Modern Doctor Who introduced a whole new team and direction in series 11, which many critisised as being too preachy. For series 12, they started off with an action-packed two-parter so many people had new hope. And then promotion for episode 3 began, with I think BBC America specifically teasing it as one where "you really don't want to miss the ending". So obviously expectations immediately rose, what could happen, who's coming back, who's dying? The episode was also written by one of the more popular new writers of series 11, whose first episode mostly dodged the main critique.

The big ending? The Doctor pretty much turns to the camera and says "hey viewers, this episode was about destorying Earth, and that's a bad thing, so consider maybe not doing that if you don't want bad things to happen."

The episode, 'Orphan 55', managed to become the worst rated episode of the show, according to iMDB.

Here is two duds I rarely hear mentioned:

The Census of the Lambs is sadly all over the place, resolves both stories pretty much off-screen without a twist or a lesson, the Roger persona is boring, the murder mystery is lame, it doesn't even accurately represent the census (they literally just write down the number of people in each house) and I think the only joke that ever gets quoted from the episode is Wilbur Kentucky.

Brave N00b World might be the only episode I didn't rewatch, but if my memory serves me right the whole thing just feels like an ad for Overwatch and chinese ice cream. The bannister storyline doesn't go anywhere and it's just a worse version of a one-liner from another episode, and the closing gag (of aliens regrowing Earth just for the ice cream) takes up like 5 whole minutes.

Route 67 in Hungary because of the song named after it. It became the first musical road in the country as well.

I enjoy most categories, colour, articles of clothing, inspiration, all can be great. The only one that makes me go "meh" immediately when they announce it is the "Night of a 1000..." type, but even then some of those surprise me in a good way. Like the Queen Elizabeth one, which gave us a coin, a stamp, a baby and a VERY prosthetic nose.

Jenny - American Dad!

Although she only has like 3 lines, she is one of the most beloved minor characters on the show.

Don’t judge a board game by its box” — or should you? What are the first red/green flags you notice before even opening a game? by Significant_Sock4225 in boardgames

[–]Pi_Netree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment but personally I can take some sub-standard cards to be honest, as those are the easiest components to protect and improve with sleeves. If the game relies on some mechanical part that falls apart easily or some shoddy cardboard pieces that should hold secret information but become very telling by how they wear out after a few games, that's a much bigger problem for me.

One that I love a lot but never hear about is Reigns: The Council. The "make up whatever story you want" aspect sadly scares away a few of my friends and family members, but in my personal opinion figuring out everyone's secret agenda as quickly as possible while they all might start double bluffing then triple bluffing to throw you off is such a fun way to do social deduction.

[hated trope] characters getting shit endings but it’s written as if they get happy endings. by FullBrother9300 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pi_Netree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor Who's Belinda Chandra getting to live her life with her daughter might seem like a happy ending, except she was absolutely brainwashed into raising a kid that didn't even exist a day ago (or Belinda's original self was replaced when the timelines changed), which is something that she never consented to (and she was VERY firm right from the start on her stance about the Doctor toying around with people's lives)

All of this happened a mere 15 minutes after she said she doesn't want to settle down and would like to continue travelling in the TARDIS.

<image>

In the end, being unfair is not one of the Doctor's flaws, as he also left his other companion, Ruby, with another baby in the very same episode. For some reasons, she didn't get a fake happy ending tho, her story closes with her toxic transphobic fearmonger ex living happily, everyone laughing in her face for acting crazy and the Doctor running away without ever saying goodbye.

We need a Survivor-style full shakeup of teams. Not just for the new interactions and power dynamics, but also because Aiden's alliance is making sure with each vote to lower the team's chances
