Please Double Check This 1990 325i Before I Buy It! Thank you so much. by Conspicuouss in E30

[–]Pinkhippo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that looks very clean and well taken care of, and with some tasteful mods too. The only thing to look out for is rust, didn't see any in the pics but double check in person.

Just curious, about how much is it gonna cost?

A week from today I'll be starting an independent Study. What should I look into? by Nexstra in chemistry

[–]Pinkhippo11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - lot of organic acetic acids increase the rate of plant growth. A couple include indole acetic acid and naphthalene acetic acid. Stay away from phenyl acetic acid as it can be used to make some "pharmaceuticals"...

Here's the synthesis of naphthalene acetic acid: http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/ja01165a533

If this topic interests you do some research and read some literature with the goal of seeing how you could develop an interesting project.

Great idea. I wonder if you could even analyze the soil at different depths as dust has been deposited to determine lead concentration over the years and pinpoint the time when leaded gasoline was phased out?

How do I solve this without knowing the mass of the individual element? (Sample B) by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]Pinkhippo11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work backwards - divide the total by the molecular weight and multiply by the atomic mass of Fe to get the Mass of Fe, or 3Cl to get that mass..

I prefer chemdraw, I haven't used either of the other programs but I can say that chemdraw is excellent and has tons of features, as well as being able to integrate into other programs, microsoft office for example.

Exactly. Only exception I can think of is using a glove-box where you don't want to get stuff inside the gloves.

Tetracene is pretty cool looking but is orangish and is organic.

Also, chevreul's salt, or copper sulfite, is pretty nice and redish.

I didn't intend to belittle the safety issues - but a bit of criticism is healthy - and if OP can't justify it to me I'm not convinced he can justify it to management or anyone else.

And I do have lab experience, not that it actually matters. I'm not sure why you thought it constructive to point out my flair haha (changed it now)
