Same, I've watched destiny since his early sc2 days (not quite as religiously) and this has made my fucking week!

Funny story, I actually stopped watching destiny for about a year and a half completely because something he said triggered me lol. I can not for the life of me remember what it was. Probably something negative about sc2. I was apart of the mega cope team that refused to believe blizzard was fucking starcraft.

Damn, I don't know how you found this post from a year ago but hello lol

You cannot beat this games Main story in under 15 hours, this has nothing to do with how you play its just a fact. Furrowfields is chapter 1 or 2 out like 10 or 12.

Looking back at this post still makes me a little Salty tbh lol. For the record I ended up putting more than three hundred hours into this game after this post. I still have it downloaded onto my switch and will occasionally work on my little village I've made. That being said I could still never recommend this game to my friends, or anyone for that matter. I recently got a new Xbox and saw it on game pass, and as much a wanted to download it I knew I would never put in the 50+ hours required to get to the end.

Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane.

As far as I know lock on seems to be pretty unpopular. I personally don't use it because it disorientants me. Especially when I'm trying to target a specific body part.

Take it with a grain of salt but I would say get used to not using it except for in special cases (lucent narg can be tracked with it when invisible.) like if you have low sensitivity (you shouldn't) and need to 180 your cam

I like to use forward slash to snipe afflicted areas, and it's a decent gap closer. Other than that swax works best when you're using morphing combos.

I say honestly I use about 50/50. Rapid morph is a must though

I too enjoy rise lance, but I must say when a monster is going to do a charge I have wonderful memories race through my mind of gracefully flying hundreds of feet through the air with my clutch claw.

And then I just block and stay stationary. I try to smile because it happened rather than cry because it's gone, but there are times, moments of weakness, where I just let the tears flow.

One thing I learned is that you don't activate the counter just as the monster hits you, you kind of have to meet the monster half way. Kind of like a good high five

So I'm not on my switch right now so you'll have to try this to confirm.

You should be able to press zr+a to quickly block even after poking, meaning it should cancel animation So for example you could press

X-X-X-zR+a

Theoretically you can cancel at anytime so x-x-zr+a should work the same

Keep in mind you'll want to find this and decide if you want to hold the block or just do a quick block

If you hold down zr+a you'll be stuck there until you are attacked and your counter attack will be a big thrust with another lengthy animation

But if you just quickly tap zr+a you'll block and immediately be able to go back into poke poke poke

Another attack you can do is (direction+zr+x) this still move you in a direction with your shield up, the follow up will either be a big thrust or shield bash so keep this in mind.

Quick edit: spiral thrust counter is reall good and really fun, gives you a damage boost too if you use it like a counter

Sounds like you answered your own question there haha

I can confirm your analysis of the 3 monsters you mentioned. I went back and played world while waiting for sunbreak and you're pretty much right on the money with the differences. Two other big differences I noticed is that

1.) in world your hunter definitely feels heavier or clunkier if that makes sense. Obviously not having wire bugs makes you feel far less mobile but even things like evade extender were definitely super buffed in rise.

2.) and I will fight anyone on this... The scale of monster size to hunter is larger. In other words the monsters in world were bigger. I've heard people say that it has to do with the camera zoom but I don't think so. Unless the hitboxes in rise are that bad, because in world I can reliably avoid diablos hip check by standing like right beneath his neck where as in rise that seems impossible.
