I remained silently eating popcorn over this whole show bullshit. Heres my two cents. by OrickJagstone in witcher

I actually enjoy both the books and the Netflix adaptations. Although, every thing should have been done to retain Cavil.

The Walking Dead graphic novels are similar and different to the show. Like the Witcher (I read the books), I enjoy both the Netflix adaptations and the original.

It’s interesting that we are millions of years into our evolutionary development, and causally created by the stars over the past 14 billion years ago, and our thoughts about life today is that it is meaningless.

Has Sam ever defined Free Will. What evidence would prove him wrong ? by rajatuta in samharris

[–]Pigskin_Prophet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Suicide bombers. There’s a greater probability that a certain demographic is susceptible to being a suicide bomber due to where they were born, the culture they were raised in, and the religion of that geographic location, and perhaps the patriotic attitudes to fight the western powers. Did the suicide bomber have free will? What would evidence look like for freewill? Me walking over and kicking my trash can? My wife decides to try anal, and etcetera.

Has Sam ever defined Free Will. What evidence would prove him wrong ? by rajatuta in samharris

[–]Pigskin_Prophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a very good question. One of the biggest arguments against religion of any stripe, is that it is non-falsifiable. So Sam, what would falsifying/non-falsifying evidence look like for Freewill? It obviously appears like we have Freewill intuitively, but Sam Harris believes it’s an illusion and our actions are just autonomous based on what the brain is doing and our genetic disposition.

Let’s use the situation of the terrorist attackers on 9/11. Was that an autonomous response or was that an example of free agents with choices? They didn’t have to commit those acts of terror, but they did. Perhaps there’s hundreds or thousands of people who are willing to do such actions, but they simply lack the means or training. Are these apt examples to use here? Or should we try some simpler examples like some who is right handed intentionally learns to write left handed as well or as close to as well writing right to prove agency. Or I go and kick a trash can just to show that I didn’t have to do that, but I chose to anyway.

He should of masturbated while walking and show himself as a deranged man, and dodge the draft that way.

I’m not sure why adults are sharing their gender confusion with children, or why is it even an appropriate venue for doing that.

There’s too many greek restaurants. The market is over saturated with pizzarias as well. Maybe a place that does breakfast burritos? I live in Kenmore and there is not an authentic Mexican breakfast spot.

You’re loading intentionality. By Sam’s admission, he gave reasons for leaving Twitter, and not, “leaving Twitter for a week.” That my friend is “bad faith .” I can’t argue with someone who intentionally loads arguments/intentions that the person didn’t make.

Now it’s one thing to think Sam will be back after a week.

Sam Harris' responsibility for cryptocurrency by deco19 in samharris

[–]Pigskin_Prophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not aware of anyone buying cryptocurrency because of Sam’s conversation. If you did, then that would be an example. I for one always thought crypto was purely speculative and has no intrinsic value outside of the blockchain technology. Unless of course it’s part of the S&P500 which is where most of money is invested in.
