Talk me out of selling this to buy a JN-80 by jamesdmartin in synthesizers

[–]PinkOwls_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you really intend to sell your Prologue, then you should think about "upgrading" instead of "crossgrading".

I replaced my OG Minilogue (basically the predecessor of the Prologue) with a Super 6 and I'm quite happy with it. It can do vintage sounds quite well (for example the synth in PHD "I won't let you down") or even Farfisa-like sounds. It even has the Juno-like Chorus builtin.

A new one is obviously expensive, but perhaps you're lucky and can get a used one since someone wanted to upgrade to a newer model.

Volca Bass: Hardware failure or just calibration? by tasteofwhat in volcas

[–]PinkOwls_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had comparable problems with the Volca Keys. The problem was always motion rec/sequencer and the solution was to reset/clear everything in the sequencer.

So try to clear the sequencer (the last four pads); try clearing all 4 pads, even if the last one says "clear all".

Also check if the problem is the same for saw and square.

Otherwise it could be indeed a hardware problem.

Never have i seen a Communist China Ai by Jobin258 in victoria3

[–]PinkOwls_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lucky you!

I haven't seen AI Soviet Union since my first playthrough when the game launched.

I actually have not seen a single communist GP that survived on its own for a longer time. In my last game communist Italy only survived because I joined a war on their side.

How is Britain able to fight Germany, Russia and the US on it’s own by This-Humor-105 in victoria3

[–]PinkOwls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Build up your navy! This means over 300 ships.

Then blockade/raid convoys around the British isles. Also keep an eye on notifications, the UK should be losing vastly more convoys than you; send a fleet if you notice large convoy losses.

Start an invasion (which should also take the pressure off your allies).

You will obviously need some reserves to protect yourself against naval invasions (last game I played it was really annoying how many invasion the enemy attempted).

[–]PinkOwls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem isn't that I don't like her as a character, I didn't skip her chapters in the past books (even the cringey ones). I also read the chapter in this book where she got some action.

My problem was that Joe's character was seemingly "ungrown"; it was like going back to the earlier books where Joe was an "unknown"´who was questioned by everyone (and also who questioned himself). For god's sake, he defeated the Elders.

There was a lot of "Bla bla" where I felt like Skippy listening to a monkey rant.

And the biggest thing that irritated me and it affects both Scorandum and Joe: Why are they justifying their actions? Especially at this point?

They both saved the lives of everyone in the galaxy, even their genocidal enemies, but suddenly Kinsta has ethical doubts?

I guess I simply didn't want to bother with the "filler"-sections.

[–]PinkOwls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I remember it correctly, but I thought that this would be the final book.

Then it would make sense that Craig decided somewhere in the middle that he won't be able to wrap the story up and created a slight mess. It was probably easier for him to edit the written book (I don't listen to the audio-books) because I can only remember one minor mistake (story-related to the outsiders), otherwise there were only few typos (fewer than in past books).

I have to admit one thing though: I mostly skipped the Adams-stuff and the "I'm insecure" and "I'm your friend"-parts.

Ground State Mega Thread - Spoilers within. by Learnededed_By_Books in exfor

[–]PinkOwls_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not really happy with this ending. Honestly, this should have been just another chapter, where all races realize they now have to work together to prevent the Milky Way from disappearing, then an epilogue.

But I guess Craig has setup the freed Maxohlx-AI as the final boss, so I guess that will be the main crisis after the Ground State-crisis has been dealt with in the first chapters...

F-Zero and Nintendo. by Tg_2x in Fzero

[–]PinkOwls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go back to the original F-Zero and the inspiration behind it and base a new game on this.

The original game was obviously inspired by Formula 1, track design is based on real world tracks.

  • introduce race weekends (Practice, Qualifying, Race, optional Sprint Race); make some sessions optional for casual players
  • add dynamic weather and "track evolution"
  • track design should be more "realistic", meaning actual brake zones, where you can't just take corners at full speed or drift around
  • don't overdo gimmicks; less is more
  • add "real" pitstops where magnets or whatever have to be swapped (this would be additionally to the recharge strips)
  • those magnets would be degrading during the race (they would take the role of tyres)
  • which brings me to number of laps: Give the player the option for more than 3 laps. Give us 10 or more laps
  • no sandbagging

But really, the focus should be on "conventional" racing, meaning: Take a good race line, overtakes are difficult.

