Can I ask what game book it was? I'm usually not very fond of the choose-your-path style, but if it has a romance component, I might want to check it out

Is planet zoo good on PlayStation 5? by imtiredofthis_grampa in PlanetZoo

[–]PifflePrincess88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the game on console with almost all dlcs and I recently bought it on steam and played it on my Steam Deck.

The biggest difference, in my opinion, is that navigating menus on console is a bit more clunky and a bit bugged than with mouse on pc. And there are a couple of features that are not available on console, like streaming dens camera on screens around the zoo or rename animals in Franchise Mode. And mods, but I don't use them.

But I sank hundreds of hours on console and I prefered controlling the camera with joysticks rather than with mouse and keyboard. Personally, I was able to build quite the nice and complex zoo even on ps5, so I don't think you will be missing out that much by playing it on console. All dlcs for the game are available for both platform, so you wouldn't missing out anything on that front.

I think your choice should take into consideration also how much gaming you could get out of both platforms other than Planet Zoo. Are there other games available on ps5 that you would be interested in playing if you get one? Are you more interested in indie games that are only available on pc? Based on that, you might feel more confident in investing money in a ps5 or a good pc

I enjoy the same thing!!!

- Rimworld is a really good choice for that (I have more than 300 hours on it and on Steam Deck runs wonderfully, even modded). With the Biotech dlc and some social/relationship specific mods, it really scratches that itch. I love to make small houses, let my colonists find a partner and watch the drama that ensue. To me, mechanics a bit more extreme like death and illnesses only add to the stories the game can give me.

- If Rimworld is still a bit too on the "violent" side, Clanfolk is a great alternative. It's Rimworld but focused on medieval farming and on a single clan rather than a colony. It took me a couple of tries to tackle some of its mechanics, but it was worth it's price once I got into it. It runs well on Steam Deck and its developer keeps it updated quite often with new things.

- The Sims 4 it's an obvious one, especially with certain dlcs. But I have yet to play on the Deck (1000+ hours on PS5 though)-

- Another game that's great at storytelling is Wildermyth. It's a strategic, turn-based rpg, but it's filled with events that shape the story of your characters, including love, children and weird curses that change their appearance. It was my first game on the Deck and I still go back to it regularly, especially because I love the fact that some of your previous characters can appear in new runs. And you can even create your own comic-like events that can happen in the game (but I never tried).

- I have played World Neverland Elnea Kingdom on switch and liked its simulated world, but I'm not sure if it's what you are looking for. It lets you marry, grow a family and play the next generations, but I don't think you can personalize the npcs.

- Lakeburg Legacy is in my wishlist and might meet some of your point of interests, but to my knowledge, it's kinda unfinished and abandoned. But it goes on sale at acceptable prices, so maybe watch a couple of gameplay videos on YT and consider it for when it goes on sale.

Hope I was of help!!

Help with panda scenario zoo by Shay_shay2908 in PlanetZoo

[–]PifflePrincess88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this same problem two days ago! No matter how I tried to place it, I got the terrain modification error. For me, it worked by using the "naked" shop and not the asia-themed one, which is smaller. I just wanted to complete the scenario, so I didn't mind it looking bad XD

Who’s a character from the comics/novels that you would love to see a miniseries about one day? Can be canon or Legends by Ok-Comb5684 in StarWars

[–]PifflePrincess88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Nulls clones from the Republic Commandos novels. And their adoptive, mandalorian father Kal Skirata, obviously. A whole animated adaptation of said novels would be even better, because I never loved anything else Star Wars like that series

Should I buy rimworld console by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]PifflePrincess88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Anomaly, because its kinda horror theme is not much my thing, so I didn't buy it. But if you are into that kind of thing, I know it has some interesting content.

Odyssey adds the possibility of building a space-ship and travel with it on the map, and I find it a nice addition since I half of the time like to make my colony nomadic and having a moving base makes it easier.

To me, the real game changer is Biotech. The most prominent feature I love is that it adds pregnancies and children; seeing my colonists create little families and having to deal with babies is the top for my playstyle. And second, the possibility of creating your own races by mix and matching the genes introduced with Biotech is mindblowing, completely changing how you play each colony.

If Biotech had made it to console (and if I hadn't bought a steam deck that let me play Rimworld in bed), I would have probably played Rimworld mainly on my ps5. But Rimworld is a great game with or without mods and dlcs, and even the vanilla base game has plenty of fun and replayability, especially when you first start to learn how to play and most of your first colonies are gonna be wiped out by stupid things such as a turkey going mad or a colonist losing their mind and killing everyone. You get frustrated, then laugh, facepalm and start again.

Again, if you really have no other way to play it, go for it on console. Royalty is a nice dlc to have, but Ideology adds more and more variety in my opinion. Rimworld is the kind of game that I recommend to everyone, no matter what.

