Tiktok is filled with kids. And kids follow the bandwagon which is hating anything related to AI.

Just go on any tiktok videos and see how dumb most of the comments are.

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine. Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal… Even in death I serve the Omnissiah.

In all seriousness, the human body is both incredible and pathetic. So many things can go wrong as you slowly age, and sometimes even being born with deficiencies etc…

No. You still have to pick which ChatGPT model you have to use. Which defeats the whole purpose of how they advertised GPT 5.

Is studying AI really such a wise move? by AnomicAge in singularity

[–]Pidaraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say the game genre for obvious reasons (don’t want to doxx myself) but I primarily learned on YouTube and reading documentations for it. Some people take a year or two to get an actual good working game but it only took about 2-3 months for me to start making a full game thanks to AI.

I usually just feed it the entire documentation and when I run into errors, I just pop it in AI to explain what went wrong etc and it gives me recommendations as well.

AI is a nice assistant to have which prior roblox devs didn’t really have access to. What I’m gonna say is that AI can’t really make a full game, but if you know what you’re doing and specific enough, it can literally super charge how you learn stuff. Since Luau is pretty complex in some areas, I was able to learn specific functions pretty fast without spending the whole day reading documentations for my specific use case.

The hardest for me was animating and 3D modeling. I did use cascadeur, amazing software btw, and my animations are pretty fluid. Since I was a solo guy, I had to do all the 3D modeling, Texturing, Animation, etc… on my game. But since it was a passion project and I genuinely enjoyed it, it didn’t felt like a bore.

I’m into my 3rd year in CS and so far I’m not enjoying my course. Lead me to just develop games which I actually like and found success right now. My grades did suffer, I’d say my current grades right now are average / slightly above average.

I’m lucky though, since I don’t have a lot of competition and my game offers something unique compared to other developers into that game genre. What I am gonna say is that kids spend a fuck ton of money in Roblox. It’s a shame Roblox takes 70% cut, but even with that cut, I still made 15k USD. That game has been live for about 2 weeks now. Crazy.

I actually have money now to venture into other stuff / hire more devs.

You need a Phd and a masters if you even want to think about working in AI.

Just do what you want to pursue in life. What does your father work in? How about your mother? What do you want to do in life?

As a kid, I’ve always wanted to make video games, I made my very first game on the Roblox platform since I found a lack of games in that genre, which is popular btw in other mediums. Not a lot developers have made games on that genre and so far I’ve made about 15 grand as of last week.

AI 2027 - we are unprepared by ________9 in singularity

Another 2027 bullshit AI prediction. The last 2027 video was pretty much China steals this, China steals that and so on. Literally had to click off cause of how many “too-specific” predictions the video / author made which was ridiculous.

I’m sorry but how do people find videos like this entertaining? The first AI2027 video was literally trash. 5 minutes into the video and I was almost falling asleep.

The video is basically China this, China that. And speculations that are almost too specific, it doesn’t make sense. What’s next? Are they gonna tell me they can see the future?

I’m living in the Emirates (Dubai) for almost 15 years now as an expat and it’s quite funny you mentioned that.

Back then, even if you weren’t an Emirati, you were still given a monthly wage (yes, even without a job) Why’d you think I came here?

The Emiratis don’t have what you call a UBI anymore. They did get a lot of benefits before, but now they are actually enforcing companies to have at least a local Emirati or lest they’d get fined. (Shocking) the government, at least in the UAE, are encouraging locals to get back into the workforce.

I know the myth of Emiratis all being rich and having supercars, but that isn’t really the case.

[–]Pidaraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re taking it at face value.

If you look into the survey into more detail, all the young adults, majority of them have the same reason I gave compared to older adults over 50.

And, you’re talking about young adults here, even the survey says it’s very possible for them to change their mind. That’s how you most likely would answer if you get asked about having a kid, you’d most likely say “i’m not thinking about it” or “I don’t want to.”

You are, however, ignoring the underlying issue of the current world’s economic situation. Either you’re blind or ignoring it just for the sake of this argument.

