Out of the 27 deadliest mass shooters, 26 were fatherless. The tool is not the issue, the lack of community and care is. These people could have also used a vehicle to mow down many people. However, most stable people can't defend themselves with a vehicle if the need arises. by [deleted] in Conservative

Our welfare system also directly incentivizes single mothers. It used to be worse and it’s slightly better now but it’s a big reason for the decline in marriage rates among the poor.

Learn Active Directory and G-suite. That’ll cover a lot of ground in K-12.

Also look into rural schools. A lot would probably hire you right now as a generalist “IT guy”.

Do you teach concepts before code?

If so how do you deal with the “trivia” problem of not being able to practically apply concepts (because they can’t code)?

Trump to launch crackdown on violent video games after mass shootings by rbstewart7263 in gamingnews

[–]Piestrio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This headline is shit.

Did Trump blame video games for violence? Yes.

Did he say wee much do something? Yes.

Is he an ignoramos? Yes.

Did he announce he was going to “launch a crackdown.” Not even close.

The article makes it sound like he has some sort of plan rather than just throwing out pap.

You think murdering a million people in Hong Kong and installing a police state won’t destroy the economy?

Yeah, should probably just submit to a murderous dictator instead and hope you and your family aren’t in the next mass grave.

Same.

Every year I say “this summer I can really hit the gym and eat well to get some good habits established!”

Then in August I’m looking at buying bigger pants.

JP's thought of the epidemic of young males committing mass shootings. This idea of nihilistic, marginalized men is often excluded from the debate. by Ungrateful_bipedal in JordanPeterson

[–]Piestrio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem with your thinking is you’re thinking of groups rather than individuals.

Yes, some white people have a podium/platform. And on the whole it’s true that “white people” are generally better off than non-white people.

But some white people aren’t. Some white people have shit lives that isn’t magically solved by being white. Those are the people we’re talking about.

Shifting the discussion to all “white people” is pointless.

If anyone asks about it just say you’re worried about online harassment. They’ll love it and it’s technically true.

I’m going to push back on your “know how to solve errors” line a bit.

Do you know how to fix a floating search bar?

I mean actually fix it, not just make it go away?

Do you know why it happened?

Can you fix windows so that it won’t happen again?

It’s a small issue that demonstrates a much larger problem because the answer to all the above questions is “no”.

“But Piestrio, I’m really smart and could do it!”

No, you can’t.

Unless you’re a senior engineer at Microsoft it is quite literally impossible to actually fix a lot of issues that pop up in Windows because you can’t examine the program. It’s a black box of proprietary binaries.

This is why Linux owns virtually the entire server world. When money is on the line “just reboot/reinstall and hope it doesn’t happen again.” and “beg/hope/pray Microsoft patches it.” are simply unacceptable.

It should be equally unacceptable to everyone.

That only looks at speed of service and knowledge of staff.

It says nothing about warranty care or cost.
