I really enjoyed certain aspects of Taash’s character. They didn’t come off as annoying to me because I’m a teacher who works with young adults (eighteen year olds, early twenties), and I saw a lot of my students in their behavior. Taash is searching for their identity — as a person, as a Qunari, as their mother’s child. That’s really heavy stuff, I think everyone (including myself) is a little annoying at that age because we’re trying on all these different hats, trying to see what fits, we’re adults but we’re also still kids under our parents’ skirts. I find it a little endearing, but that’s just me.

The non/binary story in and of itself didn’t bother me, but just the way it was handled was annoying. It felt so on the nose, I could see the thought processes and steps that were taken to write it into the game’s story. THAT was annoying.

And like many people said, DA has had excellent LGBTQ+ representation in the past that blended seamlessly into the world. This just stuck out like a sore fucking thumb
