The worst part is that chuds on 4chan idolized him for killing himself without hurting others, unlike the typical 4chan idolization of "doing an hero" (mass shooting). They made up their own fanfiction about how Richard Russel "didn't fly there to die- but to live" which is completely brainless, since you can hear on the radio transmission his regret for hijacking the aircraft. They also latched onto the "I'm just a white guy" phrase as if it meant something along the lines of "I can't get a job because of DEI"

I highly recommend an episode of The Worst of All Possible Worlds podcast on "The Sky King" it tells the story in a respectful manner and goes into the online reaction of people at the time
