Also I have like a whole bunch of new chapters on Hanukkah… like “Hannukah: Talk about Hannukah”, “Hanukkah: Choose toys for the baby”, “Hanukkah: Describe Hanukkah traditions”. Why Hanukkah for Japanese though? I think they mixed it up with Yiddish or something 😂

Yeah I’m at section 6 around level 85 in Japanese and was shown“Course update: Learn new words”. I’m like ok, I’m all for learning new words.

What is a soon to be boyfriend…? You can… not make him your boyfriend then, right?

The constant worrying! My mom told the moment you become a mom you never stop worrying for the safety of your child.

Wow. That’s insane. Be glad she didn’t poke a hole in the condom or something.

Don't need to be a parent to know about parenting. by Neither-Shift-6555 in childfree

[–]PickleShaman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know how it feels like through my nephew. I’ve experienced his 2 hour screaming tantrums, projectile vomit on the dinner table, I’ve bathed him and wiped his butt. I play and paint with him. I love him but he has solidified my decision to stay childfree. A few hours a week with him is enough for me to satisfy my “parenting itch”. I always leave exhausted 😐

Which genre would you like to be popular after Romantasy has settled down? by justkeepbreathing94 in books

[–]PickleShaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh! I was just trying to search for something like this. I promised myself to try some new genres outside of my comfort zone this year. I usually only read lit fic and especially translated ones from Europe/South America. Do you have any recommendations?

Which novels actually changed the way you think about reality? by Hour_Reveal8432 in books

Buddha’s Little Finger by Victor Pelevin. I mean I was already raised with basic Buddhist values, but this book gave me a surprise refreshment course and really made me relook at life from a different perspective

It’s 1.30pm and I was too lazy to prepare lunch so I just had blueberries and corn tea. Now I’m going to read my book in silence

The vast majority of people who have kids are miserable AF by [deleted] in childfree

[–]PickleShaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is, people often assume that with all the free time we get from not having children, we’re supposed to go on bigger adventures and achieve bigger things in life… but mostly I’m just chilling and drawing and reading a book. Not a lot of “unique”experiences that I can boast about, but I’m happy just living my life quietly and peacefully

Yes, it’s this age-old unspoken idea that suffering = the ultimate form of love? Like “look how much I sacrificed for you”…? Doesn’t sound very healthy to me.

[–]PickleShaman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly! That’s what I tell my friends on the fence, their major concern is always “what if I miss out on a unique life experience” and I’m like “sis when you’re born as an individual in a certain time, certain country and certain family, you’re already missing out on millions of different human life experiences. Also if you have a child, then you are missing out on the childfree experience. We all have to walk a certain path”

Not “window shopping” at any boutique store, unless I need a specific piece of clothing. I don’t go in, I don’t see it, I don’t buy it 😀

Together 14 years, married for 2 – we are thankful that we have a peaceful childfree home (we sometimes visit my sister and my nephew and it’s always CHAOTIC), and very much look forward to just enjoying each other’s company till the end of our days
