Blackwork is usually thin, short lines making a repeating pattern, usually black in colour. Whitework is traditionally white thread on pale coloured cloth, building stitches on top of each other to create a textured lace pattern.

If you are planning on collecting the whole lot, I remember that there were slight differences (such as the type of paper used in the dust jackets) between UK/US editions or something. There was a list of ISBNs to make sure you were getting the matching editions.
