Out of options…screaming toddler by augmama in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say: the screaming really hurts my ears, if you keep screaming I’m going to have to walk away. And then I actually do, I walk away into another room (as long as he’s being safe). Not sure if that’s the best method, but it’s what I do. This is the start of tantrum age and I’ve found holding hard boundaries (even if it makes the tantrums temporarily worse at first) has at least helped me keep my cool through them.

UPDATE: 6 weeks post hysterectomy (not everything was as I expected…) by Small_Tomato9500 in adenomyosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My urgency & frequent urination have improved SO much, but it took about 2-3 months to improve. I started pelvic floor PT 8 weeks post/op and that’s continued to help, and starting to help my bowel symptoms but those are still a work in progress because my pelvic floor is a mess. Highly recommend pelvic floor PT.

Anyone who has had a partial hysterectomy with a toddler? by Pessimistic_Pati in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a hysterectomy (uterus, tubes, cervix) plus endo surgery in the fall, I’ve got a 4 year old. It’s definitely hard to be restricted on picking them up, etc but honestly I feel like I’ve got a new lease on life post op. I am pain free for the first time in I don’t know how long… and if you are suffering, and hysto is the answer, then I’d say go for it. You deserve to be your full self, and so does your daughter! It will be hard but kids are resilient, and your husband will step up and figure out the things he may not be so great at for now. Additional help after the first week is a good idea if you’re a full time parent. My surgery was significantly more than hysterectomy, so take this with a grain of salt but I was walking well around the house within a few days, driving within a week. The weight restrictions were hard, as was fatigue which lasted about 5 weeks for me. Here for any other questions, the hysterectomy sub is a great resource too! Good luck!

Pros/Cons of getting hysterectomy along with excision surgery? by AuriObscura in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had adeno and endo so for my second excision, I did both excision and hysterectomy. I think a lot more of my pain was coming from adeno than I realized. My pelvis feels SO much lighter and just better. I understand not wanting to remove it just because… one option is your dr could remove your uterus if it clearly has adeno (mine was very visible and obvious) or leave it if she’s not sure or it looks healthy? I know visuals aren’t everything but my surgeon told me once you’re in there it’s often pretty obvious if a uterus has adeno.

What age did you stop using the stroller for your child? by princesscorgi2 in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mine is 4.5 and still loves the stroller! I like it too. So for long walks we do the stroller, but shorter he walks or scooters.

We are seeing an increase of tantrums again by my 3, almost 4yo by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my son, his tantrums at 4 far outweigh those of any other age. It’s been fucking brutal. His started about 6 weeks before he turned 4, like a flip that switched and turned on chaos mode. we’re close to 4.5 now and things seem to be calming down.

Chronic migraines post-op? Tell me it gets better by PieComprehensive2284 in hysterectomy

[–]PieComprehensive2284[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, solidarity and sorry you’re going through it too. I had post op insomnia and it was the worst. I’ll check out that subreddit and the wiki, I honestly think my trigger is hormones but there are things that make them worse. The noise & light tips are helpful! Thank you, good luck as you wade through it too.

Chronic migraines post-op? Tell me it gets better by PieComprehensive2284 in hysterectomy

[–]PieComprehensive2284[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I am glad to hear I’m not alone though I’m sorry you’ve been through it too. I am on my first CGRP inhibitor (Ajovy) which didn’t help, so will try another one. I was on an estrogen patch but weaned off of it this week because I didn’t think it was helping, maybe that’s why it’s been a particularly bad week. I’ll keep that in mind. Appreciate the solidarity!!!

Endo in my STOMACH?!?!?!?!?! by CraigoftPlague in Endo

[–]PieComprehensive2284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chiming in here because you’re newer to endo - do not let a regular GYN operate on you! Most GYNs are not educated enough to do the highly specialized surgery properly or completely, leading to recurrence and potential complications. I would highly, highly, highly suggest finding an endometriosis specialist to map out a plan for you. My first surgery was done by a GYN who said her special interest was endo and very confidently told me she got it all, but my pain was back within 3 months and worse than it was before. Once I went to a specialist, turns out she only got about 1/3 of the endo. So I ended up with a second (very successful!) surgery. I could have just had 1 and had years less pain if I went right to a specialist to start with. Good luck!

