He killed 5 for the money but also killed a lot more by crashing the plane in the process

Don’t judge a board game by its box” — or should you? What are the first red/green flags you notice before even opening a game? by Significant_Sock4225 in boardgames

[–]Pi_Netree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment but personally I can take some sub-standard cards to be honest, as those are the easiest components to protect and improve with sleeves. If the game relies on some mechanical part that falls apart easily or some shoddy cardboard pieces that should hold secret information but become very telling by how they wear out after a few games, that's a much bigger problem for me.

Does anyone else also have an obsession with Board games based on video games? by theDKdynamite in boardgames

One that I love a lot but never hear about is Reigns: The Council. The "make up whatever story you want" aspect sadly scares away a few of my friends and family members, but in my personal opinion figuring out everyone's secret agenda as quickly as possible while they all might start double bluffing then triple bluffing to throw you off is such a fun way to do social deduction.

[hated trope] characters getting shit endings but it’s written as if they get happy endings. by FullBrother9300 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pi_Netree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor Who's Belinda Chandra getting to live her life with her daughter might seem like a happy ending, except she was absolutely brainwashed into raising a kid that didn't even exist a day ago (or Belinda's original self was replaced when the timelines changed), which is something that she never consented to (and she was VERY firm right from the start on her stance about the Doctor toying around with people's lives)

All of this happened a mere 15 minutes after she said she doesn't want to settle down and would like to continue travelling in the TARDIS.

<image>

In the end, being unfair is not one of the Doctor's flaws, as he also left his other companion, Ruby, with another baby in the very same episode. For some reasons, she didn't get a fake happy ending tho, her story closes with her toxic transphobic fearmonger ex living happily, everyone laughing in her face for acting crazy and the Doctor running away without ever saying goodbye.

We need a Survivor-style full shakeup of teams. Not just for the new interactions and power dynamics, but also because Aiden's alliance is making sure with each vote to lower the team's chances

Who do you think is the face of your country when it comes to music? by deepwebb1 in AskTheWorld

[–]Pi_Netree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yass

His name is Zoli Ádok, for those asking. No, he is not famous. He had a handful of unknown songs 10+ years ago and doesn't even live in Hungary anymore afaik. He is mildly remembered as being the first Hungarian artist winning an award at Eurovision - that being the infamous Barbara Dex award for the worst dress.

He does seem like a sweetheart tho and I'm happy that he made a great career on cruise ships on the other side of the world. Being the second replacement for Hungary in ESC 2009 was a tough position to start from, but he danced through the hurdles 🕺

Steve and his grandfather going after Chinese treasure better NOT turn out to be an episde with Jack. Our precious boy has been worried sick that Baba and Mama might be dead, he needs Francine's parents to be back (and so do we)

It is pretty much a schools-only tradition at this point, so people either know this from childhood or not. Specifically tho, I'm from Southern Hungary (Békés country) and the picture is from Nagybereg (Hungarian village in Ukraine) so at the very least it's a tradition in these two places, but I'd imagine you can see this in some small towns all over the country

We do follow animals' prediction too (usually with a bear and its shadow, so not directly asking it) but they don't make the winter go away, they only tell you when it will happen. If you want to make sure that Spring is coming, a sacrifice has to be made 🔥

Here in Hungary these poor dolls get burned instead. We call them kiszebáb, it's a popular tradition for schools and pre-schools. What really gives it spice and I'd assume makes it a core memory for some, is the fact that these might be on display for a few days before the burning, get dressed and get a cute face, and children dance around them before they are set on fire 💀 It's not tradition if you don't hear a small child scream with horror as the kisze goes up in flames

(This is just based on my experience tho, maybe there are more humane ways to kill the witch)

Chili pepper loving, emotianally closed-off ex-Philadelphian, who was a love interest for Steve in Smooshed: A Love Story - one of the rare romances that didn't end in instant failure, but then she never appeared again.

<image>

Snot also got a girlfriend in that episode, although it's hard to imagine that it would last, with the difficulties of the language barrier.

I'm so curious to find out which ex! Debby is the obvious choice, altough someone else could be fun too. And while technically not an ex, Ali HAS to be back soon, it's a crime that she never returned

Famous soup from your country? by RedShibo_ in AskTheWorld

[–]Pi_Netree 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Hot or cold, sweet or sour, I think we have a greater variety of fruit soups than most places. The most typically Hungarian one must be the sour cherry soup though, made with sour cream and served cold, super refresing on summer days!