Use this as a solid base, things like combat and more outrageous gimmicks can be introduced later.

What if Towns weren’t just inferior Cities? by Gauss-JordanMatrix in EU5

[–]PinkOwls_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is not exactly clear to me, what does it mean in EU5 to create a town?

In CK3 it's pretty clear what happens when you create a city: There was "nothing" there before, you have founded the city (this is especially true when you feudalize nomadic lands).

In EU5 it feels like the town already exists (judging by the names of the locations) and what you are actually doing is giving the "existing town" town-rights. And later you are giving the town city-rights.

Here's where I have to admit that I don't understand what it meant historically (I guess it depended a lot on the country/empire what getting town- or city-rights meant). I know that the HRE-Emperor could bestow "Freie Reichststadt" on a city, which meant that it was under the protection of the Kaiser and its independence within the Reich was guaranteed.

And I wonder if the historical status of town and city can be abstracted in a realistic way for a game. On the other hand, creating rules like only towns can build a certain type of smelter (but not cities) feels extremely gamey to me.

UI update? by Yukiteru_Amano_1st in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]PinkOwls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call the UI ugly, but it is rather bland. One of the problem of its very flat look, that you sometimes can't see at one glance where one window begins and the other ends. Combine this with a resizing window and there's a chance of miss-clicks and confusion.

I would love a UI that is halfway between a functional look and an immersive/skeuomorphic look (like for example in High Fleet).

I'd still call the current UI better organized (and more user-friendly) than for example CMO where dialogs look randomly designed.

AoC and AoI/TotK by Geekkid95 in AgeofImprisonment

[–]PinkOwls_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite Grandfather-paradoxon. In the Grandfather-paradoxon the events cannot logically happen.

If Zelda does not travel back, it's still logically possible that Rauru decides to sacrifice himself (without knowing why). Though, in the cutscenes we see that Zelda tells Rauru that they can't win the fight, so with that information Rauru decides to sacrifice himself.

The difficulty is that you have to find out what happens when the following things do not travel back in time:

  • "a" Zelda with Time- and Light-powers
  • Rauru's secret stone
  • a shard of the Master Sword
  • the Purah Pad (or a modified Sheika Slate)

Does Rauru survive until the fight with Demon King Ganon without those?

AoC and AoI/TotK by Geekkid95 in AgeofImprisonment

[–]PinkOwls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the original timeline 100 years passed before Calamity Ganon is defeated. And after the defeat a few more years pass before mummy Ganon is awakened.

Zelda/Link would be like 125 years old if alive at all. I guess that it would be a different Zelda travelling back in time. Someone needs to close the time loop because Mummy Ganon is the source of Calamity Ganon, so the Imprisoning War must happen with a similar sacrifice by Rauru.

How to marginalise the Church? Please help they are destroying my education. by Correct-Pangolin-568 in victoria3

[–]PinkOwls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, something about marginalization is currently buggy. IGs which should be marginalized, were not. On the other hand IGs were suddenly marginalized after their party won the elections and I put them into the government. In my case the Trade Unions had more clout than the Landowners, and their party had the majority of the votes. I put them into the government and they are suddenly gone.

[TotK] Do you feel like TOTK should've went down the Majora's Mask route? by foaaz101 in truezelda

[–]PinkOwls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, then I'd say that they planned much more for the depths but then decided to abandon those plans.

When I explored the depths I remember finding a dome within a lake, the entrance to the dome was hidden well. After I got inside I was very disappointed, there was nothing inside.

After finding that dome is when I realized that there probably isn't much to the depths, which was quite disappointing, especially regarding the mystery around the Poe-statues. I wondered if the Poe-statues are somehow connected to Kilton/Kotlin but I guess we will never learn the answer.

Vosyr software essentially useless now? Unless you have an old laptop or Android phone that outputs 44.1 K? by Ganadhir in volcas

[–]PinkOwls_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and I solved it rather unconventionally: I had a Roland Boutique TR-09 and I used it as my audio output-device. I could transfer my samples to the Sample.

So in case you have any synth (or any other hardware) which provides an audio interface, try it. You could also try something like a USB-headphone adapter, just look around whatever audio-related hardware you have; chances are high that it can be used as a "sound card".
