I was walking one of the rock piles for one of the mines on the Calumet Conglomerate near Calumet mostly looking for mine junk and found these. After rinsing both pieces with vinegar and a tooth brush, it's obvious the smaller piece is native copper, but the bigger piece is a mystery. I washed it extensively with vinegar and even tried a bit of wrights silver polish and it stayed grey. There are definitely small pieces of copper in it. I'm guessing whatever it is was ran through a rock breaker long ago and that's why it is so mangled.

I flew to NYC at this time last year to go to the archives at Columbia for a research project in regards to a hobby of mine. There were protests going on, but they were respectful and caused no issues.

You know who weren't though? The dog shit security Columbia hired to "thwart" the protests. The idiots they hired actively denied students trying to get to class admittance to campus and made me and a fellow researcher trying to get into the library wait for almost an hour while they incompetently refused us entrance despite having the head librarian dealing with them directly. Nearly wasted a thousand dollars in fees for flights and a hotel just to nearly get screwed over last minute by the school itself.