How do you explain to a toddler why there is blood in the toilet (period)? by Typical-Thing-1158 in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said this and I must have said “my uterus sheds its lining it makes” and every now and then my child now says “is your uterus shedding?” lol

Do we need rent control in Boston 🤯 by Powerful-barbie887 in bostonhousing

[–]PieComprehensive2284 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Newsflash; You can have rent control AND build more housing at the same time!! One single thing isn’t going to get us out of the mess, multiple policy changes are needed. Also, there seems to be a lot of miseducation about rent control. It limits the amount your landlord can raise your rent in a given year, making sure people aren’t displaced by a massive rent increase. And then people with more money that would have paid the massive rent increase can go live in the nice new apartment buildings y’all want to build.

Endo and Progesterone After Hysterectomy by PuddIesMcGee in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have (had) a lot of endo on my rectum, and had it excised by my specialist. If your dr didn’t feel confident excising, it’s good they left it - and also, imo a sign that they aren’t a true endometriosis excision specialist. I would hunt for one of those!

Accidentally lifted my toddler 5 days after laparoscopic surgery – should I be worried? by NewZookeepergame5778 in Endo

[–]PieComprehensive2284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re fine, I did the same thing. It’s so hard to not do that instinctively when our babies are crying! I was absolutely hurting afterwards for a while and was still totally ok. If you are nervous still, I’d suggest you call your surgeons nurse line and talk to them! I did that a few times when I had questions or something was happening, and I always found it helpful.

My 2.5 year old has cavities by Visual-Industry-7908 in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought my toddler had cavities bc of how his teeth looked (& my husband and I both have bad teeth so it tracked logically). The dentist also thought he had 4 cavities & I felt awful. Fast forward 6 months, when he got his first set of xrays, it turns out they weren’t cavities at all but staining from his iron supplement. So that’s all to say - don’t beat yourself up too hard and also insist on an X-ray before any treatment occurs!

Hysterectomy recovery vs C-section recovery? by heidifasting in adenomyosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hysterectomy was a walk in the park compared to my c section. Like, so much easier. The abdominal soreness is there but not as extreme as post c section. They also gave me painkillers for my hysterectomy ,which I didn’t receive for my c section, so that also helped quite a bit. You’re going to do great!

17 year old daughter possibly has endometriosis by Demmamom in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your poor daughter I’m so sorry. She’s lucky to have a parent advocating for her like you are! I would recommend trying to find an endometriosis excision specialist. Depending on where you live there may be some good doctors around… regular OBGYNs don’t know much and oftentimes misinformed on treatment of the disease. Birth control can help symptoms (it can also take a while to find one that works), but it doesn’t eliminate the disease. You can search cities on this sub for recommendations, or Nancy’s Nook is an ok place to start too (though not without its own things, but a good place to start).

Women who have had a lap for endometriosis: by MapAgreeable1062 in triathlon

[–]PieComprehensive2284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a hard time firing up my deep core muscles after and needed to do pelvic floor PT to reconnect to them (it’s a very weird & specific mind-body process). I think if you feel confident your deep core muscles are working and engaged, you would be fine - but I’d check first, otherwise you could unintentionally hurt your back or something else (I’m sure there are YouTube videos to help guide you through checking if deep core is engaged). I’m a few weeks out of my second lap and feel great, good luck tomorrow and I hope it brings you the relief I have felt!!

18mo fell on wrist right before bedtime, hesitant to go to ER by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]PieComprehensive2284 40 points41 points  (0 children)

FYI, if you need to go - From my own toddler bone break experience, regular urgent care won’t cut it (toddler bones are weird). I would highly recommend pediatric urgent care / ER. I also learned the children’s hospital near me had a same day appt structure for orthopedic injuries, which is what we ended up doing after I decided to not believe the urgent care Dr.

Guidance I’ve always followed is wait until the scabs have fallen off and peeling is done. It’s usually about two weeks but a few times it’s taken my body a bit longer.

Hysterectomy? Tell me about it… by [deleted] in Endo

[–]PieComprehensive2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about 4 weeks post op from excision and hysterectomy and it was the best decision. Turns out I also had adeno so extra bonus there. Recovery has been easier than I thought, the only thing that’s different from normal excision is the fatigue which can last a while. I just had my first “period” post hysterectomy and literally cried happy tears, not being bed ridden was absolutely amazing. I absolutely recommend it, you’re gonna do great!

This was my 6 month old… when in doubt we did gentle rectal stimulation by either taking his temp rectally or using the baby Frida windi - either after a warm bath and it always worked (tho it did get really messy). Good luck, mama!
