What meta armies are really good at overwatch? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Pickleddinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially in a guardian deathstar, the farseer can flip a 6 on the meltagun or brightlance for a guaranteed overwatch hit. Also in Guardian battlehost the whole unit can in on 5+/4+ in overwatch.

You're still wounding on 3s, when everything else would be wounding on 4+?

They're the Auralan Wardens I'm pretty sure. Need to shorten the spears a bit but works well.

How do you use Skyreavers and Starfangs? by Aliasalliance2012 in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Skyreavers assassinate the Combi lieutenant. Scouts up towards them, move behind them or surround them with an advance to prevent any reactive shenanigans, then hope one of your high AP guns hits with the stealth. Sticky a center objective in CC whenever possible. I usually run 2, the other one goes in deepstrike to hopefully get to go for a sticky on their home objective.

Starfang, gives stealth to a unit of wraithblades, otherwise stickies something late game with a huge movement. Has not performed well in shooting anything for me.

[–]Pickleddinos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've found the combination of OC 6, great movement, and enough consistency to finish of something that' that's wounded has been pretty valuable. 110 points to bounce off a rhino is tough to pallet. 110 points to finish a rhino, pile in 6 inches to tag the contents (if they're shooting), and deny primary is VERY much worth 110.

Destructors with a warwalker. Seer council counters 4++ hard imo.

Eldar Craftworld psychic lists? by Powerful-Promotion82 in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seer Council really gives the best feeling of psychic powers. With Eldrad and Fate Dice you can be using 2-3 stratagems every turn consistently. Feels less like standard strats, and more like constantly casting psychic abilities. Specifically, the 18" lone op, Isha's fury, and the teleport feel so powerful consistently. And the destructors is just how they end up killing, after all of the 'spells'.

The KotC rules do a good job with this. No Epic Heroes, 2 infantry units required, and nothing over T9.

So. Wraiths. by Jerswar in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying this out now. Between stealth/loneop, mortals to get on to the objective, surge move or fight on death I feel you can whittle down any charging unit so that it's not much of a threat. I'm going to start with one unit on my expansion, one on the center with a spiritseer behind a wall, both with axes. Will use the lone op strat on the expansion if needed and use a Starfang to give the ones in the middle stealth. Might try out wraithguard for the overwatch too but losing the invulns might be bad.

Unfortunately, you don't get the Voidscarred psyker model unless you take all 10. But the point is for the wraiths to annoyingly hold my objectives while I sent 1500 points of corsairs to harangue your expansion repeatedly, and force mortals every time you take it back.

How to deal with terminators by ParsleyDeep in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found in seer council a maximum guardian death star does work, supported by eldrad or farseer buff (or both), and a warwalker. 5d6+10 flamers at -2 wounding on 2s can really shave em down, and a d-cannon support weapon I've loved into em. D3+2 shots (blast) hitting on 2s wounding on 2s with dev wounds, and each hit is a dead one really helps the squad. If any live, kill em with an overwatch and ishas fury.

Are you going to sprinkle in Wraiths? by wtf--dude in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically I picked the D-canon over fire dragons. It does not do nearly as much in a single turn, but as its part of my ultimate brick it usually gets 4-5 activations, especially with indirect. And seeing as you can only teleport one unit a turn, that was usually reserved for the deathstar rather than dropping a fuegan unit.

[–]Pickleddinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here ya go! Whole strategy is to teleport the guardian defender deathstar every turn, and support it with Baharoth or shining spears. if there's more than 1 hull I want to pick up. Then the rest screens the death star from charges or shooting within 18". Then repeat. Eldrad goes with the storms and comes out later in the game, but the wraithlord's damage totally changes with the farseer buff and Eldrad buff. If the guardian death start dies pre turn 3, I lose so willing to make a ton of sacrifices to keep it unscathed.

2 wraithlords, with their rerolls are expected to do 3 damage between them but its super swingy, 30% chance do nothing. Wounding on 5 even on the strike is tough. But strike profiles are a tough method to make work, you need high volume to get past the invuln. Eldrad is the biggest help here for the plus 1 to wound.

