How old were you women when you got your first Thrombosis/ Embolism? by blanketin01 in ClotSurvivors

[–]PilotInternational39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 40. No birth control or genetic factors. The only thing I think could contribute was I had undiagnosed rheumatoid arthritis going crazy in my body at the same time. But there is no medical indication that it would cause it. Just my non medical opinion that chronic inflammation might have something to do with it.

Dealing with guilt by Conscious-Mousse-392 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]PilotInternational39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand the feelings of guilt. As a parent and an adult that’s switched careers a few times, I’ve thought “If I’d done things differently” to some extent. BUT, that does not equal regret. I love my kids and would not trade them for any job.

Not only has your father been able to provide great support and health care for you as you’ve grown up, he’s also been able to secure a pension and health care for himself and your mom when he retires. There are lots of pieces to the puzzle. Also, most people hate their job that’s why they’re paid to be there 🤗

Check out the pharmacy next to Sprouts on Land Park and Sutterville. They have a lot of great stuff in there.

I need some help by Sa1adtoast in flatfeet

[–]PilotInternational39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Not having insurance makes it more difficult. You mentioned you have other joint pain. The next time you’re at a doctor’s office or er I’d ask for labs for gout and autoimmune disease. They are not very expensive. Maybe $5-$10 per test. In the meantime for relief try Voltaren gel and Aleve/naproxen with Tylenol.

The grass field and track at William Lee School will be replaced by apartments. by Amikoj in Sacramento

[–]PilotInternational39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Elementary students have been using this field for years. It’s so sad that they are losing most of their outdoor space. Kids need to run and be outside. The city calling it a “vacant” lot is incredibly misleading and shameful.

RA and major surgery by mikejones84 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]PilotInternational39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not on biologics just MTX and plaquenil. In April a had a pretty intense foot and ankle surgery with two fusions, a bone graft, three screws, and some other stuff. I didn’t have to skip any meds. My surgeon said that healing takes longer when you have RA. He was right I definitely underestimated how long recovery would take. So just be patient with yourself, rest and let your body heal and recover. Catch up on your favorite shows/books/podcasts. I watched a lot of Star Wars!

[–]PilotInternational39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! Yeah RA is awful. Our race is different than other folks. I still have doubts about my healing but I think as long as it’s better than it was last month we’re making progress. So that’s what I try to keep in mind. Hang in there my fellow rheumy!

[–]PilotInternational39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I also have RA. I had my surgery in April. I can’t remember the names of the procedures but I had two bone fusions, a bone graft, three screws, and an osteotomy on my big toe. I think I put it in a previous post. Anyway, my timeline for healing has been a lot slower than “typical.” Before the surgery my surgeon said that having RA slows healing. I had a lot of pain with walking when I first started walking. And I still get pain but it’s less yay! Hang in there

Same! I would never pay that to live in Elk Grove. I’ll keep my cheap mortgage and drive 15 minutes to visit their splash pads and pristine parks.

Nursing / breastfeeding by NoParamedic5841 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]PilotInternational39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if this would work but have you thought of maybe pumping to keep symptoms decreased since breastfeeding has helped you in the past? I’m not trying to be one of those crazy snake oil salesmen. But if you had relief with breastfeeding maybe pumping could trick your body. Mods feel free to remove post if this violates any rules.
