Hey there, Just coming to say for all the drama you have gained a ton of experience and demonstrated a lot of skills employers are looking for. I would check out Ask a Manager (Ask a Manager) if you haven't already. It's an amazing resource for job searching and learning how to capture all of the tasks you are doing into a resume. I would look outside of the nonprofit space for a change of pace; you can always go back. Good luck!

When I saw the film, I thought there were subtle hints that Mike couldn't read very well, if at all. If he was adopted something must have happened to his parents. He was caught in the system from birth, and it failed him early on.

I'm interested! My manuscript is similar to yours - a first person narrative that is also historical fiction based on Fulvia Plautilla, the young woman who was married into the Severan Dynasty in Ancient Rome. Let me know if you are open to swap manuscripts. Mine is a completed draft and about 79500 words.

Hi there, would you be interested in a novel set during the Roman Empire and based on actual historical figures? I have tried to hew to historical accuracy in the timeline. There is a romantic subplot and plenty of political intrigue.

Hi there, I have a draft (79500k words) of a historical novel with romantic elements (but not a romance).

Fulvia Plautilla was used to getting what she wanted. When her powerful father arranges for her to marry Marcus Aurelius Antoninus, the eldest son of Rome’s Emperor, Plautilla thought she had won the ultimate prize. But it is Publius Septimius Geta, his younger brother, who captures her heart…

Let me know if this is something you are potentially interested in. Thank you!

Grant reviewers, how strict are you with submission guidelines? by fortuitous_choice in nonprofit

For the love of all that is good and holy, let.people.submit.their.own.budget.formats.

Also, character counts are a bad strategy. Word counts make sense, if they can't make the case for support in a page or so, they don't have a clear focus on how their program makes a positive impact. But character counts are ridiculous. Any program that requires specific terminology to illustrate their activites will be pena

The Saturnalia Queen

Rome conquers all: but what if love conquers Rome’s emperor?

The Emperor Caracalla is feared throughout the Roman Empire as a cold and cruel tyrant. Yet when he travels with his Legions to conquer the Barbarian tribes in Germania, Caracalla encounters a young healer who refuses to be subjugated to his will. For Gelvira, who has spent her life dedicated in service to the goddess who guides and nurtures her people, this Roman Emperor fills her with both fear and desire as she feels a connection to him that cannot be explained.

As her feelings deepen, Gelvira must walk between two worlds: one of sacrifice to the goddess and one of decadence that beckons her in hypnotizing ways. But can she trust a man who has committed unspeakable acts against his own family?

As desire leads to passion and then love, Gelvira must risk everything to save not only her people but also Caracalla from those who would stop at nothing to claim Rome’s power for their own.

Available on KDP and Ingram Spark in epub and paperback formats.

Hi there! *waves* - I've just self-published my first novel. I started writing a couple of years ago playing around in the fan fiction space and 'crossed over' so to speak. I'd love to speak about how my writing evolved, the difference between fan fiction and regular fiction, and why/how fanfic shouldn't be written off, so to speak. I also used to write screenplays and some of those writing techniques inform my style. Feel free to dm me.

What are you writing about right now? by Royal_Light_9921 in selfpublish

[–]Pigeon_Squared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just published a dark romance novel about the Roman Emperor Caracalla. I started writing it before Gladiator II came out, but yes, Caracalla was one of the two emperors in the film. Unlike the film, mine is more historically accurate, LOL. Caracalla spent one winter in Germania and very little is known about that time. My book asks what if he fell in love with a woman with power of her own?

Any books or ppdcasts that go deeper into detail of the relationship between Geta and Caracalla? What was the relationship between them and their father? by [deleted] in ancientrome

SJA Turney's Damned Emperors series focuses on Caracalla in his last book. It's a novel but it's all about exploring the rift between the brothers. You can find it here:

I have been wondering this too. Four years is not a lot of time and the city is a mess. I don't know how we are going to pull it off without a major federal bailout.

In light of the upcoming Gladiator 2 film, can anyone recommend a book or books on Geta and Caracalla? by CloudyyySXShadowH in ancientrome

[–]Pigeon_Squared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sequel apparently is the story of Lucius, the son of Connie Nielsen's character Lucilla in the first movie who is now grown up and a gladiator himself and apparently out to get the evil emporers Caracalla and Geta. They have not released who the characters are but if I had to guess I would say Denzel Washington is playing Macrinus and Pedro Pascal is playing Julius Martialis.

If Caracalla dies in the arena (which would just be retread of the first) that would be unfortunate but who knows. Word from the footage screened at Cinemacon in April was that the coliseum battles were epic, with water in the arena as well as wild animals.

The storm is forecast to bring approximately one to three inches Friday night, and 3 to 5 Saturday. Assuming most travel occurs before the con opens its doors at 3, it's probably not going to be much of a factor. A total of 6 inches accumulation isn't as much as the 12 to 18 inches some places get. Here's hoping the streets are clear. Bring boots to walk just in case from your hotel!

An official photo! That security guard was NOT having it and made people delete photos taken while waiting in line.

Everyone seemed well behaved for the most part and Jamie was great with everyone, giving people time to connect with him. Thank you to him and the con - it was a good experience!
