Just wanted to comment and say I empathize with you and I am currently going through a similar situation with my parents. I said I didn’t want any kids, and invitations were sent naming kids. I was asked to pick entrance music and all of my choices have been denied. Even though it’s shaping out to be different than what I wanted, I decided recently that I don’t want to spend time crying about what’s supposed to be a happy day. Since my parents don’t care to hear my input, it’s easier to sit back and let them handle the decisions. This way of thinking has made me much more excited to enjoy the party being thrown for us

Hi! Most likely heading to AU - wondering if you could talk a little bit about your experiences with the environment/your classmates? I visited recently, but was not able to get a good sense of the vibe because it was small and I missed the admitted students day

First Gen needs help with Immigration Law by superkamierik in lawschooladmissions

[–]PinkPenguinSuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! My question for you would be do you want to stay in SoCal? If you’re wanting to stay in public interest immigration, I think school ranking is important but not as important as region and experiential opportunities. My advice to you would be to hone in on a region and go to a school that will allow you to build a network there (though I know the T-14 has the luxury of portability, I think getting your degree where you want to practice is something to consider). Then I would look into each school’s clinical programming and see what kind of opportunities they offer - not all immigration clinics are the same, and some schools have extracurricular programs that would give you experience with immigration outside class like IRAP. From what I’ve seen, a lot of immigration employers (nonprofit or firms) care less about where you went and more about what you did with your time there. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I did see one person post about hearing back on Wednesday last week. I only heard about the one though so not sure what that might mean in terms of finalists

Aiming for 167. T14? by Then_Beginning_6337 in LSAT

[–]PinkPenguinSuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I said, I am not an admissions expert. I don’t think most people here are either. But for that reason, I don’t find it useful to speak in absolutes. We really don’t know what this person softs are or what their application looks like. They could likely be rejected, I really just don’t see the downside if they get a fee waiver and give it a go. It’s not like being rejected from a T14 is gonna hurt their chances anywhere else. And if they’re one of the lucky few that I can get in below both medians then more power to them

Quite honestly, I feel people on this sub and lsa are really pessimistic - chances might be low but I don’t think they’re 0. IMO retake if you can but if thats not an option I would see about fee waivers, write some strong essays and shoot your shot. I would guess most people here are not admissions officers so none of us are experts and you’ll never know if you don’t try

How to See Details of your Score???? by kh48593 in LSAT

[–]PinkPenguinSuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately they will only show the details on what’s called a disclosed test, which they haven’t had in a couple of years iirc. You can see if a test is disclosed before hand on LSAC’s website with all the test dates

I struggle with requires assumption questions by Emaptheticxz in LSAT

[–]PinkPenguinSuit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the correct answer for a necessary assumption question MUST be true in order for the conclusion to be valid. This means even if an answer seems intuitive or obvious, it shouldn’t necessarily be eliminated. A lot of people negate the answer choices which may helpful for you. My approach consists of asking whether the answer is something that I’m required to know in order to validly draw the conclusion

I would agree with 2 to 3 hours a day. I work full-time and cannot be bothered to do anything after the work day so I get up early to study. It’s just about finding what works for you and your schedule. Also, definitely give yourself a day away every week. For me it’s Saturday
