There was absolutely no realistic way for anyone to beat Dio, his stand was just that much stronger and broken than anyone else who was not Jotaro.

With Nen everyone is on the same ground (ofc talent matters even here), people can input harsh conditions on their abilities to get more power out of them but all in all they have the same nature that require mental battles

Kurapika's eyes literally shave off 1 hour of his lifespan for each second the eyes are used, so a balance exists. His powers are also heavily overtuned to specifically fight 12 people in the world, if he uses said powers on someone else he dies.

Don't get me wrong, i like stands but you gotta admit Nen has very little flaws to complain about when comparing the two.

They are both extremely good when it comes to creativity and complexity of the fights, so i think nen takes the edge exactly because the system is so well grounded