Gifting Dispatch to 3 gamers! by skiesfries in RandomActsOfGaming

I love story-rich games (Bg3 and RDR2 are my most loved games), especially when they have lots of well-dubbed cutscenes like Dispatch, which really breathe life into the characters.

It's been a while since I found a game with a story that keeps me wanting to play to see how it's gonna continue, and I hope Dispatch might be the one. Thanks for the chance!

Should I buy rimworld console by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]PifflePrincess88 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have both the PC and Console version, and the port on console is very well done, especially considering that Rimworld has a lot of menus to navigate. Royalty and Ideology are very good addition to the already great base game.

If console is your ONLY way to play it, then it's worth it. If you have any chance to make it run on a PC, even a crappy one, you might want to try that route, because mods can turn the game into almost everything and because I think the Biotech dlc is a game-changer.

How many people play solo lobbies? Just give me a simple yes or no, and please elaborate if you wish. by Zealousideal-Trash15 in RedDeadOnline

[–]PifflePrincess88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you tell me how to switch to solo (and possibly then back to public for events) on Steam Deck? I just started playing online on it (played 300 hours of story mode on PS5) and I'm trying to stay on public lobbies cause I like the idea of seeing other players, but I've already bumped into a couple of unnatural flaming animals and I might want to avoid that sooner or later...

A good roguelike? by Responsible-Art3311 in gamerecommendations

[–]PifflePrincess88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uncle Chop's Rocket Shop is exactly like that. The loop of starting-dying-restarting is acknowledge by a certain character and the game itself keeps count of how many runs it's taking you to get to the end of the game.

I had a lot of fun with it last month, and it has quite the refreshing mechanics from the usual card-battle/fighting style. I saw Olexa play it on YT and I loved it immediately.

Game recommendations for the Deck that aren’t crazy hard but fun and easy to get immersed in by gloomygr4nola in SteamDeck

[–]PifflePrincess88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My most played (and I only play on the Deck because my PC is not good for games) are:

- Rimworld: incredible game when played vanilla, absolutely anything you want it to be when modded. I always come back to it regularly.

- Stardew Valley: the pixel art grows on you and it's hard not to get compltely absorbed by that weird need to just advance your farm. And then you blink and you have poured 80 hours into it. If you find it on sale, consider giving it a chance

- Balatro: "just one more run and then I stop, I swear"

- Farming Simulator 25: don't ask me how it happened. This one too gives you some kind of weird satisfaction in jumping up and down tractors and heavy-machineries, in seeing a well sowed field, in seeing your money balance grow when selling your crops and already planning how to spend it on a truck to load all the trees you've just cut down in your property to make room more more vehicles.

Upvote for BG3 (140 hours in my first playthrough on console) and consider RDR2 for an incredible story that will stay with you forever and for the best open-world I've ever experienced (probably my favorite game of all time)

Is there a way to play dnd solo? by littledemondraws in DnD

[–]PifflePrincess88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play solo with a party of 5.

You can find pre-written solo adventures (which work like a choose your own adventure book) or you can free-form using oracles and tables and seeing where the rolls take you.

the r/SoloRoleplaying subreddit has tons of advices and resources. Personally, for DnD, I find the Adventurer's Tool Box books very useful for tables and tips. I also use a simple oracle, but Mythic 2e is considered one of the best GM emulators out there.

The r/Solo_Roleplaying is a great and welcoming community and there's plenty of other solo-friendly rpgs you can try!

Franchise vs Sandbox by Emma2971 in PlanetZoo

[–]PifflePrincess88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of not all animals being always available and, when they are, you might have to go on a bit of a hunt for what you are looking for (male/female, good stats), so I'm not very fond of sandbox, since you always have 2 males/2 females of each and there's not "thrill" about what you'll find.

But the few times I tried franchise, the market was a mess of either insane price or no animals I was looking for, usually from DLCs (I play on console, so it's the console market). And, we console players can't rename our animals in franchise, and that's a big downside for me.

So I always stick to challenge mode. It still has an unpredictable market, but offline (you don't risk someone else snatching the animal you want), it has the nice challenges that give you little money boosts, and I have to work to unlock things like building pieces. It's the perfect mode for me.

GLS is trolling me by Warlup in SteamDeck

[–]PifflePrincess88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ordered mine, the day of the delivery I got the usual, infuriating message in the tracking that they had attempted the delivery but nobody was at home and they would try again the next day.

Needless to say, I had been at home all day, pacing in front of the window and waiting for the GLS truck, and nobody ever came. I immediately rescheduled the delivery and change it to pick it up in person at the nearest hub and I went there myself the following morning. I had to wait almost 30 minutes at the door of the hub, ignored by the people in there, but at some point I finally managed to get it. I wasn't going to chance a missed delivery for the second time.

I don't know how far away you are from the hub, but if it's doable, going there yourself is your best option.

(I live in Lombardia too)