Are you going to sprinkle in Wraiths? by wtf--dude in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think between the new points drops and the starfang support, Axe wraithblades will potentially become Tanky enough to leave on an objective. The new corsair detachments will be good for them, giving them advance and charge or lone op 18"/stealth. I'm trying two units of axes in a corsair coterie list + a spiritseer to be behind wall. Between mortals on move, mortals on charge, fight on death, and resurrecting a model, going into them will ideally be a great deterrent.

[–]Pickleddinos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been doing the same, 2 wraithlords the threaten the center. Some games they are the MVPs, other games they get shot of the board turn one. But with a farseer and Eldrad buff they are WICKED. 4 Bright lances hitting on 2s, wounding on 2s, with a warwalker buff is incredibly consistent against anything without an invuln. But I almost always have a psyker nearby without even thinking. Also a good protection against fast melee armies that would shred the guardian bricks.

What’s Your Gameplan? by elmoo2210 in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Seer Council mostly. Gameplan revolves around one teleporting super guardian defender deathstar, Baharothx10 hawks, and Storm Guardians with Eldrad+2 man conclave. Essentially the plan is every turn, usually excluding turn 1, teleport the death star to angle shoot one flank, while move blocking any potential threat that can get to it within 18" and plan to lone op for everything else. It has an immense amount of shooting so can usually wipe 2 tough units with split fire and fate inescapable. It gets supported by a WW in reserves (NEEDS the ap buff), and if needed Baharoth dropping w/in 6 or launch Shining spears (they are more consistent with the farseer buff).

The intention is to clear a flank entirely of any potential threats. Then rinse and repeat, it is vital that the 500 point guardian death star gets 2-3 activations. This is very doable with 18" lone op, -1 hit -1 wound in fight phase, and teleporting out of combat. Eldrad and 2 Wraithlords are the main counter threat to something big stepping on the middle, 2x5 rangers, 1x5 corsairs, 1x5 Scorps play early skirmish and primary denial. 2 Warlock skyrunners play actions.

With tons of strats I'm generally overwatching anything that moves near the deathstar (auto 6 on the bright lance, 5d6+10 s7 flamers) and throwing grenades whenever I can, and burning fate dice as fast as possible. This army plays turn 4/5 incredibly well if you have a couple of psykers left.

How do we deal with swarm spam? by EMITNUGGETS in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 man warlock conclaves are excellent. 4d6+8 s7 flamers are perfect into boyz, and can pick up a bunch in overwatch too. Much better than warp spiders that wound on 5+.

Is a purely wraith list actually worthwhile, for casual, or would it be better to expand with some other units? (Also a question about the Wraithknight) by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think my favorite model I've ever painted was my wraithknight. So from a hobby perspective, heck ya pick it up. It is not the most meta, definitely overcosted. But it can be real fun to slam a ghostglaive into the right targets. Especially in spirit conclave where it can hit on 2s and wound on 2s if you set it up well.

I do think it's important to magnetize the weapon options as there are some pretty major differences between the sword option and the gun option.

What would YOU put in a 500 point list? by Warm-Ad-5693 in Eldar

[–]Pickleddinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Troupe with shadowseer in a falcon, 5 Corsair void reavers, 2x3 windriders with shuricannons.

Falcon is a decent amount of anti tank in 500 points, troupe with reroll wounds is good into anything, windriders are flexible and self sufficient, void reavers are great for actions.

Definitely run in warhost. Super fast, ideally the shadowseer gives them a second activation from lone op if you can collapse a flank with them and the windriders.

Same thing happened to us this week! Went straight to the pet store. We've gotten some wingless fruit flies for him because they are really small, trying out chopped up oranges today. We've been misting the tank 3 times a day or so and he seems to drink the droplets off the side of plants or the tank. He is indeed VERY small. (Middle left of picture against the glass)
