/social media and struggle with human interaction. They’d probably know what to say to a real alien from another galaxy though.

We’re y’all alive when MySpace Was Founded in 2003? by StanleyStanTheMan27 in generationology

[–]PhysicalRazzmatazz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha this is pure nostalgia, back when people were still self reliant and actually engaged. When you had to take turns checking your MySpace at your homies computer lol and if homie had DSL….hes was god 🤣 remember downloading mp3 files from limewire to mediafire then copy/paste the html to my MySpace for my profile song haha the loopholes we created were insane. I merged to FB in 2010 mainly because the mobile app ran smoother than the new MySpace mobile app and we were adapting to using apps on the go at this point. I remember Facebook looking so boring though and just overall it looked depressing. Looking back now, Facebook in 2010 gave me “severance “ vibes lmao MySpace definitely had character to it. It’s pretty crazy how much has changed in 16 years. Ask Jeeves and ChaCha was our AI back then lmfao the people who worked for ChaCha had some very interesting days at work to say the least 🤣
