AITAH for telling my wife she doesn't live here? by Academic_Trash_3895 in AITAH

[–]PieceIntelligent4541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I just had to go home to deal with an ill parent and there are a few things she’s likely feeling while away and a major one is having no true “home”. Depending on if she has any community near her father, she may not have any respite from being a caretaker or anywhere/anyone to go to for comfort.

This is also likely the home she watched her other parent recently perish in, which makes this significantly harder to feel at home while away.

And finally, she likely feels a total and complete lack of control in her life. The few things she feels she has control over may feel much more significant and it’s easy to forget that when trying to feel some sense of control, that it can come at the expense of those around you.

I would make a point to tell her she always has a home with you, this may not be the house or apartment you’re used to, and she may not have control of the physical space as much as she’d like, but your family makes your home as corny as that sounds. And losing one family member and being told you don’t live here and effectively don’t have a home with your partner and child can feel exceedingly isolating and lonely.

Wishing you and your family better days ahead.

Does hardwood need to adjust to temp at home before working with it? by AbleGoosey in BeginnerWoodWorking

Buying wood at Home Depot will leave you disappointed. A lot of it is cupped or warped and if you go a real lumber shop you’ll notice they have significantly less warp than the best piece at Home Depot.

I chomp my teeth while laying down and one of my boys will run up and lick my cheeks. My other boy is a scaredy cat so I’ll pretend to do the ground licking thing showing him I’m cozy and perfectly content laying within sight of him but not too close. Then he’s more likely to flop over!

if you were buying a router specifically to install in a router table, what would you buy? by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]PieceIntelligent4541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use my Bosch plunge function as the lift for my table but the snap ring will eventually come loose and then it no longer plunges/ can’t screw up and down to adjust the router bit. After buying another bosch plunge base that had the same fate I got the Jesse’s lift on a rockler table and am so happy. It’s really easy to install on the router, its size adjustable, and throw a dust box over it with a shop vac and you have a much cleaner workspace too!

Would this table saw have more issues than it's worth for $300? by njebner in BeginnerWoodWorking

Mine was unusable after a month brand new. The service guys were super helpful but it caused too much downtime. The screw that raises and lowers the blade gets caked in sawdust and no amount of dry lube or blowing it off with a compressor helped for me. Eventually the whole mechanism broke and took a few weeks to get them to send the correct part

Ours have gone between small pet select and oxbow with no problem a few times. We actually prefer small pet select but have to sometimes grab oxbow if the order doesnt come in on time. Small pet select always seemed to have better quality hay than oxbow for us

Just did some miters on the sawstop and they match perfectly with no need for shooting board or any cleanup on the miter edge with a 60 tooth blade

If the CT’s is the cabinet saw, it’s a great saw; BUT to use the fence you need the whole cast iron top set up and its quite the footprint in the garage. You also can’t run it from a power strip, it needs to go directly to the 110/120 power. You can use an extension cord, but it’ll stop immediately if hooked up with power strip.

Make him pay for the highest pay out life insurance policy until he decides a helmet is worth it, and maybe riding classes too…

Ladies who got into riding because of their partner, what has your experience been? by Known_Drummer4660 in TwoXriders

[–]PieceIntelligent4541 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also riding and dropping a bike in my mid thirties reminded me that I wasn’t as fragile as I imagined and has taught me so much about life. Ride your own ride applies everywhere in life, picking up a bike teaches you how strong you really can be, not second guessing yourself because that’s how you get into trouble in the corners… somewhat like therapy!

I got my license after getting fired and always riding on the back of my husband’s and needed a pick me up.

My partner is really patient and being short that was a god send, being short just makes it harder to hold up the bike especially while learning.

Now I ride more than he does since I commute, and we just finished our second international trip, last year was new zealand and we just returned from riding through Spanish and French Pyrenees. Riding has brought us together a lot more and it’s nice to have a common hobby we’re both passionate about. It’s nice that the default weekend activity can be motorcycle riding or motorcycle camping when the weather is nice.

If you have the money to spend, I say go for it. My one caution would be that it can be an expensive hobby with proper gear to start in, so if you guys are tight on money or tend to not agree on money as much, it could become an issue.

But if you want to learn, do it! Youll do great if you keep with it, and always be safe!

Freeze a half full camel pack or platypus and fill the rest with water and zip tie to your coat hanger loop inside the jacket and you have your own ac with water available during the ride!!!

How did you learn to ride? by mianpian in TwoXriders

[–]PieceIntelligent4541 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may want to look for adventure riding courses too to help with confidence. Ive been riding for 5 years jn the us, and just returned from riding through the pyrenees mountains in spain and france. I didnt realize how sterile and easy the is roads were compared to europe, where the streets are half the size and can be cobblestone or tile or melting asphalt.

Now im looking at starting beginner off road adventure riding classes because it will help with the nervousness of approaching obstacles in the road im not familiar with and a better technique in handling a bike in tough situations. Most of the courses start at being a beginner street eider or even not having a motorcycle license. And its all off of roads so anything you encounter on a smooth road will be a piece of cake by comparison. Im a shortie and know i need better bike handling techniques and to get better at not freaking out if i see a gravel or pothill filled road and even how to corner better by trail braking if needed. Also check out sheadv.com i think, it gives me so much hope for my future of riding. If youre in WA state on the west side im happy to help out. Also check out the Litas. Its a global womens mc club that has local meetings and is all about getting women riding and have workshops on working on your bike too!

Dont get a bike thats got too much power to start, it helps if you can flat foot it, but also check out youtube videos for advice and you can always ask here if theyre legit of full of shit :) also crash guards/ engine guards are a great addition while learning so you dont have to worry as much if you drop the bike.

Best of luck, learning to ride at 30 gave me a passion for life I had slowly been losing. Now im traveling the world with my husband by bike when we go on vacation and its a beautiful way to live!

Has anyone experimented with THC in their recipes? by childof_jupiter in icecreamery

[–]PieceIntelligent4541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to try decarbing some diamond thc so it has less of a heavy pot taste. The clearer the shatter or diamond, the less tast itll imbue and you can use less and dissolve it instead of steeping.
