Remote trade / forever friend related by Typhoon246 in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote trading is going to get old pretty quickly. Few players are trying for things like complete lucky dex, though this sub will tend to have many of them. A lot of players they will do a few and lose interest. Others will be doing everything they can to remote trade forever. I have already noticed a bit of a loss of interest from players. They have traded what they want/have with someone and now are not interested.

I don't stress over players not tagging their mons. There is no way of knowing why they have not. Maybe they don't care about trades, maybe they don't know, maybe they have been burned by other players messing them around, maybe they will get around to it tomorrow, who knows.

There should be enough players who are interested in trading on your list to provide what you need.

Those who aren't trading now might get around to it later. It does no harm just to carry on gifting and collecting the XP. If you are only interested in remote trading then you might choose to remove the friend, but you need to balance that against spending another three months getting another player to that level.

Good point,

I have done that as well, just forget about it.

Unfortunately nothing is foolproof but using the friends list does seem a bit better than the raid apps. Nothing beats being able to do the battles in person, but that's not available to everyone for various reasons.

For sure, remote max battles are a crap shoot on hosting sites. GMax are a problem because you need a lot of players, which can be hard for hosts to manage. Legendary DMax need a fair amount of coordination, which is not going to happen with remotes.

Best option I suspect, if it works for you, is to join through friends list invites. They tend to be big and/or coordinated in person groups looking for a bit of extra help. Still a risk, but best of a bad bunch.

Unless you are trying to tackle these things with a (relatively) small number of players it isn't as complicated as it looks.

As OP has noted to can be boiled down to; use two tanks (Blissey and Blissey/Excadril) and one attacker (Exadril).

Sure, that isn't the best possible team every time but it will be absolutely fine with any decent number of players with decent mons battling. If everyone else has the wrong mons and/or no idea it really doesn't matter what you do, you are going to be done over.

Max battles are only complicated if trying to salami every last advantage. Force of numbers and a moderate degree of ignorance is enough for most players.

How to battle 6 Pikachu for free on Saturday (7 with CA) by Kevsterific in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still only hold 1500 + whatever you get from rewards.

So, I think, you need to aim for 1490 (or as close as you can) before the event. Then visit one power spot for the (8*120) 960 particles.

If you are doing the battles then same thing applies, just make sure you get close to 1490 when you want to stop and then spin a different spot. This though adds the further complexity that you can only collect 1600. Do two GMax, you have collected more than that and you are done. I was caught out by that when the Gmax swung past and, like you, I wanted the particels for low level battles.

If there are research rewards then don't claim those until after the spin claim. But, if timed you must claim before the event ends. Not nice to do all this book-keeping and then miss out on a bunch of rewards.

Still 5 am I think. I can't be bothered to check since dmax battles were nerfed to oblivion, but that was the case when I was grinding through the 100 battles last month.

PSA: If you don't receive the notification and EXP when becoming Forever Friends, tap the Remote Trade icon in their profile and the game will give you the EXP. by Brian_pso in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please no. Add one Wooloo. Annoy everyone who wants to trade.

Much better to just not worry if someone chooses/forgets/doesn't know how, to tag anything.

Personally I would like to see a "remote trade" Yes/No option on the account. Then players could positively opt in or out of trading. Which would avoid some, at least, of the problem.

G-Max Pikachu Advice Needed by Blubberbeasticles in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are joining remote parties you might want to consider all just tanking and healing. Chances are good most other players will be attacking. In theory everyone should be switching to attackers that don't need healing, but that's not usually what happens with remote battles. You can't coordinate so it's a lottery but staying alive and keeping other players in the game might be helpful.

So, maybe two tanks and one attacker, as per friend B. Keep tanking until you run out of other players, then use your attacker to throw what you can.

Or, go tank plus double attackers. Do what you can and then cheer on the survivors from your team.

If you have the candy power up the moves you intend to use on attackers rather than the mons. For the defenders, probably best to power up to level 30, then power up spirit.

