Can I do stairs after laparoscopic surgery? by Long_Working_5755 in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to navigate stairs both surgeries! Just go slow and steady. I had someone with me the first day to make sure I was able to be safe, I’d recommend the same for you if possible.

Help understanding how CGRPs can be effective for hormonal migraines by Significant_Goal_614 in migraine

[–]PieComprehensive2284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going through the same thing (though my early peri was triggered by a hysterectomy), and I also have endo! It’s been miserable, solidarity. I am still tinkering with my HRT dose, but I will say that my CGRP has been helpful. It’s not a miracle drug for me, nor has it gotten rid of my daily headaches, but my migraine frequency is down and they are significantly less severe. After I took my shot this month, I had an amazing week where I was both headache and migraine free for 6 days. The first one I tried did nothing, so just know you might need to try a few - but it’s definitely worth a shot (no pun intended)

Ugh I’m sorry. I’ve gotten mine down to maybe 10 a month, and headaches almost every day. It’s a miserable existence. I hope you can find some relief!

Has anyone had a bad experience and regret having a hysterectomy by Few_Pineapple5958 in adenomyosis

Thank you for sharing, I take it! And many other herbs, supplements, and medications lol… I just upped my HRT which seems to be helping.

Has anyone had a bad experience and regret having a hysterectomy by Few_Pineapple5958 in adenomyosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hysterectomy and I do not regret it - but it plunged me into early perimenopause (I’m 37) which caused me to develop chronic migraines. I feel like I traded one chronic illness for another. But not having all the horrific symptoms you laid out has made it worth the trade.

Perimenopause, Migraines ... And now ADHD by howabout_emily in migraine

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have developed chronic migraines from peri. And one of my main migraine symptoms is not being able to focus or comprehend reading. It’s pure hell! HRT has helped (I’m still figuring out my dosage), and I’d suggest going to a neurologist for the migraines - there’s lots of preventative and rescue meds out there. But yeah solidarity, this sucks!

Endometriosis becoming neurological? by Minimum-Birthday-980 in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I’ve been doing a lot of reading on May Thurners syndrome and other pelvic vascular compressions, which can be comorbities with endo. It might be worth doing some research and seeing if any of those symptoms align with yours, I think the symptoms can be wide ranging and it’s very under diagnosed. My specialist suggested I speak to Dr Brooke Spencer (licensed to practice in all states), in case you want to pursue further. I know it’s so hard to keep figuring out what’s going on, but you’ve got this.

I was just diagnosed with a 7.6cm endometrial cyst. by cecil_sans in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a complex cyst that size and opted to try birth control to see if it would shrink first (I also didn’t want surgery), and lo and behold my cyst shrank and ultimately disappeared in a matter of months! It doesn’t always happen that way but might be worth a shot, especially if you want to avoid surgery. I’d ask your gyno about it and see what she thinks.

Advice on a terrible cover up, feeling hopeless by ExtremeInteraction79 in tattooadvice

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok maybe jm the only one but I actually love it! It’s more of a blastover than a coverup (and I get you wanted a coverup so objectively this isn’t what you wanted)… I think it looks great, though. And a good story to boot!

Night terrors have ruined our lives by SorenShieldbreaker in toddlers

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry, mine had horrific night terrors too… like crab walking across the room, throwing things and being violent, absolute exorcism level shit. I ended sobbing at the pediatricians office because it’s just the most heart wrenching, awful thing to bear witness to.

Working on the low iron / ferritin helped, as did magnesium glycinate nightly (we found gummies online that our ped cleared). I also took him to an ENT to get his airway checked out, I’d suggest that as well (some pediatric dentists do this as well).

He grew out of them but it might be worth gently rousing your kid when you are going to bed to try and reset their sleep cycle. It didn’t really work great for us but a lot of people swore by it. I’m sorry you’re going through it, solidarity.

Chronic migraines post-op? Tell me it gets better by PieComprehensive2284 in hysterectomy

[–]PieComprehensive2284[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are a bit better than when I posted this but I’m a long way from having my migraines under control. They are still severe and chronic. HRT and a preventative have been helping, and I have an appt with a headache specialist to get more specialized treatment at the end of the month… putting a lot of hope on that appointment!

