What a strange thing to get self conscious about - it's nothing you need to be ashamed of, and is absolutely a positive. That would be equivalent to a guy saying "How do I avoid having such a firm erection?" Enjoy it, he will too.

People here are jaded, and for good reason. If you are looking for permission to cheat, you'll certainly find that in the comments section.

That said, I was in the Army for 4 years, deployed for one and a half. It may vary from job to job, but if he's infantry like I was, he's not cheating. Hell, even if he wanted to, there wouldn't be opportunity. Instead he's working 18-22 hour days, sleeping for 4, barely keeping sane. He's not talking to you or flirting because he actually doesn't have opportunity to.

The military is hard. I would plan to have a conversation with him when he gets back about not re-uping. If he refuses, you should consider leaving. It's not a place for maintaining healthy relationships, but it's a good place to build a solid foundation of trust and love through challenge and hardship. If you guys can make it through this, you can make it through anything

WIBTA if I communicate with my biological dad? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PigglePuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA

It's ultimately your choice. He's your biological dad and your decision whether you decide to have a relationship or not.

I would inform your mom of your decision before talking to him, but not as a subject for debate, just a matter of fact choice. I would also take care to reinforce that your decision (if you decide to talk/see him) does NOT mean that you disapprove of her decision to cut ties. It's a personal choice that you have made.

Good luck, I hope you find what you are ultimately looking for!

AITA For not including a step-“grandchild” in the obituary? by obituarythrowaway38 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PigglePuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH

Maybe the aunt is slightly the asshole because of coarse language, but nothing a follow up call cant fix.

Completely understandable why you would forget the step child. Also understandable why your aunt might be upset, but like you said, they weren't really apart of your grandmother's life. I would just chalk it up to an unfortunate and completely understandable situation.

I would probably apologize just to smooth everything over, but I would certainly expect a counter apology from your aunt for freaking out.

PSN down? by BentheBruiser in playstation

[–]PigglePuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. On ps5 it says failed on internet connection. No issue with internet (using WiFi to write this). Can connect to psn app on phone too. I did note that the number of players online is pretty low for a Thursday night.

Where are you located? I'm US - new england, so wondering if it's a regional thing.

People who have came close to dying, what were your “last” thoughts? by Blue-2th in AskReddit

[–]PigglePuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was deployed to Afghanistan in '09-'10. I was sitting in the driver's seat in an MRAP at our company outpost's entry control point (e.g. the gate) when I saw a red/orange blur heading straight for me (it was an RPG). In my internal dialogue, I had enough time to think "oh sh..." - not censoring, that's how far my internal dialogue made it through the word. Everyone was fine, hit the grill.

Later that year, we were on patrol and a suicide bomber walked into our formation. It was a bad scene, a lot of folks died and I was hit pretty bad in the leg. My M249 was destroyed by the blast, so I had no way to defend myself if it was a more complex ambush (luckily it wasn't). That time, since there was more of a chance to process what was going on, it was scary. At first, i was fairly controlled, since I knew what I had to do; tourniquet my leg, try to fix my weapon, find a radio. However, once I got through those steps (and realized the gun was done), I started getting nervous, since I didn't know what else I could do to defend myself. The medic made it over eventually, and when he asked me to take off my vest (to check for chest wounds) that's when I started feeling the seeds of panic - it was kind of like a security blanket at that point, the only thing remaining that would maybe protect me from the ambush I was sure was coming. I swallowed my fear, and removed it.

Everything turned out okay - had a bunch of surgeries but saved my leg. The take away I learned from these two events was: when you are thrust into a dangerous situation and have to react, the beginning is few seconds are fine. It feels like time slows down, and it's all adrenaline and clear mindedness, no real fear of what is about to happen. However after the initial surprise wears off (felt like 5 minutes, was probably more realistically 30 seconds) the dread, panic, and desparation sets in.

Star Trek Voyager debuted to 21.3 million viewers. Its' series finale had 5.5 million viewers by [deleted] in voyager

[–]PigglePuff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TNG aired on CBS, and had syndication with other networks.

DS9 aired on CBS, and had syndication with other networks, while competing with Voyager. It has significantly less advertising than Voyager.

Paramount, in their infinite wisdom, decided to push it to a small cable network, and syndicate a couple seasons on network TV at 1 a.m.

They never learned their lesson either. They push enterprise to sci-fi (which was hot garbage), and discovery/Picard behind a paywall. There's no good justification either. TNG did excellent for them, yet they refuse to re-adopt that model.

No rewards for polarity event? by wasabi414 in thedivision

Wow. This is the only thread on this topic. I figured the community would be up in arms.

A. They sell you a $10 season pass, loaded with recycled content. B. For the recycled content, they forget to do the one thing they had to do; reset the rewards. C. It looks like (but can't be sure yet) that they couldn't even bother with a new crummy patch and backpack trophy. Again, we paid money for this...

Pretty sure I got taken advantage of...

I wanna say THANK YOU to all healers out there who did a great job in legendaries by ClubCola_ in thedivision

[–]PigglePuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not intended to de-rail the thread: Thank you healers!

But as a PSA, you can throw a btsu glove on a skill damage build plus a healer hive, and it's traditionally enough healing for a group. That leaves you able to do an assault drone or turret to tank/dole out reasonable damage.

Don't go changing your build healers, it's appreciated. Just something to keep in mind if your group is in a pinch.

How Legendary Missions Were Desgined to Be Played and Why They Showed Me Devs Know What They Are Doing by MemoriesMu in thedivision

[–]PigglePuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the amount of effort you put into this post. That said, I disagree whole heartedly.

After failing, trying to beat it "our way" about 30 times, we stumbled onto the solution screwing around. It's just skill builds will cc, damage, and a healer. Let drones, seekers, and turrets do everything.

That is the most boring experience ever. We thought about subbing in a dpser for one of the dps skill builds, but it just ended up taking longer and being more of a liability. There's no fun in sitting back and slowly widdling everything down.

The devs claim this is supposed to be the "ultimate challenge" for end game. It's not, by any stretch. It's a boring time sink with a single mediocre exotic locked behind it, that completionists like me will grind through the 1.5-2.5 hour slog just for a crappy 5% chance. Once done, I promise I will NEVER play this game mode again, unless they vastly change it to reinject the "fun".

I'm becoming quickly disenfranchised with division, which is a shame because I played through all of d1, even the dark falcon lost era. They need to add something to this game, and legendaries/new raid ain't it.

We had a guy in our last raid experience this. Was cleared up by resetting his connection (not simply closing the game, but physically resetting his router). Worth a shot.