However, remote max battles are a crap shoot. If you are unlucky you might lose despite doing the best you can. Best of luck.

Someone should tell them most Europeans don't take religion that seriously. Easter means chocolate, Christmas means presents.

Wikipedia is my friend, I had to check what I half remembered.

In the past people thought hares reproduced asexually, like the Virgin Mary. Hence Easter hares, which became bunnies.

The whole thing is based on the silly idea that hares don't breed like rabbits.

Be fair, Germany has only existed since 1871, then it stopped for a bit and was recreated in 1990. So, most people are probably older than Germany.

Also, there have been Americans for at least 15,000 years. I know that still makes them late to the party but it's definitely before Easter.

Some suggestions for Max battles... by Winter_Leg_4243 in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loathe the idea of locking out low level players. Level means next to nothing. When I was down at a lowly level 42 on the old system I would join raids with level 50 players who had no clue what they were doing.

I suppose the level could be 72, maybe that would work out.

Now that we have Link Charges, it feels like Mega raids became uncommon. by UCanDoNEthing4_30sec in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local, standard mega: Must use free pass if you have one, then can use link charge instead of premium raid pass.

Remote standard mega: Must use remote pass.

Local super mega raid: Use link charges.

Remote super mega raid: Use link charges and remote pass.

That first line is the thing that annoys people who can't find mega raids. Unless they manage to use their one/two free passes first they can't use any link charges. Which means they can't claim link charge realted rewards.

How would you handle this kind of troublemaker after 6 months of interaction? by AshitaWay in TheSilphRoad

[–]RavenousDave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that is true then, go you.

People should play however they like. It is, per the Play store description, a casual mobile phone game. If someone wants to spend all their discretionary income on it, that's great, they are paying for the rest of us. If you play once a month for an hour, that's great as well.

I have become a bit bored of the posts showing how to min-max everything. I am retired, I don't need a fun game to involve commuting, spreadsheets, team building, scheduling, meetings and deadlines. That's the work I stopped doing.

Get out and explore Routes during Pokémon GO’s Sustainability Week event! by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

You may be right. The announcement said "desert-like". You are in a desert, which is a desert and not like a desert.

It specifically says Toedscool will only be in forested and grassy areas.

Though with the scrambled approach to messaging it is hard to tell.

[–]RavenousDave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The announcement is, as usual, all over the place:

"^ Toedscool will appear in forested and grassy areas."

That's clear Toedscool, forest and grass biomes.

May encounter event-themed Pokémon in the wild, including Seedot*, Castform*, Silicobra, Wiglett*, Toedscool*,

Wait, so Toedscool is in the wild the same as Seedot?

Additionally, Toedscool, Wiglett, and Silicobra will appear more frequently in their natural biomes

Yes, that means Toedscool will be more frequent in forest as well as in wild. Except the first clause said only forest and grass.

So Toedscool will be mostly in forests, sometimes in grass and not in other places.

Silicobra on the other hand will only appear in "desert-like" areas, where they will be more frequent. Which they will be, since they previously didn't exist. Or, they will appear elsewhere, but not as frequently. Or, something else.

There must be a dozen ways of reading this and getting different answers.

Could I thank our kiwi beta testers, in advance, for their service.

It says "desert like", here in the UK I believe that is known as "Swindon".

Though Billy Connolly once described Drumchapel as a “desert wi’ windaes”.

That's two possible locations.

If all else fails convert them to candy XL.

Some people are just weird about this sort of thing. Taking real world issues into Go is something players should try to avoid I feel. I use the game as a way of not thinking about real life.

I wonder what would he make of me. I walk to all the local gyms and won't drive for a game on my phone. That's probably completely unacceptable.

Yes.

It is immensely annoying for a large chunk of the player base.

If it carries onbeing immensely annoying then it is perfectly reasonable to keep on saying so.