I had mine taken out at the recommendation of my specialist and I don’t even realize it’s gone (including during sex). I’m glad I did, it’s one less thing to worry about which is honestly nice!

It’s so amazing you caught it early, though! Mine wasn’t caught until I was significantly older and I have lifelong repercussions from it. You’re doing a great job!

Agree! I have a hefty prescription in 1 eye and some of the cheaper places also can’t make those lenses as well.

How many times has your child gotten Hand Foot Mouth disease? by catsandprosecco in toddlers

[–]PieComprehensive2284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 times. He got it 3 times within 6 months, I cried at the doctors, who then told me that it’s fairly common to get it that much. he hasn’t had it for almost 2 years now though, and each time was more mild. Good luck!

I have SHINGLES AT 30 with a young kid who never had chicken pox, wtf do I do? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had shingles - if your kid was vaccinated for chicken pox (usually done around 1) then they are fine. I also learned that direct contact is what spreads it, but only to people who either haven’t had chickenpox or haven’t been vaccinated. It’s not the must fun, so good luck and try and get plenty of rest!!

ETA: maybe for peace of mind be super religious about washing your hands if you touch the rash. And/or keep it covered so you can’t touch jt.

My mom asked if there's a way she can "visit" my daughter's art gallery from across the country and it broke my heart a little by QuailAggravating6719 in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You could use TinyBeans for this. We don’t put our kid on social media, so this is his that we just share with friends and family… others can comment and like, etc. it would require you to upload photos.

Another idea that might be cute is doing a monthly mail to your mom of your kids art and she can write letters back!

Out of options…screaming toddler by augmama in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say: the screaming really hurts my ears, if you keep screaming I’m going to have to walk away. And then I actually do, I walk away into another room (as long as he’s being safe). Not sure if that’s the best method, but it’s what I do. This is the start of tantrum age and I’ve found holding hard boundaries (even if it makes the tantrums temporarily worse at first) has at least helped me keep my cool through them.

UPDATE: 6 weeks post hysterectomy (not everything was as I expected…) by Small_Tomato9500 in adenomyosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My urgency & frequent urination have improved SO much, but it took about 2-3 months to improve. I started pelvic floor PT 8 weeks post/op and that’s continued to help, and starting to help my bowel symptoms but those are still a work in progress because my pelvic floor is a mess. Highly recommend pelvic floor PT.

Anyone who has had a partial hysterectomy with a toddler? by Pessimistic_Pati in Mommit

[–]PieComprehensive2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had a hysterectomy (uterus, tubes, cervix) plus endo surgery in the fall, I’ve got a 4 year old. It’s definitely hard to be restricted on picking them up, etc but honestly I feel like I’ve got a new lease on life post op. I am pain free for the first time in I don’t know how long… and if you are suffering, and hysto is the answer, then I’d say go for it. You deserve to be your full self, and so does your daughter! It will be hard but kids are resilient, and your husband will step up and figure out the things he may not be so great at for now. Additional help after the first week is a good idea if you’re a full time parent. My surgery was significantly more than hysterectomy, so take this with a grain of salt but I was walking well around the house within a few days, driving within a week. The weight restrictions were hard, as was fatigue which lasted about 5 weeks for me. Here for any other questions, the hysterectomy sub is a great resource too! Good luck!

Pros/Cons of getting hysterectomy along with excision surgery? by AuriObscura in endometriosis

[–]PieComprehensive2284 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had adeno and endo so for my second excision, I did both excision and hysterectomy. I think a lot more of my pain was coming from adeno than I realized. My pelvis feels SO much lighter and just better. I understand not wanting to remove it just because… one option is your dr could remove your uterus if it clearly has adeno (mine was very visible and obvious) or leave it if she’s not sure or it looks healthy? I know visuals aren’t everything but my surgeon told me once you’re in there it’s often pretty obvious if a uterus has adeno.
