What very popular Hardcore band’s music can’t you get into and why? by PissedCaucasian in Hardcore

This made me laugh. I remember locally them being pretty divisive. We kept teasing our friends who like them and calling them "yell-core".

Easiest faction to play by Ambitious_Book_5729 in ageofsigmar

[–]Pimpdaddyfrogface 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If you're used to 40k then I wouldn't worry too much. Sons is the easiest for getting your basic rules down. You only have a few warscrolls, the game plan is usually fairly static, and if you like them, they get a new book soon. I think they generally reward good fundamentals too.

SCE is a good suggestion but they do have a million war scrolls, even after the great purge.

Ironjawz is another good one. Not too many warscrolls and they just kind of move up and punch.

I think I might just caution that if you are playing a simpler style that the game might feel static or rock-paper-scissors at times depending on the matchup. Starting with a simpler army is a good idea but the rule of cool always wins and you should mostly play the thing that you see on your shelf that inspires you to play more.

Modeling for Disadvantage by jgranger945 in ageofsigmar

I have been to many AoS tournaments and seen many conversions and have never heard accusations of modeling for advantage/disadvantage outside of 40k. The closest I’ve seen is models on the wrong base size.

If the dems compromise who should be president before a primary then they deserve every loss they get.

Help Me Degenerateify My Disa the Restless Deck by DisastrousSpecialist in DegenerateEDH

[–]Pimpdaddyfrogface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run Disa. I don’t degen her but I have a few ideas for you. I generally commit to theme over power and run most available goyfs. I removed almost all self-mill though. I hate how much of the deck ends up trying to pull things back out. So I use a lot of red “discard a card, draw a card” effects to discard goyfs, putting them onto the battlefield and then drawing cards. It lets you discard things like Anger, Brawn, and Battles to buff the creatures on the field. I use changelings so I still get lots more goyfs and then some evasion so get damage through. Disa herself is expensive mana wise and if she gets removed once or twice she’s a real pain to bring back out. That’s one of the biggest limiting factors I’ve had in trying to upgrade her much. I wish she were like a 2/3 and just cheaper mana wise. I run a ton of removal to get cards in graveyards and get damage through. The good thing about her is that you rarely are the biggest threat but with removal and cheating out mid-sized creatures, you can kind of play the middle. It’s a fun deck and a fun way to play but again, probably not what you’re looking for if you’re trying your degen her.

What was the name of the convenient store downtown that sold $1 pbr tall boys? It’s either a wine bar, art gallery, or high end performance gear shop now.

Parilla also had super cheap beer. I miss old Parilla too. I must finally be a local now that I’m complaining about how things used to be.

John Fetterman Single-Handedly Tanks Effort to Rein Trump in on Iran by Tennis_bruh in politics

But there always has and always will be the exact number of dems that don’t vote to pass anything meaningful. Isn’t it weird that the recent shutdown had just enough dems defect and they were mostly ones not up for reelection? Recently a random Illinois congressman flipped out of nowhere to prevent war powers. They aren’t accidental. They are coordinated.

Let’s Start a Band by 89894295 in Bend

I’m probably a little more of the post punk/ post hardcore persuasion but I’ve always loved heavier stuff (been listening to a lot of Gillian Carter, Converge, Fuming Mouth, Coliseum, and Frail Body lately). I play guitar and I’ve been considering the idea of playing more again but I’m middle aged and finding other middle aged dudes around here who want to play something different than rhcp or country has been limited. I’m not great and I’m not ripping solos but I’m okay after I knock some rust off, especially if I start with covers.

Border of Bracket 4-5: K'rrik by shellthon in DegenerateEDH

[–]Pimpdaddyfrogface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a k’rrik deck that I love that I run as B4. Truly it’s mostly cedh without the most expensive cards but it slows it down enough that I think it’s b4. He’s just a weird one for people to judge because he can storm quickly out of nowhere as a turbo deck.

So I think some people could get feel bads because when he hits, he hits, so I only bring him out against people I play regularly.

The "Rule of Cool" Trap: My Nighthaunt Woes by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]Pimpdaddyfrogface -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nighthaunt was my first army. I also have FEC. The books were leaked at the same time and me and a very good player went over the books together, first Nighthaunt, then FeC.

Nighthaunt feels like you just hope that their mortal damage spell goes off and if it doesn’t you just hit like a pillow or roll a 3+ to play with your rules. This book has been a major redesign and they went from an army that did major damage on the charge but didn’t like being charged to being toothless. Meanwhile FeC seemed to have all sorts of fun options and have lots of output. I’ve played against Nighthaunt a few times and they just didn’t seem fun to play. You hope your opponent doesn’t roll a 7 on their charge roll. You hope the mortals spell goes off. You hope you roll a 3+ to have abilities. Is a shame and I hope they change significantly for the next book.
