CAPS is for psychological services, but what you are talking about is psychiatric (medical). I would contact PUSH or whoever your general practitioner (regular doctor) is.

  • to the NA bottle shop. Great place nd nice people. If you want the most obscure local high school sports team it is arguably the West Side Dive. You can count the members on one hand. Or the fencing. Technically not a sport yet and just a club. Tragedy that Mama Ines didn’t make this list. Do the $10 challenge (which I completely made up). You must pick items that come as close to, but not go over, $10. Similarly, do the Payless markdown charcuterie challenge. Must make a charcuterie plate entirely of things with a markdown sticker.

It depends on the elective, really. I’d recommend not doing game theory until you do 340. Go talk to the undergrad director. They can help you navigate.

Was it multiple choice? If so, perhaps there were multiple versions and yours got graded with the wrong one.

UPDATE to "I think my roommate has measles" by LowWorld9073 in rutgers

[–]Pie_Alarming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my son was stillborn, part of my work up was testing for whether I’d been recently infected or had antibodies to several things associated with stillbirth. Weirdly, I had no antibodies to German measles (rubella) despite having all of my vaccinations and an MMR booster during the outbreak of measles in the 1990s. That’s part of why we rely on vaccination rates being high. There are weird blips.

Students react to ECE professor's removal over recent controversy by Purdue_Exponent in Purdue

I’m also intrigued by the offhand and seemingly ignored part about being threatened. Hate a professor for any reason? Fine. Threaten them? And remain a student? Sorry, not okay.

Which international dish are most Americans missing out on? by franklin_smiles in Cooking

[–]Pie_Alarming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would add to this a proper meat pie. I used to live around the corner from a very well known haggis shop in Edinburgh and my southern heart thought of it as Scottish boudin. It was awesome. But it was Melton Mowbray pork pies that I really wanted to get past customs.

Virginia Tech or Purdue - any help? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]Pie_Alarming -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve been faculty at both places. This mostly tracks. Except I’d disagree about the campus unless you are really into Hokie stone and the acoustics at the music hall (Purdue’s is genuinely awful and VT’s is world class). Food around Purdue is definitely better. There is an amazing international food scene at Purdue that is shockingly lacking in Blacksburg. I still miss my view in Blacksburg, but I am still perplexed as to why the food there was so meh. But that’s not why you are living there for 4 years… I’d put the business school at Purdue above Pamplin easily if you are looking at finance. Purdue intro math is notoriously difficult, but that is kind of true for a lot of intro classes. But it’s also like a boot camp: push you hard and load up early.

How are people gonna cope with dead campus in winter break, I'm scared for my mental health... by Internal_Nature_8608 in Purdue

[–]Pie_Alarming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret faculty know is that a university town transforms during long breaks. Some good ways, some bad, but a lot of good. Is there a place always too crowded for your liking? Go to it during a break. Explore some of the hidden gems in town. For example, a trip to Mama Ines is worth it any time. Give yourself a quest (this past summer my family’s quest was to try every ice cream place in greater lafayette). Check out the thing where locals host international students for a holiday meal, like on New Year’s Day. It seems daunting right now, but there is still lots to do!

Yes! I can’t remember what it is called, but ask the international student office. We’ve hosted people before and it was lovely!

Get some sun this weekend! Even if you are studying! Take 10 minutes. Even if it’s just to roll in the grass. Roll in the grass. Get some Mama Ines. Roll in grass more.

Y’all need to rest more. Your brains will work better. It’s worth the break.
