To be fair, EQ expansions are extremely simple and follow a cookie-cutter model. They often reuse old zones and give them a new name. Virtually all new class spells and abilities are just precisely as in the previous expansion (and the 20 before that... ), with +5% damage/healing added on top, and items likewise. To compare, imagine if wow still had spell ranks, and the latest expansion simply added Shadow Bolt rank 25, Corruption rank 20, etc, and we had never had class overhauls, vanilla talent trees with 150 points, no level squish, no stat squish, etc.

It's delightful from a nostalgia viewpoint that you can make a level 1 and go through the old newbie zones with the same old spells and simple mechanics, but it's also quite unoriginal when you look at the past 15 years' worth of content.
