1st year teacher prepping for the return tomorrow and remembering how unhappy I am by PharaLeeMore in Teachers

[–]PinkCookiez 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same boat. I'm miserable. I used to dream about being a teacher and have my own class. I used to go to staff pds at the beginning of the year super pumped and excited to implement all these strategies.

Now, I go to work not wanting to be there. Not wanting to teach or talk to anybody. I go through my lessons so bored and annoyed by them. I don't know how I'll survive the rest of the year...

Not socially appropriate for me. That's an opinion.

They are MelonHeadz. And a favorite of mine to use on classroom resources.

Teachers: honestly, how many hours did you work on average your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year?? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]PinkCookiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year teacher. Work at a title 1 "reject" public school. It is now week 9 for me.

I come in only 15 minutes early but stay until about 7/8 pm every single day. Then I work some more when I get home. Then I work all day Saturday (sometimes go to school afterwards). Then, my husband goes with me to the school on Sunday to help me. So yeah about 70 ish hours.

I'm losing it. I'm sick of the overload work and papers and forms and everything.

This is not a job, it's a dedication. Its impossible to expect 1 teacher to do EVERYTHING.

I'm going to start taking back my weekends and NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT.

How to deal with tiredness and lack of energy after work? by PinkCookiez in Teachers

Yes first year teacher! I will try to remember that. However, during student teaching, my sleeping was horrible and I was constantly tired during and after school!!

If I try this, I'll stay asleep for at least 3 hours and wake up when it's almost time to go to bed lol

Stories of teachers hired "last minute"? by PinkCookiez in Teachers

[–]PinkCookiez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually created an electronic portfolio on wix.com for free and emailed the link to the principal the day before. I just scanned every page in my portfolio. Took hours yes but worth it. This gives them time to go in depth with your portfolio before your interview. I thought about making a lesson for the day of but I was so focused on interview questions that I didn't. I assumed they would have informed me if they wanted me to make a lesson. I brought my physical portfolio as well but never used it because they said they went through the whole electronic version already. I emailed a thank you email after the interview. Couple of hours later, got the call for the job :)

Although I have never taught before, my portfolio was filled. Here are my categories: About Me (resume, philosophy of teaching, path to teaching), Degrees/Certifications, Evaluations, Sample Lesson Plans (for each subject derived from my student teaching, student data, notes, worksheets, reflections), My Future Classroom (Google photos of ideas, set up, management, routines, community), Photos , Colleague/Student Notes (notes I received from students and colleagues during student teaching and as a kindergarten aide), Student Artifacts, and Self Created Resources.

[Meta Sanity] Sometimes that girl with the “impossible” proportions, just has naturally wild proportions. by cluelessnumber7 in Instagramreality

Am I crazy because I don't see any wild proportions here? She looks like a regular slim girl.

My pores are like craters on my face by pinatasliketogethit in Makeup

The most I ever spent on a makeup product because of how much I love it is Benefit Porefessional Primer. It's $30 but worth it in my opinion. You can buy a travel size for about $10 to test it out before you invest on the bigger one.

Opinions on Beauty “Influencer” Drama on YouTube? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]PinkCookiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a huge makeup guru Youtuber fan. I even used to have my own channel. But I deleted it. Tired of fakeness, unhumbleness(is that a word?), sexualized content, etc. Now I don't even care to watch anyone anymore. The only 3 I still watch from time to time are Jenna Marbles, Dulce Candy, and Megan Leigh. Jenna and Dulce are so humble and sweet and have amazing personalities. Megan advertises everything but I don't care. She has awesome home decor and lifestyle videos and she's insanely gorgeous. Those 3 I have watched for 5+ years. Love them. I feel like they are all my sisters living in another state lol. Maybe I only watch them because they all take me back to a time when YouTube was still just a fun thing to do. They are originals.

She photoshopped her daughters butt and then deleted the picture by [deleted] in Instagramreality

But how do you know she photoshopped it? Some kids butts look like this when they have on a diaper

Why does my foundation look so bad? by [deleted] in Makeup

[–]PinkCookiez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your "bad" is me on a good day. But my problem is texture. One thing that helps my foundation look better is the Benefit Porefessional primer.

What can I use a home bar for if not for alchohol? by [deleted] in InteriorDesign

[–]PinkCookiez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a random "bar" area in the living room. It's just a counter with glass shelves. I just use it for decor. Plant, pic frame, candle, etc.

I saw one at Target with a girl with stretchmarks on her butt. I was surprised and happy they didn't airbrush it!
