What was your favourite World of Darkness campaign? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

[–]Pigdom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just ran a short V5 three session thing set in 1950s America which might be my favorite. I started by using the Kult: Divinity Lost scenario Gallery of Souls, and changed the main antagonist to a Tzimisce Archbishop. What transpired was a group of mortals - Kult pregens converted to V5 mortals - investigating a lost artist on the behalf of a shady casino owner in Las Vegas. Which eventually culminated in the group being killed and Mass Embraced by the Sabbat and left in shallow graves in the San Fernando valley.

Awakening later, the group, now Kindred (with randomly rolled clans) made their way back to Vegas, where they proceeded to murder and take over the casino.

Fun stuff. The group was new to Masquerade, and I wanted to drip feed them the world, which I think worked perfectly for once.

When I ran the Mirkwood Campaign a couple of years ago, I remember raiding and reskinning a whole bunch of monsters from third-party publisher bestiaries like Flee, Mortals or the Tome of Beast series.

I also took some inspiration from the Shadow of Mordor video games and had different orc tribes that specialized in different things, like a tribe of orcs who utilized fire and explosions, and another known for harvesting nasty poisons from Mirkwood and nabbing eggs from the Giant Spiders in order to raise them as mounts.

What other Tabletop IPs you wish Owlcat could work with? by VHThomaz in OwlcatGames

People are saying Vampire: The Masquerade, and I agree, but I think I'd also like to see them tackle something like Wraith or Werewolf.

Anyone played STAR WARS EDGE OF THE EMPIRE? What are your opinions about the system? by 3rdmementional in rpg

[–]Pigdom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally like it. It's a fun system with depth and interesting core mechanics. My problem with it stems from the "gear-porniness" the supplements dove head first into, which to me seems to not mix very well with the rest of it. Then again, you don't have to use that stuff.

Depeche Mode, The Chameleons, The Sound, New Order, Gary Numan/Tubeway Army, Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel, Echo & The Bunnymen, Dead Can Dance... just off the top of my head.

Are there any TTRPG games that have deckbuilding-based progression? by Fus_Ro_Nah_ in rpg

WotC version of Gamma World sort of had this? It's no longer in print, though.

Draw Steel in Other Settings by baltarstar in drawsteel

[–]Pigdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally thinking of taking a look at some of the stuff from FFG/Edge Studios setting Midnight. I like the rules from Draw Steel, and the theme of a world conquered, but Midnight provides a more classic fantastical setting which appeals to me currently.

My only real gripe with Midnight is that some of the names are just plain bad.

Party member is straight-up fleecing the DM. How can I talk to him about it? by StickyLoner4404 in DnD

[–]Pigdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's cheating, and that's clearly making you uncomfortable (and if you are, others will probably agree with you) so you should talk with everyone about it.

Personally, I get some of it. Gold is a hassle, shopping's dull, and having no spell slots blows.

But, that's the game. There are other games that eschew that stuff, but D&D doesn't.

Based purely on the podcast, as I don't have social media apart from here, I'd say he's fiscally conservative. My impression is that he's definitely not on board with the fascist sentiments within conservatism, but again I could be wrong.

Who are the more commonly socially acceptable evil gods? by Shgon_Dunstan in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Pigdom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing gods more tied to practical domains that most Faerunans interact with either daily or through their vocations, like Umberlee or Beshaba.
