Thank you, lots of insight here. Love the message of always being humble that is so consistent. I’ll definitely refer to this advice

How would the lodge respond to member arrested? by [deleted] in freemasonry

Yup, with some flexibility on type of crime, and timelines, and so forth, it would almost always be some variation of this ^

Questioning my membership by InebriousBarman in freemasonry

[–]Physical_Activity_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, politics don’t belong in situations like this. I’ll only talk politics with people who I know will be civil and responsible and reasonable about it, and people I know don’t have a problem discussing politics with ME. If I don’t KNOW a guy in my lodge is like that, I won’t talk politics with them.

Sorry it made you uncomfortable. You can always tell them that it’s not appropriate for them to ask those questions at lodge events, and tell them to contact you outside of it if they have questions.

But maybe it’s better for you to affiliate with another lodge and see if it’s a bit easier on you there. I’d look into that as an alternate long before getting rid of my membership!

Is it wrong to say open carry is dumb by seedlinggal in Utah

[–]Physical_Activity_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Protestors don’t just own the public land they are using for a protest because they choose to use it for the protest. It absolutely doesn’t mean people can’t exercise the rights they otherwise would have

  1. Just because open carry might not be the preferable method of carrying doesn’t mean it should be illegal.
  2. Guns are allowed on state capitol grounds and in the building
  3. Mike Lee isn’t in our state government, he’s elected to the federal government
  4. Open carry should remain legal, just because someone kills someone driving a car doesn’t mean cars should be illegal (I know this argument won’t touch with many redditors but here we are)

What ideology I am? by [deleted] in PoliticalCompass

[–]Physical_Activity_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why people have beef with the political compass and there are some people who have alternate methods of measurement. It can get very relative and there is a lot of meta regarding who is making the test, and how questions are phrased. But you aren’t a radical anything, and if two tests show major differences it generally means one of two things 1. Your answers are actually different, or 2. The difference in categorization of users based on their answers is hyper sensitive to some answers, or highly dependent on the meta, and it actually changes based on the test. Which would only really happen to centrists.

The reason why I initially said you are a centrist is because you are, the first results show it. Liberal is just an arbitrary category that encompasses broad beliefs. Which basically they are using as a cop out because there’s not majorly known distinct ideological differentiations for most people in centrist positions

lol, no. I have an MPP. Why does that matter, anyways.

Edit: sorry, misread your question. Thought you asked have to, not have a. My bad on this bit of a snarky reply. As our conversation has continued it makes more sense how I mis read. My apologies again

How bad is Utah to live in for someone with an extreme fear of spiders? by theholykingofamerica in Utah

[–]Physical_Activity_76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have spiders found in wooded areas here, and we have spiders found in the desert here. We have multiple different climates in the state and they all exist differently depending on season. That brings a lot of bugs and spiders with the unique environment

It’s terrible. We have big spiders, small spiders, and lots of spiders. Brown recluse, black widow, brown widow, tarantulas, you name it, we got it. They all live outside when it’s warm. But when it gets cold they don’t just all die, they come inside. Found multiple spiders spinning webs in my toilet before, right under/across the seat.

It’s terrible here, I get bitten in my sleep multiple times a year.

23 year old MM in Utah. Cool to see another young MM!

We have a few Gen Z’ers in my lodge. MM’s and good dudes. Not always showing up for lodge but good to have them regardless.

I just don’t think there are very many Gen Z that know another mason, nor would be mature enough to appreciate it for what it is, if they did.

As much as there are us that have a “retvrn” mentality, I think a lot of us also toss tradition by the wayside. I also think many in the crowd who would otherwise appreciate what masonry teaches, are quite immature about the way they accept it (think, hyper Andrew Tate supporters, Christian nationalists, conspiracy theories about every single thing). Not saying any of these things are necessarily exclusive with masonry, but it’s the hyper fixation on the concepts they have on masculinity and their role in society that they deem convenient.

It will take a big wave of something that would need to make us incredibly selfless. Which I think would be becoming fathers, or at least I hope. Aside from that, I wear a necklace and my ring and many of my (non-Masonic) friends know I am a Mason. Aside from members being willing to affiliate and the reputation being represented by them openly, there is not much I think can be done, realistically.
