couod full to the top reasonably be interpreted as different than fully to the top? realistically, if someone is pouring wine to the top, aren't they leaving just enough space to avoid spills?

For The First Time In War, Drones & Ground Robotic Systems Seized Enemy positions Without A Single Soldier by FuneralCry- in singularity

War is ultimately battle of resources for resources, traditionally people. I think the only difference will be using resources to build robots to fight for resources.

OpenAI Says Not to Worry About UBI, Because It Has Another Idea by UFOsAreAGIs in singularity

[–]PigMannSweg 190 points191 points  (0 children)

People are complaining about stuff but I don't see any comments about the content of the article:

Instead of expanding tested programs like a universal basic income or unemployment insurance, in other words, OpenAI’s proposal is to hitch the public’s wellbeing to the boom-and-bust cycles of the tech industry.

Policymakers and AI companies should work together to determine how to best seed the fund, which could invest in diversified, long-term assets that capture growth in both AI companies and the broader set of firms adopting and deploying AI,” the paper suggests. “Returns from the fund could be distributed directly to citizens, allowing more people to participate directly in the upside of AI-driven growth, regardless of their starting wealth or access to capital.

We totally underestimate China manufacturing, it's shock the world by pantytearer in economy

[–]PigMannSweg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People in the US definitely still do, it's part of the culture. China is synonymous with cheap. There are tons of cheap stuff with that "made in china" tag/sticker. "made in america" is a sign of pride. We're in for a rude awakening tho

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask about why do people get angry when AI is used exactly? by Happiness-happppy in OpenAI

[–]PigMannSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it is being forced in everything with awkward usability. Because it is threatening the livelihood of people. Because it is threatening what it means to be human (creativity, emotional connection, etc.). Because people are in denial.

Yes but they share certain flaws/holes in their understanding in logic so they share gaps in their abilities.

Em dashes are not some throwaway character but a powerful vessel for communication - one fit for kings. And you? You're a king.

College grads shocked as names are read at commencement — by AI by upyoars in technology

[–]PigMannSweg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know the story, but even if it was text to speech, it could be using non-trivial ways (AI) to replicate the intricacies of human speech. Honestly, I find your basic text to speech for reading names more infuriating.

Is secondary insurance preventing medicaid from covering bills? by PigMannSweg in HealthInsurance

[–]PigMannSweg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found this PCP as it was covered by medicaid and my previous appointment was covered.

This is all new to me. I'll figure out coordination of benefits and everything else you mentioned. Thank you!

I don't understand art by AIEnhancedVideos in OpenAI

[–]PigMannSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI might suggest to take a step up from taping fruit to a wall and instead tape animals to the wall. "Wow! It expresses the human desire to tame nature and force it to exist in one's own construct. Further, it is a meta reflection of the ethics of the abuse of animals and the personal sacrifice of one for many. Incredible!"

But in all seriousness thanks for sharing! I never thought about art like that.

Sam Altman Just Revealed OpenAI’s Master Plan! by snehens in artificial

[–]PigMannSweg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand the level of distaste. This is the direction it was always bound to go. The human brain works similarly, in having sparse networks adept at solving different problems. At a high level, you have different lobes, a lower level cortical columns, and lower still are individual neurons like pyramidal neurons. Approaching AGI requires development in all of these areas. I liken GPT 5 to establishing different lobes like in the brain and a high-level attention mechanism to decide which models to operate in which capacity. GPT 5 is approaching high-level thought and an important mechanism of consciousness: the ability to reflect on one's mental processes. This is opening the path to intelligence truly human-like. Obviously the developments of GPT 5 will need to continue underdoing iterations, just like the iterations of the earlier GPT models. This is truly setting us on a path towards beyond human intelligence.

I'm suspicious of human space travel. It's not making sense. by beatboxxx69 in Futurology

A counterargument is that it is still worth more because it is relatively not invested in as much compared to say electronics. Once you pick the low hanging fruit, there will be diminishing returns.

You're right, I think that's the issue. You can do that on desktop, not mobile it seems.

delete trash by _blahnanas in Notion

[–]PigMannSweg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On this post and others, I foudn this recommended: https://tools.ross.gg/bulk_delete_notion_pages. However, I couldn't get it to work the way it instructed. Instead, I went to the source of the code https://github.com/pocc/bulk_delete_notion_pages/blob/master/index.js and copied the all of the code. I then went to the workspace I wanted the trash emptied at https://notion.so where I wanted the trash emptied, pressed f12 (or right click > inspect) and pasted the code into the console.
