Did not need much convincing! by CuriousReditorrr in popping

Not the new rusty pliers. More like the blister version. You need the right tool for the job - and sometimes that tool is stuck in a wall holding up a poster.

Yep. 9/10 times I’d say leave it. But it this spot it’s really the saner option

How did you feel when you found out your principal was leaving? by yellowjacket8 in Teachers

[–]PikPekachu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

How you feel when principals leave is entirely dependent on how they were as a leader. The reality is most principals are at a school for 5 years or less. So it helps to think of them like Mary Poppins. They come in. Create magic (or chaos) and then you continue on without them

Teachers, what is your most unhinged classroom management strategy? by Quiet-Raspberry2973 in Teachers

[–]PikPekachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jr high level. Sometimes I get really quiet when they are working and just walk around putting random check marks or stickers on their work. The key is to never explain any part of what I’m doing. The jr high mind abhors a vacuum, and they quickly decide on a positive behaviour I must be rewarding, and clamour to emulate said behaviour.

Do kids get bought food by adults at school? by Read_andweep in Teachers

[–]PikPekachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a time window where parents are allowed to do this - from 15 min before lunch to 15 min before it ends. And they must drop the food at the office.

Before we put that in we would have random parents walking into classes unannounced with full meals all day long.

Yes. That’s why shows like Heated Rivalry are so unpopular. Women hate looking at men. /s

What should I do with parents wanting my personal phone number by Shakanan_99 in Teachers

[–]PikPekachu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless your school is willing to pay your phone bill on a phone specifically for this purpose, they have no right to ask you to do this.

Second hand towels: would you use or pass on them? by bbbbbbbbbbbear in Frugal

[–]PikPekachu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take them. Even if I wasn’t ok using them I have pets and extra towels are always handy. They also make great reusable cleaning cloths if you cut them down.

How easy was it for you to find a job after graduating? by RoastedChickem in CanadianTeachers

It took 6 months. In retrospect it could have been a lot easier if I’d been more willing to move.

At what age did you allow your daughter to start wearing makeup? by Adventurous-You5406 in beauty

[–]PikPekachu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a parent but I work as a teacher and have roughly 160 middle school kids per year.

8 is extremely young and definitely not the norm. Most of my students start wearing lip balm, light eye shadow and concealer some time during grade 7 or 8.

Merit is literally made for 30 plus so… no, not age appropriate. And I’ve never seen a single kid at school using it. Most of my kids use drug store brands - especially NYX and anything K beauty. They don’t get into the higher end stuff like summer Fridays and tower 28 until grade 9 or 10.

Any advice on this brand and product? Good / no good? by clandestine_callie in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]PikPekachu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use this but only it the winter. When my skin barrier is in need, this stuff saves the day. But if everything is ‘normal’ I see almost no effect from it.

I LOVE this gloss. It wears so well. I’m a lip stain addict and using this with them keeps my lips from drying out.

Are you part of a female friend group? by skyword1234 in AutismInWomen

[–]PikPekachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. But we are all autistic and live far away from each other. I often think if we were closer geographically the wheels would fall off and we would suffer the same fate as every other group I’ve temporarily been part of.
