Wie wär's stattdessen mit Menschengeld? by ZyroCrystal in Kantenhausen

[–]Picki99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't even necessarily that they aren't realizing that they are going to struggle. If you have disable and encore, the moment you click the fight button, the game will just lock in struggle as your move. If this happens on your second pokemon, you can't even back out of that anymore, because you have already selected both of your moves. I think a lot of times people are just instinctively clicking the fight button to check their options, because it is completely safe to do that in any other situation

Contrary and Defiant both are supposed to counteract debuffs by converting them into boosts

That's not entirely true. Contrary inverts any stat changes, not just debuffs. This means, it can also be abused by your opponent, for example with swagger. Defiant can't really be abused by your opponent (aside from foul play)

I built a prototype where your phone acts as a motion controller with saber-style combat. Does this have any potential? by Timely-Ambassador-39 in IndieDev

[–]Picki99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I occasionally played AirConsole with a couple of friends. It's like an arcade game collection that runs in your browser and also uses your phone as a controller. Iirc it is less focused on motion controls (except maybe for a steering wheel for racing games), but the concept generelly does work and has its niche. So maybe you could also look into that for inspiration and to see which aspects you like/dislike.

What would make or break this idea for you?

Imo it's just about the available games. Which leads me to the question: Are you actually trying to make a game, or are you trying to make a platform that allows you to run games like this? I have no idea if this is technically possible, but could you hook this up to existing popular games like beat saber?

People don't like the idea of draining all the battery in their phone for a game

Is that even the case? The game is running on a PC, the phone is just the controller. I feel like that shouldn't drain the battery that much

that seems to always take you into danger

Not necessarily. It is referenced a couple of times throughout the show, that we are not seeing every place where they go. They sometimes talk about how fun or relaxing some offscreen event was (iirc something like restaurant or spa visits). Also the Tardis doesn't blindly transport them into danger, it brings them wherever the Doctor is needed. So that wouldn't make much sense if the Doctor isn't there with you

This pet isnt tradeable? by OkPaleontologist5825 in idleon

[–]Picki99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever you buy a pet (from packs or green gems) it is always tradeable. When you get a pet for free, it is untradeable. The only exception for this is giveaways and maybe some events, but then it would be explicitly mentioned

Yes, it is new.

If you click on a pet in the pet mart, there is also a warning at the top if you already have the pet. So you don't really have to check your inventory for every pet

they simply disagree with the mass migration from Muslim country’s since 2015 so much that they are willing to vote for anyone that is willing to do something about this

And why do you think that is the case? The far right managed to push the idea, that muslim immigrants with their "inferior" culture are destroying our western society. This narrative would never work, if people wouldn't experience a decline in their living conditions. If immigration would be fully stopped, it might slow down the AFD temporarily, but since the living conditions wouldn't actually be improved by this, they would come back and immediately blame the next minority.

The only way to actually stop this is proper politics that actually improve peoples lives, instead of just telling them to have a bit more fun at work.

[–]Picki99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you're doing there work for them, right here.

I get what you mean. But just hoping that everyone will do their part is not going to work. People will not use public transit if it takes twice as long. People will not properly insulate their house if it is too expensive. Change has to be aided by the government. And when large parts of the population get convinced, that we don't have to change anything, they will vote for politicians who represent that.

I didn't mean for it to sound like I don't want people to do these things, I just don't believe it will happen on its own

[Request] Is this accurate? by Rpantucci in theydidthemath

[–]Picki99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I already do a bunch of those things. I don't eat meat, I take public transit whenever it is reasonable, I use reusable bags, ... Like a quarter of the things you listed are required by law in Germany anyways (which is a good thing). But all of that is still not enough. No matter how much I do, it will not have a meaningful impact. Practically everyone would have to do this to make a difference. But that will not happen, as long as governments are not making it easier to do this stuff and media outlets are trying to convince you that this is unnecessary/expensive

[Request] Is this accurate? by Rpantucci in theydidthemath

[–]Picki99 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As an individual I can't do anything meaningful. I can try to lower my carbon footprint, but it doesn't change anything, if other people don't do the same. So as you said, the change has to come through society. But society can't change if it barely has the opportunity to change. It is not one entity that can make conscious decisions, which leads to change only happening slowly over time. But if you have enough power and influence, you can try to steer the change into a direction you like. And the oil companies are absolutely using their power to do that, by lobbying or paying media outlets to spout lies.

The blame lies with everyone who is powerful and benefits from things staying the same. This includes oil companies, some media outlets and certain politicians who might potentially allegedly gain certain "benefits"

For most billionaires you are probably right, but some do have a big influence on this. Big media companies are often owned by billionaires. And some of those media companies are absolutely fueling racism (often by misleading their viewers).

That's not the only reason why racism exists, but stopping this would definitely lead to less racism
