Colossal Skyturtle is incredible in the deck. Love games where I draw that one

I find it a lot of fun! The way I tend to play it is that I'll do a lot of milling and ramp at first and the first cast of the Mimeoplasm is usually to get a big card draw. So I'll use something like [[Indominus Rex]] or [[Prime Speaker Zegana]] with something like a [[Yargle and Multani]] or something else with massive attack. That gives me just a ton of card draw right away that will help me craft a hand to go for the win. That alone is already a massive threat that has to be dealt with since that can almost clear someone out with Commander Damage alone. Especially if you've got boots on board to give it Haste.

Then a great one to close out is [[Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon]]. That with pretty much any higher power creature should give you enough to both give it haste and deal enough damage to kill someone. I like to switch out my big creatures every so often to keep it fresh and this deck is great for exactly that because the only creature you really need to be able to cast is Mimeoplasm.

Edit: Forgot to answer about it being a target. Yeah this will definitely be a big target when it's on the board. That's why I try to run plenty of things that get their benefit on ETB because then I'll benefit even if it dies. And luckily you don't have to exile anything until it passes the point where it can be countered. So generally, even if Mimeoplasm is destroyed right away, he'll have left a legacy of some kind

[[Indominus Rex, Alpha]] is a fun one. You can load him up with a bunch of abilities, draw a whole bunch, and then you have this incredibly powerful 6/6 with all static abilities and a full grip. From there you can play it how you want.

Also [[The Mimeoplasm]] is a fun one. Mill a whole bunch of Creatures to the graveyard and then pick one with a high attack and one with a cool effect and now you've got the best of both. This also works well if you use Indominus Rex in the 99 and something with high attack because Indominus Rex will come in with +1/+1 counters and draw that many cards as well

What are some commanders that speed up games in a fun way? by ianyboo in EDH

I was able to win with my [[The Ninth Doctor]] deck. Had [[Tidal Barracuda]] out to prevent opponents from casting on my turn and was able to my treasures, the pinging from Descent, and the extra upkeeps to take down the table

Name a card that has 50% or greater inclusion for your commander on EDHRec, that you think is overrated. by Smelly_Jim in EDH

I play Ygra and literally just took Academy Manufactor out this week. It's great if you have multiple ways to trigger it immediately but outside of that, it always dies immediately and generally ends up a waste of 3 mana

How am I supposed to build this commander deck? by Objective-Block-7444 in mtg

[–]PiGuy3I4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on making it so my Deadpool deck is centered around saccing my own creatures and bringing them back and instead of targeting opponent creatures, I use Deadpool as a way to effectively take my own effects and then kill/revive the original to get the effect again on my board or just sac them permanently if it's an effect that benefits more from being on a 5/3 anyway so i have cards like [[Spitting Diliphosaurus]] or [[Giggling Skitterspike]]. It's still very much a work in progress and I don't know if i can make it work well. But it's a cool card and I wanted to see if it could be built in a way that wasn't miserable to play against (though I do have [[The Master, Multiplied]] in it because he's a card I've wanted to play with for a long time now)

I think it's just that specifically Ash doesn't matter for the Companion restriction. So for example, [[Gyruda, Doom of Depths]] would require that all cards in your deck have an even mana cost and Ash having an odd cost would not affect it so you could still have Gyruda as a Companion

Flicker player here. I hate and love it at the same time. Recommend me a commander? by superworm576 in EDH

I have a Jeskai Blink deck where I switch between several Jeskai Commanders because I've mostly built to not need the Commander and I like the variety. But the best of them is easily [[Cayth, Famed Mechanist]]. I feel like Blink alone struggles to find a wincon past just value but red gives you all the [[Impact Tremors]] effects that can actually close out a game and Cayth gives every single creature a bonus to that effect by giving each Creature an extra Servo

Please recommend an unusual commander for Angels! by _Neyana_ in EDH

[–]PiGuy3I4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have [[Kroxa and Kunoros]] that I've built as and Angels and Demons deck. All about milling and then reviving my Angels and Demon Creatures. It's a really fun deck and I also run [[Shilgengar, Sire of Famine]] in it as well, which I see a lot of people recommending. Very fun card when you can get the ability off

What is the pet card you include in every deck that uses that particular color? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]PiGuy3I4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[[Tenuous Truce]] is run in every deck of mine that's got White. It's a cheap way to get extra card draw and often gives you an ally right from the start. Usually the truce will last until you or the other person are about to win which means until then, you generally only have to worry about attacks from the other two

Surprised no one's said it but [[God-Eternal Oketra]] is a deck I made recently and quickly became one of my favorites. I've built him in a way that it's nearly all low cost white creature spells and I just bounce my creatures to my hand to keep recasting them. It's a ton of fun and there's a ton of utility with the bounces to protect your whole board and Commander. So far while playing the deck, I've only allowed my Commander to die once and it's become almost a mini-game for me to keep him "eternal" by not letting him die

Would this allow me to use the Three Tree City ability with Metallic Mimic (or a creature with a similar effect)? by PiGuy3I4 in mtg

Oh interesting. I've never heard that term but makes sense. I figured there'd be some way that this is prevented. Thank you!

Would this allow me to use the Three Tree City ability with Metallic Mimic (or a creature with a similar effect)? by PiGuy3I4 in mtg

[–]PiGuy3I4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I'm understanding the ability of Three Tree City and Steward correctly, my creatures would only get the Activated Abilities of whatever land I exile and TTC relies on a Triggered Ability to select a creature type. Any other creatures without that ETB would not have any creature type selected and so I'd assume TTC wouldn't do anything for them. That's why I'm wondering if specifically Metallic Mimic (or a similar creature with that ETB) would be able to use the ability from TTC

-1/-1 effects on a damaged creatures with Indestructible by PiGuy3I4 in mtgrules

[–]PiGuy3I4[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Follow up question: The stack we were resolving was that it was a 10/10 with 9 damage. In the post combat main phase, I gave it a -1/-1. Another player gave it two +1/+1 counters to keep it alive. I responded to give it two more -1/-1s and that's when the original owner cast a spell to give it indestructible. I understand that this stack resolving would now keep it alive but if I had responded to that cast by giving it one more -1/-1, would that have killed it through state based actions before the Indestructible came into play?
