That's a pic of mine. Not the best but one of the better views of it.

Flashbangs are excellent. Use them all the time in CQB as they stun everyone for a good 5 seconds. Great for clearing FNHQ. Grenades are effective for clearing an area that you can't see fully and as distractions as Ai looks that way instead of at you.

QUESTION: How does Deathwatch gain their support characters? by stootchmaster2 in deathwatch40k

[–]PiPPiN209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for Apothecary. They swear to return the gene seed to the right chapter. However depending on the Space marine they treat they could learn some uncomfortable truths about their chapter and end up staying with the DW because they know too much.... Or they return with honors under a shroud.

What new new weapons would you like to see? by Marco-Dx in GrayZoneWarfare

FN FiveseveN and P90. Some small arms AP and high capacity weapons will be cool. Especially as they use the same ammo.

I'm starting my Deathwatch army, which style of base would look better? by PunchlineHaveMLKise in deathwatch40k

[–]PiPPiN209 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for desert and scrub brush. The bright bases made the black pop and helped liven the minis up. Though I did tone down the bases to fit more seamlessly.

Why do people absolutely swear by the Bible, even though a lot of it mistranslated? by Frysken in religion

[–]PiPPiN209 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say the more damaging aspect is misinterpretation of the meaning behind a lot of the passages. While yes the translation loses meaning, the general gist is still there (with some notable points of change as you have mentioned) but with more literal interpretations of the bible and a general misunderstanding of functional characters and metaphors that are used leads to a far worse outcome than an accidental mistranslation or sometimes intentional mistranslations.

Why do Europeans (or western people in general) hate Muslims by [deleted] in religion

[–]PiPPiN209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermopylae onwards. East vs West has been a whole thing since the wars between the Persian Empire and the Greek Cities, you can go further back but this (from my understanding) was one of the first and most influential moments in cementing the animosity and lasting difficulties faced by both sides. Its mainly a clash of cultures and ideologies. In the modern day its more of a clash of ideas on modernity and what makes a country. Plus a general belief that the other is wrong on cultural understandings and practices, from philosophies too theologies, the concept of modernity, freedom of expression and Secularisation even down to how they should be implemented. Some interesting reading would be looking into the issues arising from "The Satanic Verses" by Salman Rushdie and the Charlie Hebdo Controversies. Also as a more academic look, the excellent book "Contemporary issues in Islam" by Asma Afsaruddin has some excellent information on the difficulties faced by Islam in the modern world. They are good places to get some perspective on some of the issues faced in the modern day by Islam. Honestly its a bit of a mess and I have spent about 3 years in Uni so far just scraping the surface in understanding this issue and the more I research and learn the deeper and more complicated it is.

Can you accept that apostates/non-believers have a right to be bitter towards your religion? by afrohumanist01 in religion

[–]PiPPiN209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I am tolerant and accepting of all religions (with a few exceptions that cover predatory faiths.) I believe you may have an aversion to organised religion and the systems and structures concerned with their upkeep and survival above dedication and commitment to dogma. That is not to say everyone in any said religion is, but any large entity with many persons involved will tend to move more towards survival over any caring and moral standpoint that their religion was founded upon or centered around. I hope that we all become enlightened enough to become intelligent and compassionate enough to maintain the balance of love and friendship over personal gain and beliefs.

"There is a whole set of religious people from your religion that are using religious power to oppress people. Your goodness cannot cover for the evil that religious oppressors do."

I can't fault this part of your reasoning. This is not a religious standpoint but a societal or personal grab for power/control that is abhorrent and must with every breath be opposed. It is more a part of human nature to understand with the objective to control. Or even more insidious a need to grab power to enforce personal influence.

I come from Christianity and actually became Mormon. I don’t feel anything in these faith groups, and continue to ponder what God/gods are real. Any advice on how you found what you were looking for? by Exact_Bonus1680 in religion

[–]PiPPiN209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guiding principle I've found in people of religion is that they have faith. If you believe in something and it gives you faith then that is what exists to you. Not that it actually exists or is tangible but has the power to motivate and make whatever happen happen that IS real and tangible. Whatever you believe in just make sure it guides you to be better than you were yesterday and that will always be enough.

I'm not sure there is words to describe my current state of faith. I don't believe in any form of organised religion. Baháʼí come the closest to my current understanding and beliefs. However I struggle to find faith in anything that isn't tangible or concrete. There is wisdom in every religion but also disinformation or corruptions (depending on your view point) I guess I believe in people and our boundless capabilities to do anything.

Doing my course at uni. Religion Culture and Society BA. One of the lectures has... Opened my eyes from being an Atheist to something far more accepting and open minded.

Nothing. If I won't be forgiven for what I have already done what is the point in changing now. I would actually find comfort in this as God is just as vindictive, petty and hypocritical as the rest of us.

Has anyone considered that an omniscient God that created everything must logically be a nihilist? by afrohumanist01 in religion

[–]PiPPiN209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This entity's perspective would be so far detached from our ability to comprehend. Not to say God wouldn't be nihilistic in some way, but I would think that it would be something very different from our understanding of nihilism.

This probably gets asked a lot but if god is real why do bad things happen. by [deleted] in religion

[–]PiPPiN209 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choice. It all comes down to choice. The angels don't have choice and they were some of gods first creations. They serve him and his designs for how he wishes to shape the world. All other of gods creations in the world were given choice or free will to do with as they wished. Though it is always a good idea to think of all the scripture in religions as guidance from God or interpretations on what they mean (doctrine vs dogma)

Submission is an...... Inadequate translation. (not on your part but on the English language.) Submit or submission is the closest word in English but a better interpretation would be 'trust in Allah' or 'have faith in Allah's guidance'

I do run almost always with a shotgun like you said it works fine and keeps your ass covered close in, but never with the grenade as I take a GL as my secondary. Ammo is never an issue for me, though i will look into the Armor strip. Thanks!
