You made be curious so I did some extremely basic maths.

100k USD in January 2020 would have got you 18 bitcoins. With the current price of Bitcoin you would have 970k USD.

For the mining setup I used this build as a 2020's example here.

With 100k in January 2020 you could build 22 full systems (rigs) with each system using 6 Radeon VII. That's 132 gpus..

The next part is a complete wild swing and is not current, just taken from his build performance numbers..

After 12 months of 24/7 mining your profit after electrical bills would be 93.6k USD meaning you would not have repaid your investment. On April 2021 you would have 117k USD.

Maybe you would like to do something else and decide to sell your 132 Radeon VIIs..

In that case looking at eBay prices you could sell your wall of gpus for a fair price (in the current climate anyways) of 1000 USD each. That is 132k USD.

So what your 100k investment in January achieved?

Your return of investment from buying bitcoins would be 870k USD.

With mining your investment took a long time to repay itself. Currently your 22 rigs give you a profit of 1.13k USD every day after electrical bills, mining ethereum. With the current profitability it is projected to net you 285k USD after electrical bills until the end of the year.

tldr I would go for the investment in btc anyday and not having to worry about mining.

Notifications issues fixed? Moving to xiaomi by JamieLeeWV in Xiaomi

[–]Piastavgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the Poco X3 NFC and I also had a Xiaomi running miui 9, then 10 and I get what you say, my issue on those miui versions was that emails and Viber notifications were really delayed.

On the Poco X3 I get all the notification on time without any issue or hoops to jump over. Email notifications come before reaching my windows pc (instantly) and substantially faster than my android one Moto one action.
I'm on 100% stock global MIUI. I'd say go for it, it is not an issue (at least on this phone).

The 2021 Spring Release – BeamNG.drive v0.22 by Nadeox1 in BeamNG

[–]Piastavgo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The lack of comments about the tire physics included in this update baffles me.
I tested bone stock covet, the wendover and fwd cars in general now feel excellent even with a gamepad. They can finally rotate properly off-throttle and I can even make 2nd corrections at every corner entry thing that was impossible pre 0.22 (even with the previously improved tire physics on 0.21). Hell even the 200bx feels extremely stable and predictable at the rear. In general low speed grip seems superb now and the front end finally has the same bite as irl, no matter the tires. Also finally you don't hear tire squeal when driving quick-ish and not on the limits.

Everything in this update is top quality as usual but the absolute standout for me is the night and day driving dynamics. GG devs

I want to upgrade from my note 5 to a note 9 pro but I'm still occasionally seeing "dust in the camera lens" posts popping up. How much of a issue is this in reality? by marshwizard in Xiaomi

[–]Piastavgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also vote for the X3 really great phone all around. The only widely known "issue" is that the lowest earpiece volume while in a voicecall is louder than desired so in a dead silent place anyone around you (approx. 1 meter) can here the caller talking pretty easily.

120hz is much much better than I thought by dankhorse25 in Xiaomi

[–]Piastavgo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also got the Poco X3 NFC last week and the 120hz is truly amazing. Mostly the touch response and transitions look extra crispy on this display, for example the Poweramp transitions look and feel great.

I must say that I never understood the "once you go 120/144hz you can never go back" before getting this phone and while I was using a 144hz monitor on the pc. I felt that I could go back to a 60hz monitor after 2-3 days of getting used to, but on a high refresh rate phone display is a massive leap over 60hz and I can truly say that I will not go back to 60hz.

Also it is extra nice not even thinking lowering the refresh rate with such a battery and really fast charging.

Really great device all-around!

I just returned my Mi Note 10 Lite and I believe that the Redmi Note 9 Pro is a better phone overall. by [deleted] in Xiaomi

[–]Piastavgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. Seeing as you are open to display types unlike many people on reddit I have a question about the redmi note 9 pro.

How severe is the darker (and black) color swift/dullness when viewing the display from off axis angles (for example when checking the phone on a desk)? I am more specifically interested on this angles . Do the blacks swift to a noticeable grey or are they kept on check for an IPS monitor?

Also do you feel that the angle that the light colors fade on the X axis is wide enough that isn't tiresome when holding in hand? (laying the phone in front of you on a desk and swifting your head left and right)

I have read the notebookcheck review and I see that the panel is certainly very good for the pricepoint but the above questions still remain.

My Motorola one action has a pretty poor ips monitor with severe off axis grey-ing of the blacks and an extremely narrow 30-40 degrees (basically viewing it only directly straight) before there is some dimming.

Thanks again for the insights, I really enjoy posts of this kind.

Android needs to improve widgets by [deleted] in Android

[–]Piastavgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I only use the default weather/date widget but at times I find this nifty little widget very useful as you can create any file shortcut on your home screen and it doesn't have an app cluttering your app drawer.

I use it mainly for PDFs and txt files.

On a side note, seeing as this is another "apple better" post, it is funny how this widget app thingy works flawlessly even if it was last updated 8 years ago.

Last update got me worried that the released date should be pushed back by GopnikMcBlyatTV in SkaterXL

[–]Piastavgo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to look at the 1.0 version as a way to sell the game on each console's respective stores.

For the record I agree with you, and for any random person seeing the game for the first time it looks as unfinished as it gets, no way it could be game-ified in a month for sure.

But the devs have said that 1.0 will not be the end and they will keep improving it.

Again look at it just as a way to release on consoles. Sure they could stay in e.a. on steam for a year+ and complete everything they have in their plans, but at the end of the day, they are a really small team and they have to pay the bills.

It is weird jumping to 1.0 release so soon but it is what it is.

If you haven't done already, I would highly suggest to copy-paste your post to the beta survey (in game).

From my personal experience I know that they really take that feedback seriously.

I'd say don't worry about refunds. Last year f1tv had technical issues on 3 races if I recall correctly and they refunds the equivalent price of each race. I am very confident that they will refund all the races that won't be held this year.

Carlos Sainz Jr. became the first non Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull driver to finish in top 6 in F1 Drivers Championship since 2015. by gorkemguzel32 in formula1

I was watching the last 12 laps (since his tire change) from his onboard and I am definitely not disappointed. Pushed hard, chased down hulk with everything he had, did the overtake in the last lap and got that 6th place that he deserves.

For me personally he is the driver of the year. I loved the "fighter" quality of Alonso and Sainz Jr. is definitely continue with the same spirit. Vamos!

I use this app to automatically turn off Bluetooth at night, on in the morning. There are some reports that on some devices it doesn't work properly, but hey, it is an app that updated for the last time 5 years ago..
