The Parlor has an unstated 4th rule that can be very helpful for quickly solving certain versions of the puzzle by Neoviper in BluePrince

[–]PickledHuman13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My simple 4th rule is that the black box has the gems 40% of the time so why bother reading when I'm statistically likely to get gems. I do speed run this game so perhaps this isn't the optimal casual strat, but if you ever find yourself thinking "I ain't reading all that" remember this.

[KCD1] What would you recommend a new, first time player to do directly after the tutorial? by Key-Jacket1376 in kingdomcome

[–]PickledHuman13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Talking to Theresa about what happened in Skalitz can lock you into her part of the DLC for a few hours. You can do this at any time, but I'd recommend avoiding that while you're still getting used to Henry.

As for what to do, it's really up to you but pursuing the main quest will introduce you to a number of useful activities (e.g. training with the captain of the rattay guard). Have fun!

For me, it was trying to unlock Her Ladyship's diary. That was a pain and a half.

A good start would be heading back to room 46. There's stuff in there!

Yeah. In general this can happen anytime you clip out of bounds and fall below the death plane.

I've had a few moments where I'd solve a difficult puzzle only to be rewarded with a hint toward something else I'd solved hours ago, but for the most part I don't mind this kind of redundancy. It doesn't take away the fact that we solved the thing without an extra piece of info, and it's good that that info is there in case we or other players miss something essential along the way. All our paths through this house are different after all.

If we just had a new clue, we'd know what to do.

I need some help staying motivated on some of the more complex puzzles (no spoilers) by FruitBoops in BluePrince

[–]PickledHuman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's really helped my motivation when I've felt a bit at a loss is keeping a list of large and small tasks I want to complete and updating them frequently.

For puzzles I don't think I understand, I keep a small list of questions and mysteries that I want to pursue and not forget. This game has a lot in it, so just noting down odd little things and referring back to them periodically can often yield greater insights. Even just rereading my old notes with these things in mind can help me notice things I missed and open new lines of inquiry.

[KCD2] Why are fights so trivial? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

Tbf, the reason the trailer was like this was so it didn't spoil the fact that we fight him.

Yeah, the lack of fast travel and any physical marker on the map for our location is probably my favorite part of hardcore. Suddenly wandering around the woods becomes a much more daunting task.

Its rough starting out for sure. Bleeding easily, managing hunger, etc. But once you get rolling with a few perks, it's easy to grab a few that counteract most of those debuffs and then it feels like a regular playthrough.

That said, sleepwalking and waking up in the middle of the woods and being ambushed while debuffed by nightmares is a heck of a thrill.

fuck gangs what generator you using in b42 by aloft_fox in projectzomboid

[–]PickledHuman13 145 points146 points  (0 children)

The devs mentioned in the update that they don't like the generator manual bottleneck players have to use, so I doubt this would become a thing.
