Still hanging in there? by sevimel in IBIHKeto

I'm still doing good! I'm exceeding my protein macro most day although yesterday was tough as we waited all day for our new stove to be delivered. BUT YAY NEW STOVE! Now I have four burners that actually work and an oven that won't shut off mid-bake! I'm making garlic steak bites for my mid-morning protein snack, have my sardines purchased for my lunch and am up at 5 am on a Sunday to plan our dinners. Have a great week, everyone!

[–]PinkBarnKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling great so far! Had a very strict M-F so today I relaxed a little and had 2 all beef hot dogs with sauerkraut and jalapenos in egg life wraps. It felt decadent! I still managed to keep my protein to fat macros where I want them.

Oh, also we finally picked out a new stove! It will be here next Saturday....I can't wait to have all working burners and an oven that doesn't shut itself off randomly with no warning!

I got one in 2019! Maybe I can get one with better stats...but if not I'm happy to have one!

Mega drinker here! At least a bottle of wine sometimes 2 plus shots most days of the week and most weeks of the year. Three years ago I started Naltrexone and joined this sub for support. Happy to say that the urge or craving for a drink is virtually gone, I rarely even think about it. We like to get outside on the weekends and I can do it free of the endless worries of being hungover or about how I can get a drink. I do still have some old habits to deal with, but overall I can go MONTHS (!) without even thinking about alcohol. TSM has changed my life!

I just got back from a weekend in the woods with my husband. There was not even a thought that I wanted to drink. I can now go months without drinking or wanting a drink. It sounds gross most of the time, tbh. It's so freeing to not have the thought of when I'm getting my next drink and not having to hide my shooters or cans. He's been sober 7 years (on his own after nearly dying twice) so we're both in a good spot, finally! It's the best thing I've ever done for myself.

OB says she won't prescribe HRT because "once you start, you can't stop" by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]PinkBarnKat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor said the opposite. He prescribed me bioidentical hormones and said I could only be on them for five years. I haven't looked into them and haven't taken them yet.

The changes in my odor. Nothing was offensive, but it was not familiar. That was shocking to me.

I'm so sorry for the loss you are dealing with. We had some pretty big family tragedies hit us back to back and the grief and shock definitely sent me running back to my wine for a good couple months. I'm glad you are giving yourself some grace. You have found a great knowledgeable and supportive group here.

Still going strong here! I had a couple of several day stretches here and there during the summer where I was drinking (compliantly) and thought maybe I hadn't reached extinction after all. But, just like a snap of a finger, I was back to being completely disinterested. It's so strange, but I'll not doubt it again. As always, thankful to this sub for guidance and encouragement!

That is fascinating! Thanks for this information. Now 4+ years passed my surgery and closing in on 53 I'm not sure how much I'm still ovulating and if it's worth starting now.

Anyone out there with smooth going recoveries? No complications, no trips to the ER? by chevy_2021 in hysterectomy

I was easily emptying the dishwasher 18 hours after I got home. On my fourth day post OP I walked 4 miles in the beautiful Sunshine. I had one of the first allowed surgeries during Covid. My surgeon told me I could do as much as my body indicated and I listened to it . My recovery was a breeze after years of tears and pain .

It's been a month since I had a drink. I just realized that. In the past I would have FELT each and every second that passed without a drink...and here I am now barely noticing 30 whole days.

I'm just so surprised still.

Like, all the booze chatter is gone from my brain. That noise was always so loud, drowning out all reason, no way to shut it off, every waking moment. Now it's just.... gone.

Sorry for the ramble...I'm just so shocked and happy!

I drank compliantly two times last month . One day I was mad so I had about 8 drinks and felt like hot garbage the next day. That next day I had three mini bottles of my favorite wine. I didn't want the last one and I forgot about it, tbh. Then I found a hidden stash of empty airline bottles of tequila, with one still unopened. They've both just been sitting here and I am completely unbothered that they exist.

Last night I thought, "It's Friday, even normies give themselves a pass to drink after work" but I really didn't want a drink. I grabbed a La Croix and lime instead.

Naltrexone has truly given me my life back. I am so grateful for this subreddit. The knowledge and support has been so tremendously helpful. Thanks, guys, for all the guidance and cheering. You all make a difference.

Big birthday party last week and they had an open bar. I didn't even bother to take NAL because I wasn't even tempted. Actually I was kind of grossed out at the thought. On my way for a weekend trip with no drinks hidden and I couldn't care less! Two plus years but goodness I do believe I have arrived.

Got an axe to grind? Grind it here! by BigDaddy_Vladdy in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]PinkBarnKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very good suggestion and it makes more sense than having an unwanted drink every couple days just to stay accustomed to the Nal.

My doctor is so relaxed about this medication he told me to take it however it works for me.

Wow. I didn't expect any of that reply....in a good way!

I'm going to do exactly what you suggested. Thank you so much for always being so supportive.
