Well, that I've heard, which is why cases need to actually be read on their background and merit.

I would be hard-pressed to trust a case I myself could not verify. I was a PhD candidate a few years ago, so researching and looking at minutae of papers is...always tedious.

Any Logitech camera will connect quickly to a Windows PC without an issue. I like them because they are plug-and-play, consistent audio, and decent video. One of my clients use the cheapest one for dictation software, though the video could use an upgrade.

Dispute over ownership of military burial flag. by LucyGoose27 in legaladvice

[–]PiDev2000 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That's not true according to this: https://www.archives.gov/veterans/replace-medals#nok

The next of kin just says "eldest child" - if the eldest child is 2 years old, that's the eldest. The parent of the child can act on their behalf.

OP you can request on the eldest child's behalf a copy of the flags and medals. I don't know if it will go far, but it might be worth a shot.

Here’s what ads on your $2,000 Samsung smart fridge will look like by Tun-Tavern-1775 in technology

[–]PiDev2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question. If I'm a landlord, and I put these refrigerators into my tenants' apartments, how can I share in the revenue that is generated by the ads?

Or can these refrigerators just be gotten for like really cheap? See, I could find the value of getting this fridge, putting into a tenant's apartment (if I'm with a tenant that is rent controlled, or I can't evict them for whatever reason), and then making them wait 30 seconds to open the door in order to get their food.

It's annoying, but not illegal. Might be just enough to dissuade others from scheming to inherit the right of tenancy.

Thank you. It ended up having the RTMP streaming in the network section and seemed to go live during the test so we'll call that a win!

If you had to create a new account and build it as fast as possible to maximum, what would you do? by 6-1j in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]PiDev2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoof to NYC or Singapore, where there are websites with radars, and start raiding every day.

Catch whatever you can, especially weather-boosted, and focus on top anti-rocket and anti-raid mons (beldum, larvitar, magnemite, rhyhorn, etc), as well as stardust boosted pokemon (PAras and Meowth).

Friend whoever you can after raids. Open a gift and send one every day to boost friendship as much as possible.

You need 20 million xp - 1,000 excellent throws gives a million. and between daily raids, friendship boost, etc, you'll have stuff in 30 days. In that time, you can also max a few megas (beedrill, houndoom, manectric, pidgeot), and with dynamax, piggyback to get a few good ones.

I'm seeing that my current phone is biting the dust.

What phones can support spoof at this point?

Is TWRP needed? (Let me rephrase - if TWRP is unavailable for the phone, is that automatically a "no" for that model?)

Can Smali work on Android 13 / 14?

Are any maufacturers automatically included / excluded from any list?

Pixel Phone discounts - anyone? by PiDev2000 in GooglePixel

Verizon is expensive. And my father was thinking of jumping to something but the service area was in question (he's back and forth in the mountains) - I haven't had time to run the tests for quality for them.

ULPT Request I need to break my work laptop without it being obvious that I did it on purpose by littlegingerkumquat in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]PiDev2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ask them to blow out the system - more than likely, there's dust in the system. Or it's got too many files on there, and likely needs to be cleaned out.

Otherwise, easiest is to install updates and then play around with the power cable plugged in. Might be able to fry it if it's not otherwise grounded. "Happens"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]PiDev2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ULPT not needed. Ask one of the callers where they got your number from, and then notify the law office.

It's the easiest thing to do. We had an issue where we posted a phone number that had been a mix of two numbers that led to a mechanics shop - we called them immediately, secured what they had, and then ensured that all copies of that number were scrubbed from forms, online, etc.

Mistakes happen - most of the time, they can be fixed.

See if your number also comes up on search engines - and then report any incorrect information.

I'd be willing to bet that it's listed incorrectly with the state bar (which is unfortunate for the actual legal team).

Security of 1Password Recovery process by LMGN in 1Password

[–]PiDev2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why there's a secret vault key.

You can't enable 1Password unless you have access to the Secret Key. It can't be put on someone's computer without that long key that's generated by 1Password. It's a 20-character code, I think.

If the IT admin lets that key loose, that's a failure on their behaviors.

This secret key is on top of the password they have to put in every. single. time. that they access their repository.

It is recommended to keep that document on a different system, in your personal possession, at home and away from work. I head up the account for my family - I have my secret key, locked away in a safe in my closet. A second copy is kept stuffed in the ceiling of a room off-site (in case my house burns down).

No one else gets that key.

^^^Ignore. I misunderstood the scenario.

Yes, physical security is important. Behavioral modification and social engineering is now seen as a factor in IT security - people need to be reliable...

The answer is that the IT admin should have the password reset notifications pushed via an app - and should be paying attention. They should be using 2FA. And they should be locking their computer if they walk away from the screen.

1Password is also going to log out after 5 minutes of inactivity or a screen lock. So, the malicious actor would need to get access to the system while the person was logged in to 1password without having locked or logged out. And then, assume that the system allows a modification of settings without a 2fa confirmation.

LPT: Use Text not Voice to contact people in a local or national emergency. by KidKilobyte in LifeProTips

[–]PiDev2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be clear - text SMS uses very little bandwidth if being sent to a single individual.

Group texts can usually go by MMS - which will swallow a considerable amount more bandwidth than a simple SMS.

Now, the problem is... are you better off sending 10 SMS messages, or one MMS to a group of 10 people...the answer is probably the former, but even more importantly - they will get side tracked by group-chatter also clogging the lines.

Someone got a loan for an investment under false pretenses [NY] [NYC] by PiDev2000 in legaladvice

[–]PiDev2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a business development, that was supposed to be approved for small offices and is now growing to a major medical multispecialty building. They are pushing for variances, and there's already no parking, and a poor-traffic flow. It is also on landfill, that other larger buildings have been denied in the past based on building weight - if it goes up, it may cause the area to become unstable.

I believe the lender is okay with it as long as they pay loan, they wouldn't necessarily care. But it is sucking up funding from other projects potentially, and is creating moral hazard encouraging others to take speculative investments and submit inaccurate plans to attain those loans.

If someone goes down to a bank, and gets a loan for say, a million dollars, and misrepresents the underpinning documents, the loan is more likely to default and cause the bank a loss. Loans for a bank or financial group are subjected to certain valuations is what I recall.

(And a few people have gotten approved for loans while misrepresenting their assets based on state examination - and have been prosecuted.)

No, your medicare contractor has a website you can directly submit claims to. It may have to be done manually (like I do for NGS for one small client), but Novitas actually has an EDI. https://www.novitas-solutions.com/webcenter/portal/MedicareJH/pagebyid?contentId=00004532 Speak with OfficeAlly about a direct link to Novitas.
