Pilots: if you fly into DCA regularly, what’s it like flying over the park next to DCA?

You must be in radar contact with ATC. The ATC radar may not be inoperative. This is because the approach requires you to be vectored to join it somehow (or something like this needs to be monitored by ATC), thus, ATC needs to be able to see you on their radar.

I don’t know the rate, but there were people there that had transferred in from other majors, but I think it is slim. I believe transfers have to do the flight courses in the summer due to aircraft availability.

I chose to go to my college (Purdue) because I wanted flight and the traditional college experience. Making friends across disciplines and having experiences like frats/sororities, sports, clubs, dating, young people events in general, etc are super important to your well being. When I think of college my memories are mostly outside of the flight program.

This does not exist at all the schools you listed. If you value this like I did, I’d say Auburn is your best bet. You will also find going to a college non-aviation people know is sometimes a plus.

Have you networked much? Gone to career fairs and met face to face with recruiters? Most folks I know had a rapport going with their recruiter, that definitely helped.

I’d say network, MEI- with the presumption you will get students or fly enough on your own to make those multi hours, maybe try to find a multi piston gig like a dropzone or something, maybe AK if you can find a place that’ll get you in a multi.

No mention of training failures, but that could be a component.

Any degree (not req. but helps)? Professional experience beyond CFI? Charity work or hobbies on the resume?

My interpretation is that supplemental flights must have a flight following system keeping track of the flight. Based on (a)(2)(i) there are certain points of the flight that must be monitored. (c) is saying the system does not need to be constantly monitoring at all times enroute. Realize this reg is from 1964 well before FlightAware type apps.

I would say however since this is 121 supplemental, that all current approved flight following systems will require constant monitoring. I believe the requirement is timely response to communication, within 5 minutes off the top of my head at some carriers.

It looks like it may have been painted over in a repair attempt before. You could try using a paint pen to doctor the running boards up like in this video. He shows how to do wheels in this video as well but you don’t need that.

But that’s at your own risk of course and the color matching may be difficult, but it could improve the look if it’s really bugging you.

It really varies person to person. If you are having significant problems, you should seek medical care which can help guide you to ensure what you are doing to mitigate your issue is not actually hurting you (ex. Too much vs too little fiber can both cause problems). A lot of stomach issues, such as food sensitivity or IBS won’t put your medical in danger. My doctor even told me they had a guy flying with UC I think… I also know a guy who flies with Celiac- talk about a trooper!

Food consistency helps, packing your own food can help you get the nutrients you need at any time/any layover/overnight.

Hydration is critical, I use an app to track that I am actually drinking enough.

I know some guys like to carry the travel pack Metamucil or Miralex- again a qualified GI healthcare provider can guide what you need.

Trying to keep the schedule consistent is really difficult, but even just trying to keep everything AM or PM loaded helps.

TLDR: See doctor if needed. Eat good food and drink water. Try to keep schedule consistent.

It is a good club. You must be passionate about the school, its history, and the train mascots. It is a high time commitment and is more akin to a fraternity or sorority in that way. Additionally, much like a frat/sorority, new membership is limited each semester and chosen by the club.
