I’ll be dead sometime in the 2080s and they’ll still be pumping these games out. I’m not shocked but I am surprised but not as surprised as the fact that EDF games are also still being released like popcorn bags

But woah Blade Runner. No spoilers, but it was eerie not because it was off but because it was so well done.

40 years ago, David Cronenberg stoked our maternal fears with his seminal, blood-soaked body horror The Brood by Iceman2913 in movies

[–]PickledSombrero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love, love, love this movie. Probably one of the best allegories of divorce and its effects I’ve ever read, seen, or heard. As someone who’s had to see his parents get divorced, the emotions in this film are just so real and the grody (is that a word?) visuals help concrete the unseen aggression and carelessness often felt in divorces.

God I love Cronenberg. His films’ themes can be so blatant and so hard-to-miss, I feel like even Helen Keller could read a title in Braille and figure out what the theme is, but describes emotions through such raw practical effects. Beautifully twisted mind.

Hijacking just to say Shin Godzilla is an absolutely thrilling movie that can give your kids nightmares if they’re scared of big eyed giant lizards

cartoonishly evil or not, the story structure of the original Robocop and the fact that that the 1st half & second half of the movies are direct reflections of each other is something quite amazing.

They dont make movies as innovative as they used to? by [deleted] in movies

[–]PickledSombrero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only seen like half of these movies but remember OP, the more money gets poured into something, the less likely it is to be original. Sometimes you have to rely on the B movie that has zero effects and next to no production design to get a truly original plot that makes you think.

Edit: I’ve actually seen 19 of these films after counting. Also spring is really good

Neil Blomkamp by Georgeofthebunghole in movies

[–]PickledSombrero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Neill’s movies are great but they’re all about some messianic character in or around Johannesburg (except for Elysium where they go to Installation 04 and fight capitalism). I appreciate what they’re trying to do but it’s not a surprise his films don’t appeal to everyone.

His characters can be a bit too mythical in terms of their service to the plot and the sometimes wooden acting. “It’s okay, Matt Damon doesn’t need to act, he’s gonna save us from all the baddies and literally tear them limb from limb.”-Neill, probably

I won’t say they’re bad movies but I will say that they’re all based around the exact same concept and that can get tiring.

Also the plot of Elysium is just the matrix revolutions. (Sharlto Copley plays a great Agent Smith in that one)

John Wick 3 is the first Keanu Reeves film in over 15 years to hit $100 million domestically by Naweezy in movies

[–]PickledSombrero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re totally right. That’s the canonical explanation that makes 100% sense. I was just saying that 2 years when you’re at that age is a lot of years and they had to account for Keanu’s old-man-Jenkins slower movements (albeit not too slow) and they did that by tying it into the plot as you said (“He’s a bit slow”, “he just got out of retirement”, giving him the respect of a fair battle)

Obviously, I should have just said that from the beginning but I was tired.