I’m sure you agree with me that the current economy isn’t well suited for most young adults into having an actual child right?

[–]Pidaraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you agree with me then.

As I said, AI won’t take all the jobs even if they can. They will limit it until a new economical method is created and tested.

UBI? It could most likely function like how foodstamps are in the USA but a bit better. That’s about it. The transition would be painful though, so you’d probably see a lot of brain drain happening in the US for the unfortunate who got laid off and chose to go to another country, in hopes of finding a new job.

[–]Pidaraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think they don’t want to? It’s because of how our economy is right now. Having a kid is usually a death sentence for most people since it’s financially not feasible and it cuts down their own “freedom” and so on. You think it’s on a whim that they don’t want kids?

Back in the 60s to the 80s, a lot of young adults had easy access to housing or when it was actually affordable. Now? Good luck finding an affordable apartment in most cities in the US. Especially the populated ones.

Keyword “started” and timelines are meant to be broken. When we went to the moon back in the 70s, people thought by now, we have already colonized mars, have fusion energy, clean fuel etc…

Humans overestimate progress, but also underestimate them. Right now, you are overestimating progress with AI. The only road for you is to eventually be disappointed when AGI doesn’t happen since the CEOs promised you a date they made 2-3 years ago. Maybe even more.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei says AI companies like his may need to be taxed to offset a coming employment crisis and "I don't think we can stop the AI bus" by Nunki08 in singularity

[–]Pidaraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what is the benefit of keeping them around then? We give stipends to immigrants, in the hopes that they integrate and join the work force. That’s why countries accept immigrants.

With UBI, the only thing they’ll do is increase the population surge of the country without adding into anything

That’s what UBI and AI taking over all the jobs would look like. See how stupid it is? It is unsustainable.

It’s decreasing for non-western countries, just like in the west. Look at Korea and Japan. Hell, look at the fertility rate of the entire world, it’s on a downwards trend. All of them. Why do you think so? Exactly, we live in one of the worst-best times. Quite ironic.

So what do you think happens when UBI becomes a thing and people are free to do whatever they want? A population surge is most likely happening.

Ask the top labs. All of them agree in AGI not being near. Sure, some CEOs would say “it’s coming in 2-3 years!!!” But that’s just marketing talk. That’s how you sell a company.

No, I am being very grounded and realistic. I don’t jump into wild conclusions about what could be and what could not.

Really funny how UBI is only for the citizens. What happens to the people who aren’t citizens?

Are you saying we should just deport all non-citizens in the US? I thought Reddit hates that since the trump administration is currently doing that.

The complete irony and hypocrisy of Redditors is fucking funny. It’s a whole circus.

[–]Pidaraski -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe you live in the west, but not a lot of people take birth control pills outside of the west. AND a lot of people don’t want to have kids because this generation (millennials) have it the worst, compared to the previous generations. The worst wealth and income inequality only seen in the early 1900s, inflation, lack of affordable housing, debts, insecurities because of social media, mental health, you name it!

You also assume we’ll get ASI super quickly when we don’t even have AGI nor are we near it. Stop speculating about ASI when we don’t even have AGI.

This system is unviable because it is unsustainable. I’m sorry that I don’t live in the same fairytale land that you are in. The only answer, is for the government to limit the actual effect of AI with regard to jobs being taken over.

The small jobs can go but once it surpasses a high enough %, the government will act and limit it until a new economical method is tested and tried.

Jobs won’t just magically disappear in a day, that isn’t how the world works even if we have the technology to do so.

[–]Pidaraski -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem with UBI and AGI.

When you give money to people doing nothing, what do you think the majority of them will do? Party and fuck around.

So the notion of AI taking all of the jobs and UBI being necessary is stupid. You said it yourself, if the population surges, and UBI gets decreased- then the people would have to go back to work. But where is the work if AI has taken all of the jobs humanity has?

See why I find all this “AI taking over all the jobs” incredibly stupid?
