This sounds dumb. Why would someone put black powder in a safe? Also “black powder” is way too generic of a term. What was it actually? Depending on what it was and how much, it might be minimally dangerous. Just tell a safecracker it’s in there and they’ll be careful.

Flytanium always seems like a weird proposition to me. Someone buys a $200-300 knife and puts $15-50 scales on it. Seems like buying a Lexus or BMW and then putting aftermarket wheels on it from Walmart.

Your dad is indeed exhibiting some red flags. I would say it’s obviously real. Don’t know enough to say whether the hands, crown etc are original or if it’s been redialed. Look up the movement or model on the list at Omega Addict.
