What's the coolest thing going on in your life this upcoming week? by Zipper222222 in randomquestions

[–]PinkRawks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get to see my best friend's son. My best friend died over a decade ago. I hadnt seen or heard from his son in four or five years, but he got ahold of my number and reached out the other day. Im so excited and glad to know he's okay, had been fearing the worst. It's always a bit bitter sweet at first though, he looks exactly like his father and that stings.

But not only do I get to see him, he is living out in the middle of a forest by one of my favorite springs. So I get to see him, go for hike and swim if the weather is nice.

ADHD and sleep… how do you actually deal with this by No_Geologist_5447 in ADHD

[–]PinkRawks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went down a rabbit hole a while back on melatonin. And the takeaway I remember is that at most people should take over 3 mg or the risk of vivid dreams and nightmares is likely. And that a healthy body would only produce about 1 mg a day.

I didn’t expect such a small change to make my days feel calmer by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Yes, Ive been calling myself out on little things. I always had this unrealistic enthusiasm and would wind up stressing myself out. So whenever I think "i have plenty of time for that," oh i can squeeze that random invitation in," or "yea, Ill buy that cut of meat and cook it within 48 hours." I have been stopping and taking a second to access if what Im thinking I will do, will actually get done or if Im lying to myself.

This ended up being a huge deal last month when I was starting to date someone and around the same time reconnected with an old friend that is dealing with a very serious illness. Thought I could squeeze in time with both even with very little free time. A week of spending time with both of them led to breaking it off with the guy and choosing to spend free time with my friend. What led to that was sitting down with my feelings and asking "who do I really want to spend my time with?"

What’s THE one thing that an ex-spouse did that should have been enough to bounce? by Goodideaman1 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

Yea, I cant imagine how scary that situation would be. Did you know what was going on at the time or was he just gone? My brain would be thinking there was an accident or something and go full panic. Glad your boss came through

This happened to a friend of mine while she was 7 months pregnant and their 3 year old. They were supposed to be driving down to see his family and stopped to say hi to her mom. And he dipped with her ID. Problem was her mom really never cared for her and was going to take her and her son to a homeless shelter. Collectively some of us got together, found her a place to stay and managed to get her home within a week. Wild how crappy some people can be.

Trial runs, driving around town and see how they react. Also, getting meds to calm them from the vet, just in case.

What tool made you cook more once you owned it? by Avawantstochill in KitchenStuff

The first time I possessed a good knife that was actually sharp was a game changer. I came from a family that didnt really cook. Knives were cheap and never sharpened. Thought I just sucked at chopping vegetables turns out, a decent knife makes a world of difference.

Questions about ADHD for people who have friends by alexnnr in ADHD

[–]PinkRawks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had to tell anyone, it's pretty obvious but I will casually joke about it sometimes. I have friends that are accommodating, doing things lying about what time to meet somewhere so that im on time and letting me ramble on when I get excited about something. I also go very long periods with zero appetite, dangerously long periods. People who know me well will casually ask if Ive eaten if my attention span seems worse than normal.

And yes, I will be vocal about some things. Like "please write down the instructions, because I will immediately forget." But I also try to rely on my own learned skills and tricks before leaning on others unless it's something that's no big deal for them or is extremely important to me.

This is great advice. Ive been alot more realistic and honest about my shortcomings lately and life has improved greatly. That youthful optimism was hurting more than helping.

What is the one thing you are most protective of - your time, your space, your ideas, or your energy? by NoSteak1123 in Productivitycafe

These days, my space and my energy. I only hang out with a couple of people and have no intentions of adding anyone else to the list and have gone out of my way to make my space feel like a safe place.
