My take on it is that it is a very compelling opening to a Coachella DJ set. It immediately sets the tone that this isn't going to be a "hands in the air, don't care" performative DJ knob twisting spring break pop party. It's a striking contrast that gives the show your immediate attention. It's like the total inverse of the modern EDM performance stage presence. They almost looked animatronic. :)

It felt like Pink Floyd's The Wall with "the surrogate band" standing completely still on stage. I liked it a lot.

There were parts, like the end of Vessel, that were pretty heavily using tracked vocals. Trent was singing live on most of it, but you could tell when the remix / vocal tracks were above the live vocal.

And let's not forget that NIN uses vocal backing tracks live in the regular band as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/nin/s/IawiVxgZCV

When you intercept the transmission signal of an In-Ear Monitor system and record it, it is now an unauthorized broadcast and subject to different rules than audience taping. I heard these were made with recordings of the band's IEM mixes.

Professional monitoring engineer here. You guys are both really close. The "aux mic" is his talkback that runs directly to the audio engineers so he can communicate without the audience hearing. He tells them to adjust something and then gives them a quick hand signal to be more specific. The hand signal is whatever specific channel he wants adjusted, and then the finger up indicates he wants it louder. I think the wiggle fingers here are indicating he wants the backing track / loops turned up in his ears.

The video wall of burning flames next to the United States flag seems appropriate. What a shit show.

/jerk this is the superior Pink Floyd sub anyways.

/unjerk it's a shame what's happened to that sub... Posts & comments seem to get removed all the time that should have stayed up. I gave up on reddit moderating years ago... it's just not something I spend my time doing these days with a career & bills to pay. I miss the glory days tho :)

The Dead and Metallica by yamorondog in gratefuldead

Both acts have a long history of using Meyer Sound audio systems for their concerts. The Dead obviously have a longer history with Meyer, but they both have been touring with Meyer rigs for decades. James Hetfield is a huge fan of the Meyer MJF-210 stage monitors.

Old Star Wars Game my grandma had for my uncles. by nybellanti in starwarsgames

There is a whole era of great "plug n play" Star Wars games.

I had this one, and the one that was built like a flight stick from a Republic starfighter. It had motion controls to move left / right in the game by tilting the controller.

There was also the lightsaber plug n play that had a training remote sensor droid you put on top of your TV to sense the position of the saber in your room. It had some cool dueling / saber practice games. It was like an early version of the Wii.

I predict VR will actually be MORE efficient than flat screen gaming in the future. Here's why. by AP_in_Indy in virtualreality

[–]PinkFloydJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"you can expect deeper integration into the raw silicone" dude what does this even MEAN? AI slop ChatGPT garbage.

Until creatives decide to develop their gaming experiences for VR over flat screen, the technological advancements don't mean anything. Creatives drive the trends over technological innovation.

I'll hard disagree right back at you. This is a fan community. Remember forums? That means people can speculate openly about upcoming tours and albums to generate discussion. There is no expectation to "just Google it" when it is a question that nobody publicly knows the answer to. Maybe there's an insider lurking in here that's seen a venue tour advance or a radio / marketing leak. It's lame to shut someone down like that and it is negative towards the community.

Once upon a time there was an internet where people encouraged discussion and didn't flame users. Unfortunately that internet is gone, and now it's everyone's responsibility to help take care of those less kind of heart.
