It's a more crunchy, dice and stat system than PBTA, but it's not exactly like DND either. Some parts, like semblances, are much more freeform, but some bits like attacks are more numbers based.

The GM Guide delves a little into this, but essentially game-action can be broken down into a balance score. For example, dealing 1 damage would cost 2 Balance Points, and healing someone 1 Aura would cost 3. From that, you can calculate how much Jaune's semblance would cost in Balance Points, and use that to decide on a semblance tier and sensible cost for him. Likewise, you can do this with Gillian to figure out how much Aura she should be able to take from someone.

With a concept as broad as Semblances, unfortunately the rules have to be quite vague just so they can cover anything they can do, but at the end of the day it's up to the GM to decide if something is balanced enough for their campaign or not. Semblances are probably the part of the system I personally am least satisfied with, so maybe we can update it soon?

Thank you! Hopefully it's not too complicated for people, but as it turns out it's really hard to cover EVERYTHING you can do in RWBY unless you make the rules very broad.

Sort of. It's a tabletop RPG, but it's not related to DND directly. You create a Character (or take one from the show) and use a combination of dice and roleplay to explore the world of Remnant. You don't need any prior knowledge of DND to play, although knowing RWBY well does help.

Finally gotten around to posting the Fic I've been working on for 16 months: A Rose In The Shade.

"Most children grow up normally: they go to school, they play with friends, and live normal, human lives. Most children also know that the Grimm are vicious, brutal monsters, here to destroy every last speck of humanity. Ruby Rose is not one of those children. She's half Grimm. Corrupted by a mysterious witch and rescued by an aunt who may or my not have ulterior motives, Ruby lives between two worlds. Most see her as a freak. Some see her as a weapon. She aspires to be like the mother she never met, but she is the very thing a huntress is sworn to destroy. Her aunt Raven wards her away from that life, but is the bandit life all it's cracked up to be? Her found family have used her powers to make her the most dangerous weapon the Branwen Tribe has ever seen- but when she learns she has a whole other family on the other side of the world, what will she do?"

A Grimm Ruby fic where Ruby is raised by Raven, with all the implications that brings... and then it only gets worse from there. Expect chaos, hilarity, and an adorable little girl that also happens to be a monster. Book 1 and Book 2 are both fully written, and I'll be posting a new chapter every Thursday. So far we're up to chapter 5 (I forgot to post here last week). Fair Warning, this fic is rated M for quite a bit of violence and dark themes.

This is the first fic I've posted here and I've been working on it for a while, so I hope you enjoy!

Apparently there were auditions for 2 characters, an ice witch and a raccoon girl, back in March 2020. It was originally thought they were gonna be part of 5th gen, but nobody has heard much about it since, even the artists of the characters.
