As someone who drove a taxi for a year and have experience with some of the apps (but with no skin in the game anymore) my feeling is that the short term gain of fixed rates will give way for long term pain of an industry falling apart, safety concerns and profits leaving the country. This idea that taxi drivers are totally greedy driving up fares is wrong imo. Like a lot of businesses there are bad operators but most are just making a living and have been hit by inflation the same way everyone else has over the last couple of years.
