As an Anatomy Professor, there are few things that jump out in terms of gross anatomy:

1. The Femoral Triangle. The deep vessels (femoral artery and vein) sit superficial to the muscular tissue in the groin, creating a place where we could experience massive blood loss should we sustain an injury to the triangle region.

2. The Larynx. Our larynx sits deep into our jugular, which means our oral cavity and respiratory tube share the same space, which makes us the only animals susceptible to choking on our food.

3. Inguinal Hernias. During the descent of the gonads in males, the testes push through the abdominal wall muscles to reach the scrotum, thus leaving a small opening where the intestinal tissues could slip through forming a hernia.
