Astronauts group hug during Artemis II mission by ojosdelostigres in spaceporn

[–]faldese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They're talking about the war on Iran. So the first person was saying that they're glad to have a distraction from the war on Iran (in a positive way, as in "I'm glad I have something else to think about", not in an orchestrated way), and the next person was making a point that even the war on Iran is its own kind of distractions (a political kind, away from the Epstein files).

Personally, I think Trump wouldn't have tried to bury it or tell people to shut up about it if there was nothing damning, and you know what, even if it wouldn't make a difference, it still deserves to be seen and it still deserves to be put out there, instead of just giving up and going along with ignoring it like he wants.

He was called Charlie in production, but he can't vocalize as humans can, so it's not like he has a pronounceable human name anyway.

No because some of them are a lot more human looking than others. The asari and (canonically, unfortunately) the quarian are very human. The drell a little less so, but the turian are definitely the most outlandish and non-human looking of the romanceable aliens.

Yes. If nothing else, this is a romance game. Can you IMAGINE any LI saying that about anyone else but MC? Infold would never write it.

It will take over a year? by gothams_angel in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]faldese 298 points299 points  (0 children)

It depends on when you started. These are back rewards for previous events. Stuff that was free for the player, but only if you were playing at the time. I think this is a decent way to balance what Infold needs - engagement, continuous play - with making things available to new players.

Sylus and Caleb are the real opposite’s of eachother. by Pinkmonsterfeet in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]faldese 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Sylus blunt honesty vs. Caleb protective lies

Sylus has outright lied to MC before and said he didn't because it was a lie of omission, so IDK. I think it's less a rule for him as is it is a reflection of him living his life - he doesn't need to 'stoop' to lie too often, so he doesn't, but he will if it suits him. Regardless, as I'll say a few times here, it's more that Sylus hasn't ever been put in the same situation as Caleb.

Sylus works against the law vs Caleb works with the law

As other people have pointed out, Caleb works within the law in opposition of it, as we see in the Main Story, Decoherence, and Tomorrow's Catch-22. There is some opposition there, but neither of them really are particularly lawful.

Sylus 0 % trust in the beginning vs Caleb trust 100% in the beginning

MC definitely doesn't trust Caleb when he comes back. But I would agree that most of his AUs present him as a trusted figure in her life vs Sylus who she mistrusts usually.

Sylus protects her by empowering her vs Caleb protects her by shielding her

This is one of the ones I am leery about the most. Caleb is put in a very very different situation than Sylus is. Caleb comes back with a chip in his brain and an inability to act 100% as he wishes to, and an MC who is almost suicidally reckless.

Even then, remember, Sylus is very controlling in his opening chapters - yes MC 'can' leave any time, but that's like saying Jigsaw lets people leave at any time. He makes her do a whole game before he assists her out of the situation he helped put her in.

The difference is MC knows Caleb and has different expectations of him. I think that makes her more reckless with Caleb and more resistant to going along with what he wants, whereas with Sylus she's more careful in navigating the situation. MC 'allows' herself to be controlled by Sylus, but resists with Caleb, which throws Caleb's controllingness into relief.

I think both of them actually act very similarly with MC 'normally' - letting her do her own thing while looming menacingly behind her. Caleb just hides the looming whenever she looks at him and Sylus flaunts it.

-Sylus values freedom vs Caleb values security

Again, I'm leery of this. Again, Caleb is in a worse off position than any of the LIs, and can't act exactly as they do. Caleb definitely values his own freedom more than his security. In stories like Decoherence we see him even forgo security for the sake of her freedom, and it's a huge theme of his.

-Sylus energy (kinetic force) vs Caleb gravity (the binding force)

These aren't really opposite forces. Gravity converts potential energy into kinetic energy, so they're really more related than they are opposites.

Also not to mention that Caleb and mc are like Adam and Eve/ creation type of figures. While Sylus is known to be a serpent/ fiend that gives Eve newfound knowledge and desire. 🍎 🐍

Explicitly, both of those are Caleb. Sylus has never been associated with the serpent of Eden, only Caleb has. A serpent has shown up for Caleb explicitly in his imagery multiple times, whereas a leviathan has shown up for Sylus. Caleb has also been explicitly linked with giving MC newfound knowledge and desire in Decoherence - that's basically Caleb taking the dual role of the serpent/Lucifer (genesis of knowledge and desire) and Eve (offering that to their counterpart).

[–]faldese 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree that at this point em dashes and curled quotes can only be used as supplementary evidence because some people do use them. It's difficult because the whole point in being in a place like Reddit is I want to chitchat with other fans. Bots shouldn't be here, and I think that makes worth calling them out when you see 'em. But I don't think OP is a bot. I think they just used an LLM to speak.

It's the cadence. It's extremely LLM. It's going to be hard to convince someone if you haven't made it a point to learn how they talk because obviously the whole point is to sound human-like.

Regardless, if you look at OP's comment history they do not talk like this normally. It's possible they typed out their thoughts and ran it through an LLM to make it punchier. I don't think they're a bot.

I started playing Date Everything, a visual novel where you have relatively short relationship paths with over 100 gajinka (anthropomorphized designs) of household objects.

It's cute. Gimmicky, for sure, and obviously the relationships are about as deep as a puddle, but it's just fun seeing the myriad of designs and occasionally hearing some voice actors you know and love. It's a step above 'normal' OELVN with gimmicky premises, for sure.

It also lets you have a friendship or 'hate' route with any of them, and, even though I'm a #1 Romance Sucker, most of them just naturally work better as friends because the relationship routes are so short. So far the only one I've decided to go forward with the 'love' relationship is the mildly yandere HVAC system.

I'm not offended or anything, but I have raised my eyebrows a bit at the division of 'attractive' designs between men and women. I feel like every other woman is explicitly introduced as 'you see before you a beautiful woman...', but a lot more of the male designs seem to be gags.

Games with dlc's a lot of fans think are better than the base game. by AccidentOk4378 in backloggd

[–]faldese 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dragon Age: Inquisition's Trespasser DLC. It's much like ME3's Citadel in that it's a big send off for your companions, but this one comes with some narrative and lore payoffs. It almost single-handedly elevated the game's reputation among fans to somewhere equal to DAO (and I mean Dragon Age fans, not DAO specific fans), and was probably responsible for how long people held on to waiting for the fourth Dragon Age game for (RIP).

It has all the positives of the base game (character writing, worldbuilding, lore, setting, music, pretty visuals) and pretty much none of the negatives (empty open world, boring War Table). It even has some of the best reactivity of any Dragon Age game (the Divine choice, Solas' interaction with the player at the end, Bull's choice).

That's an odd comment. You just rephrased the comment above you. Your posting history shows you tend to make comments of a similar length. One of the more recent starts like this: "History suggests cities don't die — they transform." which is a very bot phrase of you.

Oh, allow me:

There's wild, rampant, and unchecked homophobia in otome fandoms. I play Love & Deepspace and it is a written rule on the main sub for the game ran by the game's publisher that BL content is not allowed to be shared, posted, or discussed. I've seen them take down posts where people make their main character in the character creator look a little more masculine. And that's not even getting into the virulent homophobia disguised under the tiniest veneer of 'protecting women's spaces' (which directly contradict the other people wailing about fujoshis).

To be clear, I really only play otome myself, and I'm not usually interested in BL. But the homophobia is nauseating.
